I have a large stockpile of 124gr +P HST, the only round I carry, but still compulsively buy random defense ammo whenever I see it.

I made the mistake of stocking up on one brand of hollowpoints when on rebate. I later saw ballistic gel tests of them not expanding. Oops. They were sierra bullets.
Ok_Inflation4291@reddit
I didn't stockpile, but I do have 400-500 rounds of the sierra ammo. Can't remember exact pricing, but it was the cheapest HP at the time.

Large stockpile defined only by counting pallets

Never know when you might encounter a Pokémon weak to that exact type.

I keep a full case of HSTs on my shelf. Plus whatever is left of the open case.

Always good to have a stock pile, I tend to prefer 147 for my carry. They are just below the sound barrier (slightly less rough on the ears) but have about sake performance as standard 124/115
Bookeast95@reddit
I buy a box every week, damn near.
I'm right there with ya!

how’s that Blue line shoot? The lite fast 9mm stuff always seems interesting but I rarely see it on the shelf.
marksman1023@reddit
I generally confine myself to two or three specific loads (Gold Dot 124+P, GD 124+P SB, I forget the Federal load) that I would actually use.
Everything else can stay on the shelf but if I see those I buy em. The Short Barrel load on particular, I'll buy up to $250 of that on the spot if I see it.

I keep that much ammo in my sock drawer...

I’m relatively new to firearms (from the UK) and a friend showed me his stockpile and I thought to myself that’s insane. I’m a few years in and recently found 200 rounds behind some clothes in my closet that I didn’t know I had and thought huh looks like I understand it now.

I mean I've prob got about this much hst loaded into mags alone. Its just kinda a waste of money I guess not that big a deal. I'll keep buying them and end up shooting them at trash and broken appliances.
Dad_a_Monk@reddit
Nothing wrong with that
KMGR82@reddit
I do the same thing. If I can get premium hollow points on sale, I do.
TheNefariousMrH@reddit
Is this large stockpile in the room with us right now?
Had to poke fun, man. Nothing wrong with stocking up a bit.
milkyvapes@reddit (OP)
I feel that, but really don't need them. Im not going to switch ammo ever and usually just end up shooting it after it's sat for a while. I guess it is pretty fun shooting it
TheNefariousMrH@reddit
A few of the boxes look a bit ragged. You could always grab a few extra mags, load them up and toss the lot in an ammo can. That's what I do to cycle out old carry ammo.

If you have a g-force GFTXP, this is enough for several lifetimes.
