This driver got done dirty
Distinct_Self5679@reddit
Leave yourself an out...that's what I was told
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit (OP)
I roll an 80-footer car hauler, leaving yourself an out is mandatory. I usually park in a way that doesn't allow others to block my way, and if I can't I use cones.
mike-2129@reddit
He did it on purpose so he could sleep in.
Own-Load-7041@reddit
Always leave an out.
Key-Indication9664@reddit
It’s probably taken during Covid. That’s where they kept the bodies on ice.
acutemisadventure@reddit
There's always that one guy at the orgy..
RealSharpNinja@reddit
That driver was an idiot. Always have an escape plan!
bored_apeman@reddit
Guy who trained me said “ ALWAYS park to leave”
Comprehensive-Let232@reddit
Especially at a truck stop
roberttheiii@reddit
I am not a trucker but I also do this. People are like “why do you back park weirdo?” Because I know I have time now. Not sure the circumstances under which I will be leaving though…
Baberaham_Lincoln_69@reddit
It also just makes more sense to back into a space than it does to back out of it into potentially moving cars and people.
LuRkEr_ReKuL@reddit
My company has a policy for four wheeled cage drivers to park backed in. It reduces accidents. Backing into a spot, you have awareness of the road and parking area. Whereas, Backing out of the parking spot leaves you limited about the environment you’re entering.
jfweasel@reddit
I was taught the same thing and still practice it 20 years later.
RealSharpNinja@reddit
Before trucking, I have about 50,000 miles of rideshare under my belt. There is a lot of overlap in the kind of situational awareness required for both jobs. Knowing how to leave is just as important as finding the destination for both.
JankyMark@reddit
Facts like use your common sense
Eternal_Moose@reddit
Bro, we can't even read and you want us to have common sense too? So demanding.
JankyMark@reddit
I know to much to think about lol
puente636@reddit
Que?
Sir_Uncle_Bill@reddit
There's a problem with that. It's not very common.
GrilledCheeser@reddit
Ah yes. Something all truck drivers have.
ActionBastard117@reddit
This, driving dedicated dollar stores I learned quick on how not to box urself in
Robjla@reddit
No trucker would stay at a hotel in the first place
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit (OP)
Oh man I guess I'm not a trucker then. Guess I got to start stringing a hammock up on the back row of the piss soaked truck stop.
Meatbuns66@reddit
Lmao
JayGT1@reddit
Lots of places to park there
Salt_Bus2528@reddit
Never park in the middle of the lot.
MachStyle@reddit
To make it worse. There is no truck. That's just a refer trailer dropped in the middle of the lot. You can see the refer unit pointing away from the hotel with a car parked in front. Dude probably dropped it and left to do what ever and all the cars parked around it.
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit (OP)
I do see that oh my God that's even better
redittr@reddit
Might actually be there for the hotel.
Their coolroom might have failed, so they have this brought in to keep the food from going bad while they have the internal one repaired. This might have been the only spot clear when they delivered it.
meizhong@reddit
During a hurricane in Orlando FL once, I dropped my refer trailer at one of the customers on my route.
I basically made a deal with them, it gave me a place to leave the trailer so I could bobtail home (not that far away) and wait out the hurricane, and I showed them how to turn on and adjust the temp in case the power went out and they had to use it.
Win/win.
Of course, it was parked on the side building away from where cars parked.
Ancient-Composer7789@reddit
Good point.
shadowmib@reddit
Yeah I found it on street view and that's probably what it is. Either there walk-in cooler went out or maybe there was some big thing going on that they needed a bunch of extra cooler space to house everything temporarily. If I was curious enough I would just give them a call and ask lol
LuRkEr_ReKuL@reddit
It’s probably full of 18,000 lbs of rejected product.
Exotic_Macaron4288@reddit
Streetview seems to show the same reefer with a bus parked next to it.
Omardemon@reddit
Damn, didn’t notice that at first, good catch!
Medical_You_8964@reddit
He got the magic eye
Wizard_with_a_Pipe@reddit
Good eye! On closer look that's exactly right.
Konnie-@reddit
I understand your fear, but this dudes an idiot who parks blocking 2 parking rows? And for a business that's active on top off that?
Pitiful_Owl_4141@reddit
Nobody with a brain is parking right there
Sada_Yukinaga_2@reddit
Wouldn't it make sense to call 911 and they'll dispatch tow trucks?
Anxious_Ad909@reddit
What trucker would park like that anyway. Find you a corner and make sure you have an out
aJaxtheProtector@reddit
Why on EARTH would you park in the middle of a parking lot?? Also, there must have been very minimal cars for him to get there in the first place
Rex_Uru@reddit
That driver didn't "get done dirty" - that driver is an idiot and shouldn't have a CDL. What the fuck he think was gonna happen here parking in the middle of the lot. "OH am a big truck they wouldn't dare park all around and block me in" fucktard deserved it.
Hope his appointment was at 6AM next door to the hotel.
RxdditRoamxr@reddit
Drivers an idiot yes, but shouldn’t have a CDL? Because he made a stupid parking decision? seems like overkill.
Rex_Uru@reddit
Yea. Its driving 101. Leave yourself an out. Even if the lot was completely empty, parkimg in the middle of a parking lot not designed for 75 foot vehicles is incompetence
RxdditRoamxr@reddit
Like I said, drivers an idiot….It’s driving 101 for OTR guys that sleep in trucks. But this could be a day cabs first overnight hence the hotel maybe he’s never had to consider leaving the next day. To say they shouldn’t have a cdl because they chose a shitty parking spot that doesn’t put anyone at risk is top tier bs. They made a stupid mistake and will have to deal with the consequences ie getting people to move before they can leave. But this is nowhere close to something you shouldn’t have a cdl over. You’re being dramatic
Rex_Uru@reddit
Get your eyes checked. It is clear that's not a day cab.
If it was also, as a day cab guy, we still know better than park where we will get stuck.
Common sense, man. If they do something that stupid and incompetent. Guaranteed they also do stupid shit while driving.
And having an opinion is not being dramatic. The drama is you trying to tell me my opinion is wrong cause you think its an honest mistake. This is not painting with Bob Ross and happy accidents.
RxdditRoamxr@reddit
Lmaooo telling me to get my eyes checked when it’s a trailer with no truck attached is hilarious. Maybe you shouldn’t have a cdl
BigMikeAltoona@reddit
Who parks in the middle. I always parked on the side of the hotel when I had to stay.
TheHookahgreecian2@reddit
Lol he ain't getting out
RxdditRoamxr@reddit
Where those school buses are is the commercial parking section. I drive by there daily. This driver is an idiot. There’s also a section you can park on the road directly outside that hotel of the lot is full
mada447@reddit
Guys am I the only one that sees there is no truck and this is just a trailer only?
shadowmib@reddit
No, I looked it up on street view and it's just a reefer trailer
Beneficial_Mood_2978@reddit
Can’t see? I’m barely getting my cdl so I don’t know what to expect. What’s going on?
PGMHN@reddit
That truck is boxed in and probably doesn’t have enough space to pull out
shadowmib@reddit
There's actually no truck, just the reefer trailer
dehkan@reddit
Probably nothing. He definitely isn't getting out of there without some cars moving
xDoomKitty@reddit
He also ain't getting out of there without a truck
PGMHN@reddit
I initially replied after a quick glance, then i putt my glasses on and looked closer
UScratchedMyCD@reddit
Truck thought he was the main character and decided to park right in the middle of the carpark ignoring the fact it would undoubtedly fill out. Truck will now be regretting his decisions as he sees if he was will to walk a couple hundred feet in the first place and park in one of about a dozen different other spots in that photo as he's not going anywhere without finding a bunch of car owners to shift for him.
daemonescanem@reddit
No that's driver let himself get trapped.
Always pick a hotel you can park at and have a way out.
shadowmib@reddit
It's actually a dropped reefer trailer. The hotels probably using it as extra freezer space or something
shadowmib@reddit
I found the location in Toronto. I use street view to eyeball the lot and it shows there's a couple of buses and a dropped reefer trailer in there on street view LOL
Sufficient_Wall5192@reddit
Always told to park where you don't get blocked. Be in a position to not back out. Keep forward.
Sufficient_Tooth_949@reddit
Why would you not park on the edge?!? Plenty of room to be out of the way there
SharkDad20@reddit
At least its not going anywhere. He left it in a safe place!
dz1n3@reddit
Smacks the roof* "This bad boys not going anywhere!"
itsjustmeto@reddit
I mean. Why wouldn’t you park along the outer edge of the parking lot.
W1D0WM4K3R@reddit
Anyone else see the dock situation up top and think that one guy is a bit of a jerk for parking next to the fence in the choke?
Then I saw the reefer in the hotel lot lol.
illdoitlaterokay@reddit
It could just be storage for a renovation company or something. Need 300 new mattresses? Lot easier pulling off a truck as needed then torturing the fedex driver.
Dorito-Bureeto@reddit
He went short instead of long at the end
AdventurousLawyer646@reddit
Trying to be courteous I'm sure. But he learned a valuable lesson this time.
HowlingWolven@reddit
That driver parked the wrong way.
NickAppleese@reddit
WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO PARK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING LOT!?
AATW702@reddit
I see a few places where this jackass coulda parked 🤣🤣🤣
kanodoggg@reddit
That driver wasn't forward thinking
Candid_Bet9603@reddit
Yeah that's a night mare
Live_Quality_7127@reddit
I would’ve parked on the sidelines.. Unless ur bobtail I would definitely park in the parking lot, but if I got a trailer I’m on the side lines. 😂
loverd84@reddit
Self induced fear????
West_Imagination3237@reddit
Why would someone park a tractor-trailer in such a way?
P0667P@reddit
for those curious minds - LOCATION
skeletons_asshole@reddit
Congrats! You live there now
happyexit7@reddit
Why would anyone park and not give yourself an out?
Microshlongg@reddit
Took me a while to figure out what everyone was talking about. For the legally blind folks look in the parking lot of the hotel you’ll see a white truck with a trailer.
XXXKXXXXKX@reddit
And if you look even harder you’ll see there’s not a truck and that it’s a car parked facing the trailer.
Microshlongg@reddit
😮😮😮😮
Beneficial_Mood_2978@reddit
Ohhh crap I see it! I was looking at the red point. That’s messed up. Do you usually have a good spot to park at hotels? Or can it be 50/50
PlsCheckThisBush@reddit
Always Google maps the location and ask when you call them. Most of the ones with truck parking have a gravel or dirt lot for the trucks - it keeps jackass 4 wheelers out of parking there. Some of them have actual pavement but 9/10 times it’s filled with 4 wheelers towing their off-road toys or the classic U-Haul that thinks they’re a big truck and parks sideways in the middle. The terrible lot conditions and being far away to waddle to the front door makes them think twice. The best ones are mall parking lot hotels - tons of room and it’s paved.
You sort of make a mental list of what hotels are worth a shit for parking. Like a couple have “truck parking” but it’s 2 spots, 1 way in, and back-in only and a 97’ set of triples doesn’t exactly maneuver like that and you’re not guaranteed a safe spot when you get there. So you adjust your game plan for where you can safely put yourself and the truck for the night.
Financial-Prize9691@reddit
Hotels that advertise for truck drivers usually have dedicated parking spots
Metaltom1970@reddit
Looks like it’s in service to the hotel.
Mikey24941@reddit
When I drove a bus after dropping the group off and my stuff and I would park at the back or sometimes a neighboring business that wasn’t open at night.
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit (OP)
With everybody having cameras, triggered alerts that usually doesn't work. I would never do that in a state with predatory towing as well, they'd see my car hauler as a huge piggy bank.
Mikey24941@reddit
Due to the schedule for buses I was pretty much always able to secure permission when parking before they closed. It also used to be you could park in Walmarts too
Free-Juggernaut-9372@reddit
That wasn't a smart place to park
AustinLostIn@reddit
Dude they parked dead center in the lot... guaranteed trap
jackfanta09@reddit
That driver done. Fucked up
Ok-Indication-8992@reddit
Most likely a storage trailer for construction at the motel
JankyMark@reddit
lol that’s just common sense
scottiethegoonie@reddit
This made me lol.
decjr06@reddit
That driver did himself dirty
SmokieHokie512@reddit
4 wheelers didnt know any better. He fucked up by not parking on the curb on the bottom of the photo.
UScratchedMyCD@reddit
4 wheelers are the only ones parking properly in this picture - they have nothing to answer for.
unloader86@reddit
They are a moron for even parking there to begin with. There is a nice area above that they could've taken and not dealt with the bullshit.
