This bike would be for san francisco so I need some powerful midrive. Also does bbs02 have a throttle?

Yes, as others said. Check the bottom bracket width before you order. Motors have different bracket sizing for different bottom brackets.

I'd chuck a mid in there for sure, but be aware that you prob will have to gear it down that looks like 11 gears and the 3 bikes my BBSHD has been through it has to be 8 speed.

Yes and Yes. Why not go with a bbshd or a ToSeven DM01? Always better to have more power than you need.

Bbshd is slightly bigger and is more popular. There are more spare parts out there.

It'll fit and it has a throttle. There are no hills in SF that'll even stress the BBS02 with the gearing on that rear wheel.
That's the charm of bafang motors, they'll fit a very wide range of bikes.
