5060ti 16GB or 5070?

I am only playing at 1080p resolution. Is the 5070 worth $100 more or just a waste for only playing 1080p?

Votten_Kringle@reddit
Depends what games you are playing and the refresh rate on your monitor.
I will assume your monitor is not that great and you don't play demanding games, so yes go for 5060 ti 16gb.
Prize_Swing3396@reddit
I have a 1440 monitor I play cs2, Lol, and I would like to play in nice details in the latest doom, the last of us, kingdom come delivery2 and generally AAA games what card do you recommend? I am considering either 9060xt or 5060 ti
Votten_Kringle@reddit
I have 5070 and play 1440, and have around same demands as you. It is kind of enough for me, but some games like fallout 76, do have some low fps like some areas lower than 60 even, but other places around 130 fps. But thats with everything on ultra, including shadows. And that game isnt that great optimized either. So it all depends how much you want to future proof your gpu actually. If you plan on having these demands on AAA games on ultra settings in a few years to come, Im afraid 5060 ti wont be enough and you might have to get 5070 ti. The 5060 ti would work in all those games you listed, but im not sure if they would work above 120 fps on ultra settings.
Doom was great optimized if I remember correct, I can test again tomorrow.
Prize_Swing3396@reddit
They don't have to be ultra settings :) they can be high or very high, just to make the games look okay and run smoothly.
EnvironmentSquack@reddit
If Money not really a problem, then 5070
Igor369@reddit
Amazing answer. "If you have money get the more expensive one". Genius.
busbybob@reddit
I just grabbed a b grade 5070 for £420 and a new 5060ti 16gb asus prime £415. If the 5070 has bad coil whine or similar issues I'll keep the 5060ti
cee_why79@reddit
For only $100 I’d get the 5070 it future proofs you more for 1080p
prodbyjj_@reddit
the fact u got to spend $600 for a 5070 to be called a 1080p card is a joke. Entry level gaming just isn't a thing when most people will play on 1440p.
FewEffect3290@reddit
Lie most people play in 1080p
prodbyjj_@reddit
sybau u cant speak for everyone
FewEffect3290@reddit
Monitors are not a problem, only if you use a graphics card like rtx 5070 in 1440p resolution in the future you will definitely run out of vram memory, not to mention that in such a case you will have a huge drop in fps at 1440p resolution
so the card will not be useful to you for a long time
using the card in a lower resolution extends its usefulness
there are already a lot of games where vram memory is starting to run out
Plane_Rough8542@reddit
5070 is on what originally was a 60 class die.
The 70TI is on a 80 class die.
60 class cards are on the 50 class die.
5070 is a glorified 60 class card in reality but Nvidia decided that moores law doesn’t exist anymore to justify increasing the prices.
When you realize that Nvidia only makes 2 percent of their income from the graphics cards they sell to us it makes you realize how powerless voting with your dollar is when it comes to these big companies.
Muted_Price9933@reddit
Future proofing is kinda bs by the time it gets insufficient, in 4 years the gpu will loose half of its resale value and with lost $ that you can buy another entry level ( 5060 ti level gpu)
FewEffect3290@reddit
30-40 percent more performance doesn't cost much more and 12gb vram will be enough for 1080p even for Witcher 4 and GTA 6
Capital_Inspector932@reddit
But you can get the RTX 5060TI for 410$. It's more of a 200$ difference, at least where I live.
Velocity_LP@reddit
Are you certain that wasn't the 8GB model?
Capital_Inspector932@reddit
I’ll check. Cheapest available stock (16GB) RTX 5060TI is 465$. Gigabyte. My bad
Monke969@reddit
I wanna know what the 16gb vram on 5060ti does? Is it more for rendering work or it actually helps with gaming? I’m choosing between 5060ti 16gb 5070 or 5070ti to pair with 7800x3d
MyUshanka@reddit
The 5060Ti is plenty for your use case. A 5070 is overkill.
FewEffect3290@reddit
This is not an exaggeration
CaporalArcand@reddit
Im honestly in the same boat. I don’t know to go for 5070 for a better gpu or 5060ti for the extra vram and « future proofing »
Is this fomo that every youtuber is saying that 12gb isn’t gonna be enough vram in the near future
FullyBkdWaffles@reddit
Just like in 2020 8gb was obsolete, yet it’s still decent now? The tech tubers were riding amds dick when the 9070 first released and now they are pulling back. It’s all sensationalist claims that they get paid to make and they engage in clickbait. Every test shows the 5060ti 16 is much slower than the 5070.
Surtle-Teck-Nweater@reddit (OP)
I just ended up getting a 9060 XT instead it was $150 cheaper than the 5060 TI 16G and the performance is very similar
JAGSMX2010@reddit
3060 legendary
Surtle-Teck-Nweater@reddit (OP)
3060 is what I have now
Which-Door-2707@reddit
I would absolutely get the 5070 for $100 extra yes.
I am biased. I just picked one up and I am very pleased that I did. Right now I’m running BO6 @162 fps solid at 1440p with Extreme graphics settings give or take a few lower settings but not for performance issues.
Hairy_Somewhere9970@reddit
For 1080p, the 5060ti 16gb is more than enough
niseko@reddit
I just got mine and was playing Cyberpunk 2077 with max settings and pathtracing at 60-70fps on 1080p
Zaldekkerine@reddit
That's the same FPS the 5070 gets at 1080p while using DLSS Quality. Are you sure you had everything maxed out?
niseko@reddit
I might be misremembering the FPS but it was very playable and yes I had DLSS Quality on. I was really pleasantly surprised!
user007at@reddit
5070 is the faster card. Get that
Psychological-Leg610@reddit
Get whichever is closest to MSRP. As of 2 weeks ago Bestbuy and Walmart had some 5070s selling for retail price. At that time 5060 ti's were $50 over retail. But prices are constantly rising and falling, so you will need to check on today's market situation.
whomad1215@reddit
save $80 and get a 9060xt?
PAJAcz@reddit
9070
ContentSport7884@reddit
Yall underestimating your gpu 😭 my intel arc b580 rocks 1440p just fine 😭😭😭
Stunning-Scene4649@reddit
If it's just for 1080p get the cheapest one.
_DarkKnight___@reddit
"Rx 9070 xt". Almost same price, has more vram and outperforms 5070 and also close to 5070ti just 10-15 fps behind
AdvancedBandicoot992@reddit
Is the 9070xt really almost the same price in your country? The non-xt is close to the 5070, but the 9070xt is like 150-200USD more which I wouldn't really call almost the same price.
_DarkKnight___@reddit
In my country 5070 (12gb) and 9070 xt (16gb) are exactly same price.. 9070xt is 23% provides overall more performance than 5070.
AdvancedBandicoot992@reddit
Lucky in my country the 9070xt is barely cheaper than the 5070ti
SIDER250@reddit
Same here. In my country, 9070 XT is 220$/193€ more than 5070. 9070 is also 146$/128€ more than 5070 making both of these cards obsolete.
firey_magican_283@reddit
Where I live the 9070 non xt is the same cost as the 5070 and the 9070 xt is all over the show in pricing swinging about 20% each time I look
tawoorie@reddit
Where i live 9070 xt is between 5070 and 5070ti in price lmao
M542@reddit
Yes, 5070 is a lot better. 12GB for 1080p would be good for a quite while.. 5070 also has a lot better performance
f1rstx@reddit
Go for 5070 and play at 1440p on your 1080p screen with best possible image quality via DLDSR
yamidevil@reddit
If you can afford 5070 go for it. It's a much better card, 12gb is enough for 1080p, better at RT/PT and it will serve you better when you decide to upgrade to 1440p. I would pick it but my budget allows a 5060ti max
Current_Finding_4066@reddit
It is worth it. You get a considerably better gpu
PreviousAssistant367@reddit
If you can afford 5070 go for it.
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
I currently feel my 3080 10gb would be much more than enough for 1080p 144hz+ high settings especially with DLSS involved. The 5070 is faster in general, has more VRAM, and has better DLSS tech.
When you get a 1440p monitor, if you ever do, you likely won't need a GPU upgrade.
