The Versa/Altima's "Gray Sky Pearl" is a super neat, spacey gray with a very light indigo tinge...what are some other economy-car paint exclusives that are really cool or interesting?

The last bright blue on the Corolla hatchback comes to mind (Blue Flame, though that's also on the RAV4), and honestly so does the sandy tan from the last Focus (Tectonic).

Haven’t seen the Harlequin Golf mentioned yet and it’s got to be one of my favorites and most unique.

Mazda 2 in "Spirited Green"
bro_curls@reddit
My wife got her BMW X5 in Java Green. Cost additional $5k for that paint and she loves it and gets thumbs up all the time.
A week later we see a Mazda2 in that same color and my wife was upsettttt because I started laughing my fkn ass
AKADriver@reddit
I don't think any other US Mazda offered that color, too. I wanted one but couldn't find a manual so settled for Aquatic Blue.
The 2 also had Crystal White Pearl Mica as an extra cost color which was weird in itself, why even offer an extra cost color on a relatively unpopular cheap small car. But that was their "brand color" you could get on most of their models in the early 2010s, before Soul Red.
DeTomato_@reddit
Honda Sonic Grey Pearl also has similar effects. Depending on the lighting, the paint can appear as a flat primer grey, grey with a bluish/greenish tinge, or bluish grey.
ArcticBP@reddit
I’ve seen so many of them that pretty good, but a few that look amazing…there’s a Civic near me that almost looks like the $11k Maserati grey so I’m not sure if they did something to it (like changing the clearcoat?)
goaelephant@reddit
They have a new Urban Gray Pearl (NH912P) as opposed to the Sonic Gray Pearl (NH877P)
ArcticBP@reddit
Ah that must be it
Thanks, I didn’t know there were two colours
goaelephant@reddit
Kia Soul - Caffe Mocha Metallic (#C5M). Nice neutral pastel taupe-ish brown/beige on an otherwise lifeless car.
Sierra_463@reddit
wow that is fucking depressing looking
2009_F-250@reddit
Always thought it was super cool how Chevy offered the (then) $13k Spark in over half a dozen funky colors. Gave a dash of personality to an otherwise mundane car.
AKADriver@reddit
The Spark comes in one blue color - Mystic Blue - that the first time I saw it immediately all I could think was that this color was unquestionably straight out of Korea. It's straight up the color of Korean Air jet livery (at the time - KAL recently changed their blue) and that sort of celadon blue color is just everywhere in Korea.
taticalgoose@reddit
Easy. Soul Red Crystal on any Mazda econobox. It's the only interesting about my '14 Mazda 3 but it's a really great color when it's clean, Inb4 everyone says it's thin. I've got 140k miles on mine, it's not that bad.
04limited@reddit
Did they have soul red crystal in 2014? There’s two versions of soul red. The first version was metallic, the second version was crystal which is a deeper red.
Gizmo45@reddit
That's correct. Soul Red Metallic was introduced in 2012 while Soul Red Crystal replaced it in 2017 I believe.
taticalgoose@reddit
Corrected my post. Personally I think either looks great but you're right, it's not the exact same color.
LeanGroundQueef@reddit
The older copper red mica > soul crystal.
shloppin@reddit
That soul red on the nd miata is great. Lowered with dark or grey wheels… perfect.
Carrisonfire@reddit
I don't care how nice it looks red paint is not worth the extra insurance cost.
rommi04@reddit
Good thing that’s a myth
Carrisonfire@reddit
Not in Canada. I've had 2 red cars before and was charged extra. Now I have grey.
Loyo321@reddit
Myth. Ontarian here and insurance quoted the same when I ordered my new car in any colour.
Carrisonfire@reddit
Nb here. Must be different there. The insurance agent flat out told me that I was being charged extra for red (TD Insurance). The next red car I had gotten a quote from them but told them the car was black. When I then set up the policy and told them it was red suddenly it was $30 more per month.
noahbrooksofficial@reddit
A Mazda3 is not an econobox, respectfully. Mazda’s only econobox is the 2 and that hasn’t been sold in NA for years.
Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir@reddit (OP)
Not exclusive because the Miata has it, but obviously one of the best colors on the road rn
Curly4Jefferson@reddit
That dark metallic green on the newer Toyota Sienna always catches my eye
HeshootsHescores88@reddit
The fact that the GR cars aren’t offered in this color is a travesty
dkviper11@reddit
Is a perfect 4Runner color.
Curly4Jefferson@reddit
The Hakone edition paint is pretty close, but looking at pictures I think it's less metallic than the Sienna's
uberdosage@reddit
The new hakone edition is basically a glass paint. Very disappointing
C-C-X-V-I@reddit
That's been talked about for years. Still one of the best paint colors out there
Windows-XP-Home-NEW@reddit
Reminds me of the 90s greens that used to be everywhere.
Gilbert0686@reddit
I enjoy that color too.
It’s the color I would want on an SUV or Truck.
To me a dark green on a utility vehicle just looks the best.
shloppin@reddit
GM has that rainforest green option. Super nice.
username_needs_work@reddit
The Genesis g70-80 has something similar and I just kinda stare at it when I see it. Not a cheap ride, but a really pretty color lol
reesesbigcup@reddit
Ford Ecosport had a lot of colors, copper, yellow, several shades of blue, dark and lighter red.
Such_Tea4707@reddit
Great Falls Green on the MK7 GTI (paired with bronze wheels as a bonus)

Hondas paint color was elite in the 90s, shame that most of them faded really badly, they were beautiful.
Specifically Dark Emerald Pearl is my favorite, it is such a deep green that it can look black in certain angles
Same with Black Currant, it seems black but when light hits it it’s actually a really deep and gorgeous purple color.
There’s a bunch of other gems I’m missing too, they seem to have used a lot of their nice paint colors on the Accord and Integra of the time. Thankfully somehow one website still has all of the colors, and the years they came in that color (at least for the Accord). They’re all really nice shades: https://importarchive.com/honda/accord/1998-2002
molrobocop@reddit
I believe I read a story years back. It was a single designer was allowed to pitch a new color. If memory serves, it was Inca Pearl. Or something sorta orange. It was not popular at all. But Honda let it through.
Windows-XP-Home-NEW@reddit
That’s such a cool color lol
disposablepresence@reddit
I have kona coffee metallic on my 2013 Civic and it still looks amazing. I keep it waxed up, but I'm still surprised by how well it has held up considering I've had it outside in the Florida elements all this time.
handymanshandle@reddit
Midori Green was always a sweet paint color on the mid-90s Civics.
Windows-XP-Home-NEW@reddit
That’s a nice one too! Looks like a more vibrant version of Opal Green on the 92 Accords.
Honda sure loved their greens in the 90s lol but the end of that decade they probably had far over 10 shades of the stuff.
TheRealCVDY@reddit
Dark Mahogoney Pearl (i think?) on Subaru Outback/Ascent is absolutely stunning. like a beautiful wine red.
rafster929@reddit
I love all the colours the Nissan Figaro was offered in!
ryzenguy111@reddit
Fiat 500e Celestial Blue is beautiful. Triple layer light blue with pink/rose highlights image
mopar39426ml@reddit
Not to be confused with the former Abarth color Celeste Blue, which is my favorite color for them when paired with white mirrors/stripes.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
Obsidian blue and Aegean blue from the previous gen accord/civic respectively were pretty
probablyhrenrai@reddit
Is that the name of that gorgeous true-blue-to-purply-cobalt color that Honda has? Always turns my head; love that blue.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
yep. my fk8 type r was finished in that color. they switched it to boost blue in 21 iirc.
uberdosage@reddit
Boost blue was such a downgrade
tomtomjaaahallo@reddit
Mitsubishi Mirage in Plasma Purple Metallic or Kiwi Green Metallic were pretty festive.
post_break@reddit
Fiesta ST in Green Envy
moon_child1442@reddit
Nitro yellow green, magenta, and Lapis blue on the Neons.
PinkishOcean430@reddit
The Mirage had an awesome color pallet
Overnight_Parts@reddit
I’m thinking about getting a new Camry, and really like the new Ocean Gem color they have. It reminds me of the teal on an early 1990s Integra I used to drive.
Ambereggyolks@reddit
The new tan color on the civic is pretty nice. It's a trendy color right now but usually that color is left for trucks.
_galaga_@reddit
I like Gobi on Jeeps and I wanted to like the new tan on the Ranger Raptor but it’s a miss. More ‘80s Macintosh than a desert tan. Mazda’s Zircon Sand is a miss, too, but that Honda tan isn’t bad.
handymanshandle@reddit
I'm not usually a huge fan of tan on cars; Mazda's tan color in particular is quite ugly on the Mazda3 and the Miata. For some reason, though, it kinda works on the Honda Civic. I've seen both colors in person quite a bit and the Civic just... pulls it off better than it should.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
My neighbor has a crv in that color, think it's ugly as hell myself
04limited@reddit
Subaru Lapis Blue Pearl had a purple hue if the sun hits it right. This color is the deep blue you see on Legacy and Outbacks everywhere.
FlyinRustBucket@reddit
That green from the first gen usdm Mazda 2
thelastlugnut@reddit
There are color charts for every Japanese car sold in the US on Import Archive. For example, here’s the Altima:
https://importarchive.com/nissan/altima/2019-
…and the Miata:
https://importarchive.com/mazda/miata/2016-
You can click on the color in the chart and see every other model that also shared that color.

Big fan of those color-shifting Mustangs with the Mystichrome and Blue Ember Flame paints (though Idk if Saleen or Dark Horse are considered economy-cars lol)
Curious if GM's Galaxy Grey does the same thing too. It looks purply-grey but I haven't seen one in person yet.
Choice_Student4910@reddit
I test drove a Chevy equinox EV in that color and took a pic. Don’t know to post it in this group tho.
GeckoGuy01@reddit
Nissan Ariya has a northern lights metallic color that almost looks black, but has really cool shades of purple and almost green iridescence depending on the angle and lighting. For some reason only seems to be available on lower trims
Rocklobster376@reddit
Desert khaki on the crosstrek but I’m biased
spdcrzy@reddit
Marina Blue on the new Trax. Incredible in person.
ThatsnotaVol-VO@reddit
The teal metallic color on the new Camrys looks quite nice, as well as the bronze metallic color on the Crown Signia.
Sweet-Gushin-Gilfs@reddit
Nothing screams economy car like dodge, and that purple and green paints they have are pure fun
handymanshandle@reddit
I'm a sucker for greens, so to see the Elantra N Line get a nice green for one model year piqued my interest. Yeah, annoyingly, Exotic Green was one-and-done, but damn it's gorgeous and striking. You don't usually see sparkly greens on economy cars, and yet that existed.
Toyota's Cypress color is also drop-dead gorgeous, on the topic of greens. Nissan also has that hilarious military green color on the Altima, which looks really cool.
cat_prophecy@reddit
Ford's Sonic Blue was available on some weird model options. My dad had a Ranger Edge which was a base model with no options but 4x4 but still came in the Sonic Blue.
cosmic_thundercat@reddit
