Feel like I was cat fished by Panera.

Ok-Candy6190@reddit
Looks just like their pic! Nailed it! 😐
My husband and I DoorDashed Panera one day. He ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich. It arrived with no chicken! 🤣 Just sauce, onion, and cheese on bread. How did the person preparing not notice?! He added some of his mom's leftover sloppy joe meat to make a weird, sad sandwich. We drove to that location later that night and got a refund. We still laugh about his chickenless chicken sandwich.
Hallelujah33@reddit
I don't understand why anyone goes there any more
Turbulent-Artist961@reddit
I don’t understand why people eat at Panera. Honestly
FantasticBreadfruit8@reddit
I had never tried it but it's all hyped up. Mind you, I live in a major food city with plenty of options. But I was absolutely shocked by how expensive it was for how shitty it was. Like it's worse than fast food but costs as much as a real restaurant.
Also, OP, avocado toast is cheap and easy to make! It's my go-to. Just slice avocados, salt and pepper, done. You can get fancier with it if you want, but I usually don't bother.
boolmi@reddit
I’m pretty sure OP is aware they can make food at home. Sometimes people do this thing where they let somebody else prepare food for them with ingredients they already have on hand. It’s pretty nice sometimes. Like if you’re tired and you’re low on groceries and you just want to pay some money to be able to eat a meal.
Stenthal@reddit
I used to get Panera often when I was traveling on business, because it was as convenient and consistent as fast food, but it felt more like real food. I haven't had a business trip since the COVID lockdown, but it definitely sounds like Panera has gone downhill.
BakerAcceptable28@reddit
Hey. Sometimes I want to pay $16 for a soggy bowl of slop. It's my right as an AMERICAN
Grodybro@reddit (OP)
Indeed mistakes were made. Learned a valuable lesson today.
Mrmetalhead-343@reddit
I'm honestly surprised panera is still in business. Their food was garbage when I went there 5 years ago and it looks like it's gotten even worse.
Butterbackfisch@reddit
Ordering an avocado on bread from delivery is a setup for disappointment
Grodybro@reddit (OP)
Thats the worst part I suppose. I didn't get this sadness delivered. I actually ordered and picked it up through the drive through. Its on me though that I didn't check it before leaving the parking lot.
Puzzleheaded-Slice88@reddit
Which one did you order? If its the classic it honestly doesn't look too far off.
And the bread being soggy and some of the topping falling off could easily be on you. That's not exactly a good food to order ahead of time and have it sitting in a container for who knows how long until you actually ate it.
boolmi@reddit
It does look far off. Do you have eyes?
tardis4500@reddit
Panera marketing department had entered the chat...
skillmau5@reddit
I feel like it would be so much better to just gopuff some nice bread and an avocado lmao
Butterbackfisch@reddit
That’s so much worse hahaha 😆 That’s a masterpiece of a „don’t give a flying fuck about my work“ attitude
Insignificant_Dust85@reddit
So you got the classic when you ordered the green goddess? Looks shitty regardless, definitely would put in a complaint.
Griffithead@reddit
Panera is fighting hard with Subway to see who can make the worst food.
They've really upped their game and are winning.
Anyone that pays money to them is a straight up moron.
carknut@reddit
Your first mistake was willingly ordering avocado toast from a restaurant
Hour-Dependent5295@reddit
Overpriced hospital cafeteria food
zeldafreak96@reddit
The good news is that if you complain on the app you can get gift cards. The bad news is they’re to Panera. The other good news, that’s free cookies and coffee.
WhyLisaWhy@reddit
Lol the bacon turkey bravo is usually a really solid choice. It is kind of expensive but if you've got the gift cards....
zeldafreak96@reddit
I like the tomato bread. They sell it in loaves. Yum
WhyLisaWhy@reddit
TIL Thanks for the advice!

Green goddess having a hard time I see, not enough acolytes
No_Clock2390@reddit
Subway and Panera are scams
AnActualBatDemon@reddit
I mean its panera. They aint good lol.
yzerizef@reddit
This is crazy to me. When I left the US, Panera was amazing. A bit pricey, but their soups and salads were great. Now all I hear is about how bad they are. Maybe I ruined Panera when I moved! Sorry everyone!
Raethule@reddit
Soups are still good. But you can buy them in a grocery store and microwave them yourself for half the price.
samkee00@reddit
When I bought a grocery store Panera chicken noodle, it was totally bland and didn't taste anything like the restaurant stuff, even though I know that is all prepackaged too. Bewildering and disappointing :(
Raethule@reddit
The broccoli cheese and the chicken rice both held up well to my experience. Might just be shoddy batching. Sometimes I get a bland one from restaurants.
MrFluffyThing@reddit
They were bought out in 2017 and the quality and portions have been slipping in the name of profits since
TheDevilishFrenchfry@reddit
I really like their cheddar brocolli but its just WAY WAY too expensive for the amount and ingredients.
PM_ME_YOUR_WOES_GIRL@reddit
There's a difference between being "not good" and false advertising. Putting ingredients in the picture that aren't in the actual product is the latter and should be illegal (don't know the law in the US concerning this).
almighty_ruler@reddit
We have fine print here, and it most likely says something like "the picture may not reflect end product" or something like that , and there's probably a clause that says "... based on available ingredients"
jellybeansean3648@reddit
Yeah but OP's example is pretty spectacularly bad. I ordered their avocado toast in person (listen, it was healthier than Denny's) and it didn't look anything like this abomination.
At this point, it's on a specific employee.
Obezyanki@reddit
I worked for panera for like two weeks and even the lettuce isn't fresh
giant_shitting_ass@reddit
Great if you feel like getting hospital food but cannot afford a hospital stay.
melissuhnicole@reddit
This is pretty bleak for certain.
fackshat@reddit
I miss when Panera was good, which is when I was a kid like 16 years ago.
thetyphonlol@reddit
who even buys avocado toasts over delivery? why dont you just toast a piece of bread and cut the avocado it takes like 2-3 min...
Maia_E@reddit
4 dollars for slice of bread and avocado? :( How much does these ingredients cost in your area? :(
happydoctor631@reddit
That’s why I barely eat out anymore
StreamFamily@reddit
You paid five bucks for the expression of depression
Gelato_Elysium@reddit
I'm not american, how much would it have been for OP to make that himself ?
It feels crazy to have somebody pay 5$ + service fee + delivery fee + tip for a simple toast that they could easily have made themselves for not even 1/5th of that (I think it would be less than 2€ in my country)
almighty_ruler@reddit
$5-8 ish dollars for a loaf of good sourdough bread, maybe a couple of dollars for an avocado. Overall, probably $15 or so to make 20 avocado toasts if you did it yourself
Vark675@reddit
Honestly, it is. I live in an area where avocados aren't great, but I can still buy them for about a dollar or so and just make this at home for roughly ⅕ the price and infinitely better with no real effort aside from getting the avocado seed off the knife blade.
WorkingPumpkin3231@reddit
Depression on toast, with a sprinkle of anxiety.
Grodybro@reddit (OP)
I sure did, 0/10 would not recommend.
Small_Tax_9432@reddit
Nah, that's a -10/10. F***in' bullsh**
cjones560@reddit
I ALSO RECENTLY ORDERED THIS TO MUCH DISAPPOINTMENT. I was SO excited, as I am a huge avocado toast fan and was met with this sore excuse. Will never forgive them for that
lawnderl@reddit
American dream right there. lol looks better than it is.
Leather-Molasses1597@reddit
I'd be going wild. Frightened feral animal trapped in a closed space kind of wild. Dicks!!!
usernmechecksout_@reddit
No god wants a hand in that crime of an avocado sandwich
Sirico@reddit
Lesson in just making your own food.
mattycbro@reddit
Why is that surprising? Panera is dog food
captstix@reddit
Panera needs to be shut down for false advertising at this point. I challenge anyone to get literally any sandwich from them, and have it look like the one on the menu
Groovemach@reddit
Hilarious to think that after 10:30 am they can no longer serve you a piece of bread with half an avocado lightly dusted with everything seasoning
keepitcleanforwork@reddit
The only thing good at Panera is their packaging.
dusty__rose@reddit
i hate that i love their mac and cheese SO MUCH. idk what it is but i love it. just needs a pinch of salt and it’s perfect imo
ostrichesonfire@reddit
It is amazing!! And you can conveniently get half of your daily calories in one tiny bowl!!!
agoia@reddit
And a full day's worth of sodium!
No-Attention-801@reddit
I love their soups 🤷🏻♀️
Lexiiboo97@reddit
Their broccoli cheddar soup hates to see me coming
Without-Reward@reddit
I haven't had one in years but their brownies were so good.
guilty_bystander@reddit
Panera hasn't been good for at least 10 years
iShrub@reddit
I seriously thought you put bitter gourd on top, which actually may be better than what you're having here.
Sirriddles@reddit
Panera is so fucking bad. I work in a hospital where the only food option besides the cafeteria is Panera. No employees ever go there lol.
Gyyn@reddit
never buy anything from panera bread
FinalSnow9720@reddit
Why do you order a slice of bread?
eli--12@reddit
They have only ever had one item from Panera I enjoyed and it hasn't been on the menu since like 2016
ITeechYoKidsArt@reddit
Damn, that actually made me flinch.
Grodybro@reddit (OP)
Right, jump scare 😂
ofthedappersort@reddit
I ain't sayin' nuthin' new but - Panera only stays in business because people at the office are too self-conscious to eat McDonalds in front of their co-workers.
vincenzo_vegano@reddit
The bread being soggy is due to it being delivered I guess? How would you prevent that? The rest still looks sad.
Grodybro@reddit (OP)
I actually picked up this sadness myself, through the drive through. Which I think makes it worse.
Jellyyyfishsea@reddit
“Here,damn.”
fucktooshifty@reddit
It's Panera, if that was actually 3.99 it was a steal, especially since they make the bread.
Fast_Ad7203@reddit
Leave a bad review
Longjumping_Lab_6739@reddit
Consumers are complete idiots and these companies bank on it. They're so lazy that they can't even spend 4 minutes constructing an avocado toast.
PeaOk5697@reddit
It shouldn't be allowed, just like that greek salad i ordered wich came without feta cheese and olives.
StrawbraryLiberry@reddit
Ew 😭 Unripe avocado is terrible.
Negative_Roof2659@reddit
$5.49 for this is robbery
DwightsBobblehead13@reddit
I don’t know why people keep going to Panera, same goes for Applebees lol
Pantsmagyck@reddit
Wait this is supposed to be Green Goddess, not regular Avocado Toast? That makes it even worse
This looks like something you find on the floor near a trashcan
ddoogg88tdog@reddit
Green godless avacado
kurly-bird@reddit
I understand not being at home and needing to eat something, ANYTHING, when you're out, but for the life of me I cannot understand why people would ever intentionally buy avocado toast.
castironrestore@reddit
The mistake was ordering that in the first place. You could make that at home for not even a dollar
zzvee@reddit
that is just disrespectful
Embarrassed_Word_542@reddit
I feel hate and anguish radiating off that.
SpaceboundSignal@reddit
Oh, that’s rough. Look less like avocado toast and more like an avocado had a rough landing on some bread. Panera really dropped the ball on this one.
StupidMario64@reddit
Yall realize avo toast at home is like... 5 bucks, and you can get more than...this depression.
Literally less than half a smashed avo would cover a slice.
Technical_Piglet_438@reddit
I would take it for 5$. Last time I ordered Avo Toast it was $15 for just the toast, bits of Avo and a handful of spring mix.
DigbyChickenZone@reddit
I have a feeling it's regional pricing. Anything with avocado in my area [even though avocados can be grown here] would be 10 bucks to start.
ImpulsivelyTentative@reddit
Holy shit that look depressing. I hope the person who made it is ok lmao
ninesevenecho@reddit
It’s missing the red and white
CaryTriviaDude@reddit
tell me you had a gift card or something and didn't pay over $6 for one piece of toast and 1/8 of an avacado...
Grodybro@reddit (OP)
InvisibleInk33@reddit
The bread was gonna be soggy regardless if this was a delivery
Tv_Rots_Your_Mind@reddit
That autumn squash soup is wicked tasty.
granitegumball@reddit
Panera has always been a scam
Grigori_the_Lemur@reddit
You were. Totally.
QRAZYD@reddit
I would feel insulted personally.
rgemi@reddit
panera honestly always catfishing
NorthernCobraChicken@reddit
I bet it cost $11.99
Anyone ordering food at Panera gets exactly what they deserve. The entire chain is wretched. I'm honestly not sure how they're still in business.
NinJ4ng@reddit
second slide says 5.50
Aridyne@reddit
Looks like they gave the wrong order in addition to not prepping the avocado properly
Lepke2011@reddit
And as an added kicker, even the avocado looks off.
Tpk08210@reddit
That’s nasty lol
BossyCow12159@reddit
Stopped going there for over a year now for exactly that reason and also they couldn’t fulfill any order I made ever
Aromatic-Rise1604@reddit
And not the battered and deep fried kind. Thats outrageous
BoneDaddy240@reddit
To be fair, the picture on the menu looks equally shitty…
SpeedBlitzX@reddit
More like Green Godless. Abandoned the place long ago.
PathsOfPain@reddit
Only thing good from Panera was the BBQ chicken mac n cheese and they just took it away
Baydestrians@reddit
IDK how u mess up avo toast but Panera did it.
