Event parking prices, but still ... Wtf
Ok_Championship_385@reddit
Sigh. Why does Dallas always try to act like it is Manhattan? When it really isn’t.
HomeworkWorldly2002@reddit
Park at market center station and one stop DART to victory station—right in front of AA center
JRLDH@reddit
I don't know why DART isn't used more. After I stupidly didn't check and paid >$400 parking at DFW earlier this year, I decided to take DART, all the way from my house (bus + blue line + orange line) to DFW. $3 and 2 hours one way. Yes, it takes longer but it's also super convenient.
NecessaryViolenz@reddit
How in the world was DFW $400 for parking?
JRLDH@reddit
It’s $32/day if you aren’t pre-reserving your space for parking at the terminal. I was on a two week vacation. $448.
And no, you don’t need to rub it in, I already know that I was stupid and wrote this to in my previous post.
NecessaryViolenz@reddit
I was late for an international flight and terminal parked for three weeks. Shit sssuuuccckkeeddd.
miketag8337@reddit
This is why I uber to the airport
Swdannycactus@reddit
i’m just outside the airport, it’s $60- $70 r/t with no tip on uber
Intelligent-Award881@reddit
My recommendation in the future is to use The Parking Spot. There are a couple around both DFW and Love Field. I use their app to reserve and pay. Way easier and much cheaper. They also are in other cities, as well. We live and learn.
JRLDH@reddit
Yeah, I used to do this for many years but then I became too lazy and just splurged on terminal parking when it wasn’t quite as expensive as it’s now.
If I have to deal with the hassle of waiting for a shuttle and daisy chaining for 15 minutes through various terminals then I might as well use DART and not even take my car to a parking spot (which charges extra for covered parking, which is mandatory for me having lost two cars to hail in the past).
But yes, it’s definitely an option if one doesn’t mind the shuttle hassle.
Intelligent-Award881@reddit
I 💯 understand! We do have to pick our battles;)
AnnoyingVoid@reddit
Heck. I took the Amtrak from freaking temple one way for $12 to Fort Worth and then $2 from Fort Worth to DFW on the TRE train and it only took 30 minutes longer than if I drove and saved a bundle on parking
Woody1776@reddit
Just a warning. I parked here for a Stars game once. When we were coming back I saw guys actively breaking into my truck. Luckily, a big group of us from the train chased them off but not before they did thousands of dollars of damage to my truck. Also, could have got shot. I got lucky that day. Be safe everyone.
hananobira@reddit
Lots of DART stations have free parking, once you get out of the downtown area a ways.
CPLCraft@reddit
Did this for the state fair. $3 for an evening pass and just one transfer from where I parked. I was packed like a sardine on the way back and had to work our way through to get in at the time of closing but I would do it again for the convince of not having to drive all the way downtown to fair park and pay $20-$40 for parking.
saysthingsbackwards@reddit
just an FYI, the fare has been updated to $3 for 3 hours, or 6 for the day
Psybeam60@reddit
in my experience the state fair is wayyyy more crowded than the typical AAC event on DART thankfully
custardisnotfood@reddit
That’s how I got to the state fair too! Worked really well
xenokilla@reddit
mockingbird station is great
sharknado523@reddit
I was also going to suggest Mockingbird.
DMTryp@reddit
I waited for months and months for a bike locker there
The day after my bike got stolen I got a call saying a bike locker was now available...
SharkSheppard@reddit
Was your bike inside?
hananobira@reddit
Yeah, that’s my go-to.
HomeworkWorldly2002@reddit
Very true, meant to mention that. I’ve done that a lot— parked even further up stream (but closer to home) and then DART in
Zhombe@reddit
The parking lot slumlords give kickbacks to city council to maintain their monopolies and optimum extraction of obscene fees.
TTUporter@reddit
And parking is free!
stojanowski@reddit
Man we used the dart for the cotton bowl... Way up not bad, getting out another story
saplinglearningsucks@reddit
Please stop telling people this lol
Valencia117@reddit
I’ll fucking park in some parking garage by the Sheraton and walk my ass over. Quit being lazy
Familiar-Crow8245@reddit
Like Jim Carrey said, "That's too, much!"
Icy-Refrigerator-633@reddit
dart is free
No_Opportunity_2558@reddit
Is cheap but is not free
texanbychoice106@reddit
Use the spot hero ap. It has found me great spots for cheap.
ihasanemail@reddit
Best event deal in DFW will always be $75 to park at the Cici's across from AT&T Stadium since everyone in the car gets a free Cici's buffet. Have watched SUVs stuffed like clown cars fight on Collins over the last spots.
Status-Cover5949@reddit
But Cici’s sucks lol
Guitarista78@reddit
Park under the 366 highway (HOB lot) and walk it. I think I paid $6 for a Stars game.
melx1599@reddit
The dart is way to go!! Did that for Mavs game !
sliccrikk@reddit
Prices go up depending on the event. Parking for a different concert this year was $35.
retiredfromfire@reddit
Big D stands for Big Dollar. Dallas is as expensive AF
bright1111@reddit
We live in a major metro area, take public transit
LeonDJuda@reddit
Do they was your car at least?
El_alacran214@reddit
Uber
MarkTwang-@reddit
Is this the lot directly in front? I feel like the parking garages aren’t $75…
Larc0m@reddit
Yeah the orange lot is right outside of AAC
AntoineEx@reddit
I paid it once. Honestly, it was worth it. You park steps away from the entrance.
sinovesting@reddit
I get that we all like convenience but $75 to save ~5 minutes of walking is not worth it at all to me. To each their own.
Larc0m@reddit
I go to a lot of Stars games and normally park in Lexus garage. It’s pretty much the same distance but normally cheaper
spectrem12@reddit (OP)
Prices at all parking lots in the immediate vacinity are 45 or higher. I don't know what the garages are at.
foreverkasai@reddit
The one right next to DART was $35 then it shot up to $75 during the Stars WCF games. If it stays that high I can’t imagine going to many more games.
Substantial-Ad-8575@reddit
Dang, get parking with our Stars season tickets.
stxrlesseyes@reddit
Yeah... I'll just pay $5 to park down under 345 and walk a mile.
hananobira@reddit
Get a Perot Museum membership. $5 parking in the lot across from the museum. Caveat: you have to go inside the museum while they’re open to get the parking ticket so you’d have to get there pretty early for night games. But if you were planning to get dinner beforehand anyway it works out.
Tucson_FZ777@reddit
Great idea. We joined the DMA to park for free at Kyle Warren.
hananobira@reddit
Ooh, I like free better than $5!
The cool thing about membership at the Perot is you get free admission to most of the major science museums around the country. So every time we take a family road trip we get to visit a couple of science museums. The in-laws are in Chicago, so we get to go into the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science & Industry, etc. free. We definitely get our money’s worth.
Peakbrowndog@reddit
This is true of most museums, like the DMA, the Kimbell, the Modern. Almost all large museums have this as a benefit.
omar_strollin@reddit
And gardens!
Strong_Attempt4185@reddit
Or just ride the train for $3
thecobra42@reddit
You can park at happiest hour for free and it’s closer
pearso66@reddit
Don't give away the secret lol. I throw them $10-$20 tip when I park there. I'm usually right out too.
thecobra42@reddit
I always get out pretty quick unless it’s a Friday or Saturday night. Those nights are utter chaos.
pearso66@reddit
I've been to plenty of hockey games on those nights. Takes maybe 10 minutes to get the car, then i cut across the behind the parking lot and get right to 75. Super easy
nomadschomad@reddit
Take Uber, Lyft, or DART.
Longstrongandhansome@reddit
If you have a Lexus you can park in the Lexus garage for $30-$40 unless that changed
aaronle06@reddit
What is the event?
spectrem12@reddit (OP)
Lil Baby

LoveClimateChange@reddit
Trump convention lol
CollectMan420@reddit
There’s a parking lot a mile away by a restaurant called Haywire my little secret to you
gibbyhikes@reddit
I haven't been down there for a game or event in a couple of years but I used to Park under Woodall Rogers across from Hooters pretty cheap, or the lot just on the south side (near the Aquarium) and walk down, grab a bite beforehand.
nhogan84@reddit
DART DART DART DART DART cmon y'all it's really that simple
VeViArgh@reddit
Looks like the prices we use to pay in San Francisco for a Giants game. That was 8 years ago. Can only imagine what they are now.
Public transportation is best.
CreamsicleArmy@reddit
The Tom Thumb garage, 2nd level. Even for big events there is usually not an attendant and the rate for 3+ hours is i think $12. Used it for 3 Stars playoff games and it was half empty each time. Easy in, easy out.
spectrem12@reddit (OP)
Thats useful, but I was just pointing out the absurdity of charging $75 to park for a concert for 3 hours.
soonerfreak@reddit
We have public transportation, this is a fee for people not using it.
taco_penance9@reddit
I can hear the sad walk music from Arrested Development just looking at this photo.
Robinyount_0@reddit
DART and it it’s not running, uber
llamalovedee123@reddit
Dart all the wayyyy
foreverkasai@reddit
If only it came to Arlington…..
JB-Wentworth@reddit
LOL! Jerry would never allow that to happen !
fleashosio@reddit
DART is the way to go when you're heading there. Even if the parking was FREE I wouldn't bother, as the traffic getting in, and even more so getting out, is a nightmare. Forget that, I'm taking the train. Even when I was a train operator for DART, that was a reliable source of passengers, because so many people realize that driving there sucks. If they can, they'll stage a red and blue line extra train in a pocket track nearby, and when whatever event is going on ends, they send those out a bit after. So even folks coming in from the north on the red or blue line get a direct connection home.
spectrem12@reddit (OP)
Yeah but DART doesn't do any runs from end to end after 1230AM. Hence why some people still drive.
saysthingsbackwards@reddit
download the gopass app and check it
fleashosio@reddit
That's fair. When I was an operator, we would send extra trains, and even hold a third event train that was a green line towards the north side, and they'd all wait no matter how late it got. I remember being an AA event train and we didn't go until like 2am or something because a sports game (hockey I think) went well into overtime. Wayyyy into overtime. Oh well. We waited, and all those folks still had a train at 2am.
Does DART still do that? Usually, no. Not out of spite, they just don't have enough working train cars and avaliable operators to be able to always do that. So if your concert or what have you is getting out past 1AM, you might have an issue. But a game that starts at 6pm or something, you'll be fine.
LittleTXBigAZ@reddit
Oh buddy, I feel you. I worked an event train once for a concert for some big time Indian pop star and they did THREE encores at three or four songs each. I sat in that pocket track until damn near 0130 just watching the overtime rolling in 🤣
waitstaph@reddit
Also, new FTA rules about shuttle service made it basically illegal to run event service
truth-4-sale@reddit
Welcome to Downtown Dallas, and enjoy your visit ! ! ! !
DoubleBookingCo@reddit
I feel you that is a lot, but people do pay it. Dallas is such a cheap place to park otherwise, compared to any major city our size.
There are meters in our city that are $0.50 per hour. Thats wild.
yummyjackalmeat@reddit
If only we had some sort of rapidly moving transit vehicle that could get us there for only a few dollars. A sort of "Dallas Area Rapid Transit" if you will.
bikerdude214@reddit
Because the Perot family ain’t rich enough….
socrates_friend812@reddit
This should be illegal.
Powerful_Mango_3746@reddit
Honestly I just take a Lyft. Yes it’s usually 50-60 bucks (adding both to and from here not 50-60 each way) but I don’t have to worry about getting there early (physical disability and can’t walk too far) and in most lots it’s a saving, plus not worrying about after-event traffic and sitting back is so worth it!
tmanarl@reddit
So don’t park there
therealallpro@reddit
Should be even higher.
Dick_Lazer@reddit
DART rail is like $3.
IN4RNO@reddit
You can park at the Mavs practice facility on the other side of 35. It’s less than $10 if I remember correctly and it’s a 10 minute walk to AA. Extremely well lit and police presence as well for traffic purposes.
GloomyHamster@reddit
can get out of that area faster too
wannabetmore@reddit
A 5 mile Uber/Lyft with surge pricing makes it around $100 round trip too.
Upbeat-Lobster-8840@reddit
1333 N Stemmons Fwy on the ParkWhiz app is. 0.6 mile walk but only costs $5
kanemeroy77@reddit
Daym, that's affected by tariffs
PresidentBaileyb@reddit
If you want to park and walk, message me! I live right up the street and will take as many people in my garage as want to come for $10 a pop. It’s the Alexan if you want to look at Google maps for distance
kingstante@reddit
When was this photo taken? This was the parking price for the NHL Western Conference Finals, which goes up $10 each round
20grae@reddit
I always got there early and parked in the garage across the street next to the w for free
holy-dragon-scale@reddit
Yes came here to say this!!!! I always got there two hours early and got free parking every time. I’ve never paid for parking at any concerts there 🤣🤣
Clown45@reddit
Man back in my day when that shit was only $50 🤣
Glueberry_Ryder@reddit
lol my wife and I went to Jerry World for a concert and got into a lane where people were lined up to park but there was no one in the lot and they all kept turning around when they got to the attendant, it very clearly said public parking so I stayed in line to see why they were all leaving. $100 to park. It was a lot perfect lot. Close to the entrance and a straight shot out to 30. I’m ashamed to say I paid it. But at the end of the night it made it worth it to simply walk out and be out of the nonsense within 5 minutes of getting to the car. Actually would do again. 🫤
lordbatman214@reddit
Thats why Noone is there. Its always easier to Uber
rabidwolf86@reddit
Might have free parking at Illinois station, but do i really wanna park there. Sigh
TheBuzzTrack@reddit
The parking lot next to the Dallas Mavs practice center is dirt cheap.
littlehockeypuck@reddit
15 years or so ago I used to pregame there for free. 😭
typhoonjerry@reddit
All those condos robbed the parking.. Park and ride on the dart rail.
BlackStarCorona@reddit
Yup. Went to a Stars game maybe last year, paid $35 for parking. Went this year and it was almost $60. I used to live downtown and just took a $10 uber. Now I’m in suburbia and going sucks.
BamaPhils@reddit
Park and ride DART. A ton of people do it from Carrollton/Farmers Branch
cruz-77@reddit
At those prices, ordering an Uber Black SUV is cheaper 💀
Blackchaos93@reddit
Once spent $100 just to get shit, piss, and blood on my car within the first 30 seconds and walk in at halftime at AT&T stadium.
Last time I went we rolled around for well into the second quarter before I had to piss. Paid $100 to be across the street and stepped out of my car to piss by the tire and into a pile of fresh diarrhea. Guess that’s karma for literally in the next moment doing a #1 in the same parking lot. The real bonus was that I had been holding it for so long that the adrenaline rush of slipping in poop plus that led me to get a nosebleed before I was done pissing.
Quite the shitshow I had to gather together before walking in.
gr0uchyMofo@reddit
It’s $75…but most parking lot attendants will ask for a lower fare, in cash, and pocket it.
ThinLength123@reddit
That’s smart. I’d rather pay them 40 bucks than the corporation
Rakebleed@reddit
shhhh!
Mnudge@reddit
It’s obscene to be honest. Tollways are just as bad.
plastic_jungle@reddit
That’s capitalism baby
ByronFerrari@reddit
Park at Reverchon Park and then walk fifteen minutes to the arena using the Katy Trail. You could also park in the Design District or the West End and walk from there.
hastinapur@reddit
People usually get frustrated with the business but the truth is there are enough folks who are willing to pay. People get upset with Ticketmaster but the go ahead and buy the tickets anyway. A business will charge the maximum amount that it can get away with.
FaBiOtHeGrEaTeSt@reddit
Just pay the 5 dollars under Woodall Rodgers and walk 10 minutes
JerryTexas52@reddit
Park and ride the light rail instead. Free parking and a ticket is cheap. We always ride the rail downtown instead of parking there.
Sterfrydude@reddit
i lost my shit when we went to the stars game a couple months ago. she said “yeah as the games get more competitive/popular/closer to playoff then they raise the rates. 🥵
i agree dart is the way, dunno why we didn’t do that we live close to a station just stops away. 🤦♂️
llort_tsoper@reddit
That's enough to buy 2 beers inside the AAC.
thecobra42@reddit
I’ll let you guys in on a little secret… they have free valet parking at happiest hour. Right by the arena and it will only cost you a tip.
rds060184@reddit
Dart!
thecobra42@reddit
Park at a dart station and use the train
bevkiefner@reddit
Moving on to different topic... Are seeing Lil Baby tonight?
817bdk@reddit
Fort Worth tried to show y'all you were growing too fast. The bigger the city the more money people think you have so the more money you have to spend.
Don't Dallas the rest of Texas.
Rakebleed@reddit
You can thank Jerry Jones for that. ATT stadium drove up parking prices everywhere in the metroplex. These idiots keep paying it too.
Kommanderson1@reddit
Wait till you find out about JerryWorld…
DonkeeJote@reddit
And draconian parking minimums help the public subsidize this behavior!
Glad we're trying to move away from those.
Upstairs_Balance_464@reddit
Yep. And people pay it, which is why it costs that much. Same as the price of everything else.
Independent-Expert89@reddit
Wait a minute they forgot per hour, be careful they will automatically call a tow truck after an hour....
