I love this.

I was on a flight from KASH to KPYM the other day, and asked if I could get a Bravo clearance as a shortcut. First time in my life I flew through a Bravo, and ATC vectored me right over KBOS at 3500 feet. It was a blast!
BChips71@reddit
Oh YOU were the guy we had to stop our climb and get vectored around for!! ;)
gaidar@reddit
Hey, A320, slow down for that Cessna in front of you :)
BChips71@reddit
Caution prop turbulence
Barbell_Baker@reddit (OP)
What are the chances lol!
minfremi@reddit
Ask for a city tour with the appropriate tower frequency next time. Open up the helicopter chart, find the fixes and routes there!
gaidar@reddit
Many rental places now prohibit doing BOS city tours... Insurance rules are getting strickter...
minfremi@reddit
Lemme guess…. ECAC BED, ECAC ASH, ECAC OWD.
gaidar@reddit
Yeap, and I was told Mike Gullian is the same, however, I have not checked myself.
minfremi@reddit
Yeah ECAC got all strict and stuff since I last flew with them 2019.
For MG… why would you want to be doing slow flight in an SR-22/SF-50 which isn’t even great for sightseeing anyways…
gaidar@reddit
SR22 works well for me. I took multiple NYC / Hudson River tours; the pictures are stunning. And 70-80 kts is not too fast for sightseeing.
minfremi@reddit
How are the photos coming out with those windows? I’ve done one Hudson River in a SR22 but on my way back from DC, not specifically for that tour.

Here are a few: https://www.instagram.com/radiag/p/CiD40JePuX7/?img_index=1
minfremi@reddit
Those are beautiful shots! I definitely take my word back about doubting good pictures out of the 22! It does take a little effort slowing below 140kts over the Hudson though 😉
gaidar@reddit
Over the last couple of years, it has been getting busier and busier, so I now prefer to stay in Class B rather than go low.
Nothing replaces the facial impressions of people flying for the first time in a small aircraft and being so close to NYC skyscrapers, though...
minfremi@reddit
I would recommend a slower high wing or helicopter, but circling the Statue of Liberty is great too!
gaidar@reddit
I did it in 172, and it was fun. However, the useful load and cruising speed make it much less convenient to come from Boston.
I would love to get a helicopter rating one day... so sticking to fixed wing for now :)
minfremi@reddit
If you’re interested, Boston Helicopters at LWM have training rates in a R-22 cheaper than a SR22 rental!
gaidar@reddit
Thanks! Maybe a project for the next year :)
autonym@reddit
The TAC instructs all non-helicopter aircraft requesting to transit the Class B to contact Boston approach. Only helicopters are instructed to ask Boston tower to transit.
Barbell_Baker@reddit (OP)
That sounds like an awesome idea, thanks!
bhalter80@reddit
While you're on the helo tour practice your slow flight there's no reason to rush down the Charles. Depending on which direction Logan is taking off they may ask you to break it off early and turn you north towards Beverly
kyle_Larsons_mole@reddit
During ppl training I got a bravo clearance into ORD without asking
hammerite@reddit
Is that sarcasm for saying you busted? 😅 that’s actually surprising because I’ve heard Chicago is rough on VFR traffic.
kyle_Larsons_mole@reddit
Didn't bust. Was getting flight following at the far north end heading west for a xc flight with the instructor. Just before a Biden TFR. Asked what altitude I wanted. Told him 4500. "Squawk xxxx, cleared into to bravo."
Bravo floor is 3600 and just barely clipped it. Was expecting a very slight step climb to avoid the bravo. But I'll take it!
jtyson1991@reddit
I was offered a Bravo clearance on a XC student solo out to KJVL. Had to decline, no endorsement!!
kyle_Larsons_mole@reddit
Had the CFI with me so that was discussed.
Where were you flying out of?
jtyson1991@reddit
KPWK! My home airport.
kyle_Larsons_mole@reddit
C81 here.
jtyson1991@reddit
Campbell gang! Did all my PPL checkride landings there.
Syrup_And_Honey@reddit
Ayyyy I'm a student at kpym! Beautiful area to fly around. Love the city pics 😀

I may have accidentally parked at your flight school then! I called Plane Jane's to see if they had parking out front and they told me they did, I just had to look for the umbrellas. Needless to say when I found the "umbrellas" they were pvc pipes with colored foam on the outside. I explained this to the instructor that came out to greet me and we both had a good laugh about it lol, and he was nice enough to let me stay parked there while I went and got pancakes.
Syrup_And_Honey@reddit
That's hilarious!! A1 folks are great, I'm glad it was an easy trip.
I'm writing this to you from Plane Janes right now! A classic spot, hope you come by again 😁
S_Hurricane_Y@reddit
I definitely saw you! I thought it was rather peculiar that a GA plane was flying overhead. I live downtown
Guap-Zero@reddit
KTPA has a transition that takes you right over the airport and you get to see the Bucs stadium, Steinbrenner field, Top Golf, and downtown Tampa from 2500-3500 feet...
DiopticTurtle@reddit
Great photo, thanks for sharing! I love seeing Boston like this

North Central is where I flew to on my first solo xc. I went on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon and the place was buzzing!
