Neither Ukraine Nor Russia Want to Stop the War - Walking away remains the best option ahead for the current U.S. administration.

Russia would stop the war if its demands are met. For Ukraine, these demands are unreasonable even if it will eventually lose more territories and soldiers in the future fighting.
For the West, the material loss is bearable, but the loss of Ukraine is irreplaceable.

The headline point is true. But Russia sees this war as an existential threat to Russia!
As such, Russia will not "lose" this war. The war will end with some sort of "Russian victory" or Russia will go nuclear. Putin has already given a speech to Russian about ending life on earth if the Russian gov't has to do an all-out nuclear attack.
This is serious sh*t, as serious as it gets.
Putin is a "moderate" in waging this war. He has much pressure from hawks in the Russian gov't to "take the gloves off" and to be much more aggressive in prosecuting this war -- a war that was deliberately planned and provoked by the US! (We should never forget that.)

US does not have agency. They have to go bow to the rulers. Everyone knows this.
