It's quite high compared to you Balkans since in Turkey there is strong Islamic legacy while Balkan Muslims are oppressed(same thing applies for ex Soviet Turkic nations). Yesterday I asked Kosovo sub which is only solid Muslim majority nation in Europe, and they said not more than 5 percent , so Balkan Muslims and Anatolian Muslims are not comparable since one was under oppression while other was independent and have strong Islamic legacy although tried to be destroyed by founders of Turkey , hijab was banned in Turkey for decades yet Anatolian Muslims resisted this and today that's why we have this rates, otherwise we would end up like Balkans and ex Soviet Turkic nations

Surely you can see the irony when talking about this specific topic
Only-Dimension-4424@reddit
Are you deny what Serbs did to Bosnians and Albanians , or what you and Bulgarians did to Turks in Greece and Bulgaria , there were a lot of pressure till 2000s
gk98s@reddit
I'm Turkish, but what about the things the Ottomans did to Christians?
Only-Dimension-4424@reddit
That's off topic
gk98s@reddit
your whole point is off topic.

Hmm.... peki ok

I would say these are too high, but maybe its a lot higher in the non-central parts of cities.
dont_tread_on_M@reddit
There's no way it's over 50% in the Ankara region
Lakuriqidites@reddit
Have you been to the central and eastern Anatolia?
It is pretty high
dont_tread_on_M@reddit
Yes, but in central Anatolia I doubt it's the majority. In eastern Anatolia, the figures make sense
Top-Classroom-6994@reddit
Most hijab wearing women tend to not go outside.
Butterter@reddit
And they are more older so less going outside
PrettyChillHotPepper@reddit
The closer to their Greek ancestry they are...
DranzerKNC@reddit
That’s a common meme but scientifically wrong. Turkish Aegean is where the Turkic/Siberian admixture is highest. Greek ancestry is highest in central Anatolia.
StPauliPirate@reddit
I think the western parts have the highest percentage of Turks with Balkan roots (albanians, macedonians, bulgarians). These people tend to be more liberal muslims.
DranzerKNC@reddit
Pretty much half of the total Turkish population was constructed by immigrants from Balkans and Caucasia during foundation of republic who were immigrating to Anatolia since late 17th century so it really make no sense. At this point pick a Random Turk and s/he will have at least one ancestor from Balkans or Caucasia.
Long_Try2224@reddit
Western Turkey genetically carries highest Turkic ancestry
PrettyChillHotPepper@reddit
I straight up don't believe it.
Lakuriqidites@reddit
This guy doesn't believe it so it shouldn't be true.

You can look some western Turkish results here (Muğla,Bolu,Aydın,Balıkesir,Düzce,Antalya,Denizli,Eskişehir etc
DranzerKNC@reddit
That’s literally direct science and mfers downvote it anyway lol. For some reason people wants actual Turks to identify as Greeks and non-Turk minorities as Turks.

I come from that north eastern portion with 74% and I can confirm 74% sounds about right.

Too many
Tanir_99@reddit
Bro, are you Turkmen?
Motor_Ad6523@reddit
These statistics are very high for the elderly. If you look at the younger generation, it is much lower. Also, the lifestyle of young girls who wear headscarves is generally more secular. I believe there is a social change.
