Thinking about signing up for adult rowing at Dallas United Crew (DUC)

After recently having a fallout with a friend, currently given up on the whole dating scene, I want to enjoy my summer and work on myself. So I’m considering signing up to do adult rowing to get out of my comfort zone, exercise, and hopefully meet new people who can potentially be new friends.
Has anyone on here done adult rowing in Dallas before? Any tips or advice about it?

I just did the last round do learn to row! It was a great experience, I felt it was worth it. I now know how to row and use the erg machine properly. I highly recommend it.
The instructors are great, they make sure you know the proper form and take time with each person. Also everyone who is an avid rower are very nice and welcoming people! It’s three days a week at 6am. Two days on the water (weather permitting) and Fridays in the power house where you row on the machines (this is where you get more close attention on form and a great workout).
It was so fun to be on the water and learn a new skill, it’s definitely not easy. I decided not to continue because of how early the practices were. Everything is at 6am whether you are in the water or inside training.
For meeting people, the crowd was more on the older side. I’m in my mid 30s and felt every one was in their 40s and 50s (those that continue to do the program). Some people my age but most already married in the learn to row group. So that was my experience with the group.
Hope this helps!

There's also a local dragonboat racing team around here if you want to give that a whirl

Haven’t done DUC, but rowed for but with White Rock Rowing (just across the lake). It’s great exercise, will definitely get you out of your comfort zone if you’ve never done it. It’s also a lot harder than it looks in terms of technique and balance.

I’m glad that it’s for a beginners class then 🥲 but I’m excited! I think it’ll help me a lot with my self-development.
