They publicly promote the racist maps with commentary like:
"Protecting and preserving the conservative voice"
"Don't Dallas my Tarrant County"
"Let us keep Tarrant County as Tarrant County"
"We're doing this for the benefit of everyone, I don't apologize for conservative values,"
"I've been saying I'm going to do this for 4 years as part of my campaign of why people should vote for me"
They greatly fear the minority population increasing proportional to the white population. They're basically saying they're protecting the city from a certain class of people that if left unchecked will vote in people that broadly harm everyone.
donsanedrin@reddit
I saw a segment on WFAA news last night in which the Republican person being interviewed said "the district is being drawn purely for conservative neighborhood, and the democrats crying about racial profiling is what they always do and it's just them playing partisan politics."
So talking about racism is "playing partisan politics", then acknowledging that you're drawing districts based on political lines is what, exactly?
All within the same quote. Mind blowing.
OkPosition5060@reddit
Not really. The Democrats have been crying wolf for a decade at this point no one cares about race.
donsanedrin@reddit
Wrong. The moment Chief Justice John Roberts said that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 wasn't necessary anymore and the SC removed those protections, racist Republicans across the south began gerrymandering like crazy, and clearly based on racial lines.
And the whole act against equity programs in the federal government obviously reeks of racism.
I love the "nobody cares about racism" that you right-wingers use. You think that if you avoid saying certain words or phrases, that you will have successfully been able to hide what you're really doing.
Also, if you attempt to claim that all of this is because of "reverse-racism", then you just contracted you're "nobody cares about racism anymore" line.
apache_spork@reddit (OP)
Racist packing in practice. What kind of person supports and promotes racist voter disenfranchisement.
OkPosition5060@reddit
Ya boyyyy

Saw it as well, my eyes couldn't have rolled any harder. It was Tim O'Hare, who's a judge (!) for the county
Mnudge@reddit
Thanks for posting and commenting.
We all know that the bottom line in Texas is that anything less than pure white voting is “anti-American”.
BrotherMouzone3@reddit
This is why I roll my eyes at Texas or larger reddit subs that shit on Dallas but praise Ft. Worth.
It's the only major city in Texas that's clearly moving backwards. Redneck without the charm. Just straight trash.
NecessaryViolenz@reddit
That has go to be a staple of Tarrant County politics since like, forever. Fort Worth's identity seems like its mostly tied to just not being Dallas.
doppelstranger@reddit
They should ask Austin how that went. Trying to keep Dallas from coming in the front door and the whole time California was coming in the back.
apache_spork@reddit (OP)
Don't Dallas my Tarrant County is just the masked slur they use to say Dallas has too many black people involved in local politics, and they don't like that.
FizzgigsRevenge@reddit
They're so worried about it, they elected a county judge from Dallas county.
A_Homestar_Reference@reddit
Isn't that still gerrymandering though? Like if you tell me, "it's not racist, we're just trying to be biased towards one party" I'd still be pissed.
apache_spork@reddit (OP)
Racist packing in practice. What kind of person supports and promotes racist voter disenfranchisement.
casiepierce@reddit
Ah yes, it's just gerrymandering by another name. I don't understand how anyone can look at packing all the Black voters into a single district can call it political gerrymandering.
Leading_Put-@reddit
Redlining ftw ig smh
FaceIntelligent6190@reddit
So how does "no taxation without representation" figure into this?
apache_spork@reddit (OP)
Just like THC ban, book banning, porn verification, they're the theocracy party. They're setting up a nanny state because they know what's best for you https://youtu.be/hhsS-sLYeW8?t=65
Sparkydaddy1216@reddit
The very practice of having districts over just county or multi county coverage seems wrong by definition to me. Representation should follow tax dollars which should be distributed in concentric rings of municipality. City, County, State, Fed. Somebody tell me why it should be any other way. I really don’t get it.
ArtisticDreams@reddit
He fully admitted it's "to put another republican on the commissioner's court", that's admitting to Partisan Gerrymandering. The "Purpose of the maps" isn't to "Guarantee 3 Republican commissioners" it's to give equal non-partisan and non-racial representation. I know it's also racial gerrymandering, which is also terrible, but he just admitted to Partisan Gerrymandering which is much easier to prove, nail him on that!
LittleShallot@reddit
Dallas has been doing systemic racism better than basically any city for like 100 years now.
NonAssociate@reddit
Where the black republicans?
3lettergang@reddit
The defense of "i just want to make sure all elected officials are republican" is waybworse than the accusation of "why are you relocating non-white people to different voting districts".
Crazy that this is above board.
Skinny_Phoenix@reddit
The difference is that racial gerrymandering is illegal, political gerrymandering is not. I'm not defending what they're doing. I'm just saying that's why they admit to one thing but not the other. They're deflecting.
soonerfreak@reddit
And the democrats should be doing the exact same thing. Illinois already did it and any blue city/state that doesn't gerrymander is making a huge mistake.
Zealousideal_Car1811@reddit
🤬
Onanoctupus@reddit
I’m literally shaking rn
BGRunkel@reddit
Gerrymandering happens equally with both parties. Don’t act like it doesn’t. It’s pretty public info.
HatCat2012@reddit
Let them have their conservative district. Then compare in a few years which ones are performing better.
I hope we're not assuming non-conservatives will perform poorly. That would be classist or racist,.
captain-prax@reddit
Gerrymandering is racism masked as public policy.
RemarkableReturn8400@reddit
And it only happens to black people.....
KillerOkie@reddit
So is this a shill account or a sock puppet? Because this issue is literally the only thing the OP has posted about in every possible subreddit, including I might add the socialist Texas one, for like at least a week.
zakats@reddit
Sophist take.
monolith_blue@reddit
I mean, it IS worth noting. However, since this little graphic doesn't include political ideology to refute the moving of boundaries for politics, it doesn't mean much.
AisforAndy@reddit
Who cares?
zakats@reddit
People who aren't pieces of shit, I guess.
zakats@reddit
Gerrymandering just to create 'safe' voting districts should be illegal on its own, this is a clear example of Texas Republicans being spineless and cowardly.
This shouldn't be allowed in any state or by any political party.
FourMountainLions@reddit
Ah good ol redlining
Now that Medicaid has been gutted, we’ll also watch thousands die in those districts.
So glad we’re “great” again
apache_spork@reddit (OP)
Ya they're all saying, "This is why I voted for you, thank you!" https://www.facebook.com/timoharetarrantcounty
Supporting the racist maps.
Furrealyo@reddit
Medicare gutted?
I volunteer at a retirement home (several actually), and trust me…if Medicare had been gutted I would know.
Old people talk about 2 things: their next meal and medical insurance.
Gmajj@reddit
u/FourMoutainLions said Medicaid, not Medicare. I sadly don’t know much about Medicaid. But, as an old person, I must correct you on one thing. The #1 thing that old people talk about is what body parts hurt that day. Then their next meal, then Medicare.
Snobolski@reddit
And the ones in rural nursing homes talk about how the commies are trying to take away their Medicare.
Gmajj@reddit
I have no firsthand knowledge, but it wouldn’t surprise me.😂
Furrealyo@reddit
Ooops. MB.
Gmajj@reddit
😊 No worries.
CapitanShinyPants@reddit
Give it another month until they start asking where their money is.
Furrealyo@reddit
I’m positive all these people are citizens. As such, the only “new” changes that will affect them negatively is the expiration of the 2.93% temporary Physicians Fee Schedule Adjustment (1/1/25). On the flip side Medicare Part D and Advantage premiums were reduced by $7.45 and $1.23, respectively, on average.
TLDR; nothing has changed for people in the US legally.
arkansaslax@reddit
I’ve heard several trump voters recognize the dumpster fire going on but their response is “well it’s just a couple years of this and then it’s normal” and this is a great example of why it’s not.
The normalcy of democracy is gone until significant changes get made and that’s gone be significantly harder with SC sanctioned gerrymandering. Getting funding and staffing back for key government functions, trying to repair international trade relationships, etc etc is going to take so much longer than it did to destroy them.
Defiant-Specialist-1@reddit
I posted this on another sub.
Local elections are by design supposed to be no -partisan.
Judge Harris says the whole point is to keep “Republicans” on the court.
How is this not in direct violation of that?
Im not a local government policy wonk, although I used to work in government at the regional level. This was very very standards for all of the l ola elected officials I met and worked with for 20 years. Most of the time I wasn’t even aware of their political parties.
By design they are “supposed” to be nonpartisan.
pytasis@reddit
that’s crazy they would make this knowing tarring county is super diverse.
Nice_Category@reddit
Well, my district changed.
Snobolski@reddit
Are you rich? If not, it won't matter who your commissioner is, the still won't care.
Typical-Business9686@reddit
Current commissioner's court majority is all about gutting services so if "more attention" is what you're looking for I have some bad news for you...
MeTeakMaf@reddit
They won't give for more attention
They'll use the the same old tricks they used before to not do the things the voters need
It doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you are on... Both do the same bait and switch to get into office
If you aren't in the millionaire/billionaire club, you don't matter much
I vote for the opposite of the major party... The candidate that's not super left or super right
splifs@reddit
Insanity that this is allowed
ChickenDanceFTW@reddit
brother you should be able to gerrymander and lobby aka swindle and bribe because thats what freedum and democracy is all about.
radarksu@reddit
"We tried to divide the black people amongst all 4 districts so that they would have the majority in none. This is the standard approach in Texas. But there was just too many of them, so we had to pack as many as we could into one district."
Rakebleed@reddit
They should just call it the segregation district.
AccomplishedLove6169@reddit
Wait what lol
zatchstar@reddit
Welcome to gerrymandering
