What do you think?

It's adding complexity. Keep the anchor system in good condition and you'll not need a retainer.
Adding such stuff causes for confusion in emergencies.

That is not true.

Is this supposed to be your anchor snubber while at anchor, or to keep the anchor from accidentally dropping if the windlass lets go?
If its your actual anchor snubber...what size boat is this? Are you using this in conjunction with a rope line of some sort (imo you need more than just that to adequately snub your rode)? I would be shocked if that little pad eye didnt rip right out of the deck when your boat starts tugging on the rode in 20+ kts of wind. If you're trying to tie the anchor down while sailing, i would use something with zero stretch, and again...a bigger padeye or a cleat.

Never going to be used as a snubber, just an “anchor safety retainer”
H0LD_FAST@reddit
Seems kind of unnecessary to spend $70 on a bungee cord for this, considering an anchor safety line would preferably not be stretchy at all…but you do you

The connection to the boat is insufficient, any impact and you will deal with two holes on the deck.
I always use the nearest cleat. And I would dimension the bolt sizes and deck position based on that.

It's also going to be kind of loud. With the chain always rubbing every time it swings and stretches.

No noise

This isn’t a snubber, its only to hold/secure the anchor when its up.
ratafria@reddit
Ok my bad
freakent@reddit
What is it supposed to do?

2nded. If it’s a snubber then why not just use the cleat and if it’s just to keep the anchor secure than why the elastic
Skipper_Carlos@reddit
Nope.

I use a chain hook on a dyneema strop to the nearest cleat to take the tension off the windlass when the anchor is up. I use a long piece of nylon 3 strand with an eye and a thimble in the end, soft-shackled to the chain at one end and hitched to a cleat as a snubber. So far it has been good in all conditions (tested up to 55kts).

I’d worry about the stresses on the pin of the bow roller.
My own boat has a seriously beefed up roller setup and a huge stainless bow setup to handle the hawsepipe anchor through the bow at a much better angle than what that would do.
seamus_mc@reddit
the stainless inside the anchor locker. and what looks like bow damage is actually unbuffed wax residue.

I like it. Tell me about the elastic element.

It is the Davis Shockles Line Snubber (2410), I changed out the existing carabiner though for a quick link.
