My two never-ending projects. 2006 Z06 and 1990 LS/T56 swapped Camaro
VelvetM3rlin@reddit
My idiot brain would immediately start trying to fit that powertrain/suspension in the 3rd gen…
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
It's mostly there already. It's LS powered and has the same T56 6-speed
VelvetM3rlin@reddit
Sick
rsb213@reddit
What’s the plans for the z? Have a black C6 GS project myself
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
Outside of basic maintenance items its getting heads, cam, intake, throttle body, injectors, long tubes, and a stronger clutch. The goal is around 650hp to the wheels. Although its not the most fun to work on, I love the C6 platform. It's still a world-class sports car to this day.
rsb213@reddit
Very nice. Make sure you get a remote bleeder and be really careful about fire proofing all your lines/cables near the headers. Burned mannnny things.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
The remote bleeder is definitely on my list. I've already fought that battle on the T56 in my Camaro. Same with heat shielding. I've learned a lot the hard way. Any other suggestions on what I should be looking at or replacing while this deep? I've only owned the car for a year, but it does have almost 120k on it.
rsb213@reddit
Replace engine mounts, slave cylinder, make sure your power steering lines are 10000000% leak proof. The absolute worst design in the world. Make sure the fan connector isn’t melted, in fact just replace it with a high amp anderson connector because it will melt if you haven’t already replaced it. Get a good harmonic balancer. Stock ones are terrible and will fail 100% of the time, they’re if not when.
I like to replace the brake booster hose with generic vacuum line so it’s more flexible taking the intake manifold on and off for servicing.
Run your flex fuel sensor wire now if you plan on doing it.
Definitely definitely definitely heat shield the absolute shit out of the starter and bypass the alternator being wired to the starter and run alt directly to fuse box post. Otherwise the headers will melt your alt/starter wire junction post on the starter and leave you stranded with low voltage.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
Thank you for the time you put into your response. I appreciate it. I will be doing all of this.
Several-Gain-7157@reddit
It’ll make playing in the garage more fun.
Several-Gain-7157@reddit
Finish the garage
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
I will eventually, but right now it's functional. Between ranching, work, kids, and the pictured projects some things get less attention (usually my sanity).
Hey_Coffee_Guy@reddit
Did you read the post? How is there time to finish something as mundane as walls in the garage? lol
savory_thing@reddit
Yea, there's room in that garage for another one.
Hey_Coffee_Guy@reddit
Totally. And even if there isn’t another project vehicle yet, there’s at least plenty of room to start building the next engine for a future project.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
Already have one. It's on the engine stand in the background
Intheswing@reddit
Shame on you for tempting fate for this guy!!
Baydestrians@reddit
Always wanted a lift in my personal garage. Glad ur living the dream
RuddyOpposition@reddit
They aren't that expensive, honestly, you just have to have tall ceilings in your garage to be able to use them. Add the height of your vehicle to your own height, plus a bit more. So, if you are 6' tall and you have a GT-40, you basically need 10' tall ceilings. Of course, for a regular car you need more like 11-12' ceilings and probably more like 14' or higher ceilings for a truck.
My ceiling is just over 8' high :/
Remote-Cap-676@reddit
How much was yours? What would you say is average pricing?
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
I paid $5500 for mine two years ago, and installed it myself. I see them fairly often on marketplace for around $3-4k used. Mine is a 10k and easily lifts my 1-ton dually
iadubber@reddit
At least you have a lift to do shit
Lordrandall@reddit
Damn, nice garage. My garage could fit in yours, and you would still have room for a car.
AdOdd1841@reddit
Sweet Camaro, gives me the urge to finish my Z03 🤝🏼
Cantaloupe-Forward@reddit
“Just one more thing then it’ll be perfect” is the lie I keep telling myself
traffic_pe@reddit
I'm diagnosed with the same condition, unfortunately there's no cure.
Cantaloupe-Forward@reddit
This combined with Facebook marketplace ends up with my partner and I have 7 cars between the two of us lol. 2 daily’s, 2 running and 3 non running projects
traffic_pe@reddit
1985 IROC Z
shrekerecker97@reddit
are you me? this sounds like me lol
Cantaloupe-Forward@reddit
CJ pony parts gets me with every sale. Yes, I definitely should upgrade [insert sale part that is working perfectly fine]
shrekerecker97@reddit
Ooh upgraded aftermarket..... I can skip on (anything extra xyz) for a month or two Rinse ans repeat
cat_of_danzig@reddit
I know the Z06 is the star here, but that Camaro makes me happy. From the Corvette wheels to the Student Driver windshield banner to the Group B worthy lights, to how hilariously tail-happy I bet it is, it's beautiful.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
It has just the right amount of horsepower to be fun yet reliable. It just needs better seats to hold me in place.
cat_of_danzig@reddit
Thanks for reminding me of this gem.
Seriously, though, that Camaro is perfect.
Jackislawless@reddit
I knew what that was before I clicked it
Hey_Coffee_Guy@reddit
But if you’re going to upgrade the seats, you might as well…
Jackislawless@reddit
I spy a radical 3rd gen.
No_Manches_Man@reddit
That Camaro is too sexy, needs a NSFW tag.
AudioTechYo@reddit
$10 says your a disabled veteran.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
You owe me $10. Never served, but I sure do appreciate everyone who has.
Hey_Coffee_Guy@reddit
But you are disabled. We all are. How else can you explain tearing apart a perfectly fine vehicle to make it better? lol
Sadly(?), no cure for this disability is likely to be found.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
No argument there
NeedMoneyForTires@reddit
... body swap the cars.
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
I already LS/T56 swapped the Camaro, and it's at about the same power level. The only major difference is the independent rear
mad_p0tat0@reddit
You can start to heal when you admit you have a problem
Hey_Coffee_Guy@reddit
I have a problem.
When I have time to work on my projects, I have no money. When I have money to work on my projects, I have no time.
When does the healing start?
OptiGuy4u@reddit
Personal lift demands this type of action! Good for you!
Hey_Coffee_Guy@reddit
Right? I mean why have it if you aren’t going to use it?
KittiesRule1968@reddit
I had a c6 briefly. The fact that the driveline and rear suspension have to come out to do stuff like replace a clutch turned me off. 974RWHP and lots of track days meant clutch replacement at least once every 8 months.
NuclearWasteland@reddit
Well, from experience the 3rd Gen won't let you leave it alone.
InPicnicTableWeTrust@reddit
Rusty cars are friends that need to be nursed back to health... and modified and repainted and hot rodded.
Well, then they need a forever home....
FoFoJoe@reddit
Hell yeah. Let's see more of that Camaro

Valuable_Option7843@reddit
Off topic but this yellow brick hardware sign is awesome too.

it wouldn't be fun if you did right?
Are those C5 wheels on the camaro? they look awesome
ls1c-10@reddit (OP)
Yes, C5 Z06. 17" in front 18" in back
FormulaZR@reddit
RS - Rally Sport was just a model trim, they didn't mean for you to make it into a rally car. :)
Bob_tebuilder@reddit
The next best be another but with a 6 in lift and mid wheels!!!
alex053@reddit
If I had the space I’m sure my project would look just like that. Lol
Keep up the good work!!
