Is it possible to make your own IDE jumper caps?

I recently got an IDE hard drive for a retro project Im working on but the drive needs to be set as a master drive which can only be set with a jumper cable, but I don't have any jumper caps and I just wanted to see if I could make my own jumper caps or if I neex to buy them, all answers are appreciated.

Is there a reason you can't just buy some? You can get 500 of them for $6.29 including 2 day shipping on Amazon.

There's zero chance this ends without something bad happening. Don't be in a rush to "FIX IT NOW" or beyond cheap. https://www.amazon.com/California-JOS-Standard-Circuit-Connection/dp/B0BRK36G33/ some of these are available for same day delivery (and I live in a backwater state).

I don't think you're going to do it 'wrong'. I think what's going to happen is you're going to make a jumper with a conductive item, protect it reasonably well (say kapton tape), then then tape it in place, and it will be fine. But you'll forget that you did that, the adhesive will dryout, fall off the hard drive, and the conductive items will bridge something and bad things will happen.
You're dealing with older equipment that they aren't making new ones of any more, order the color jumper that brings you the most joy (or get the multipack), and just chill. It will arrive in the next couple of days. I'm sure you've got other projects to fight with while you wait. :)

it's Normally set to master by default, but yes you can bodge the jumper if you wish

Thanks for the info.

go to any recycling center and take one from any pc motherboard; all motherboards have some jumpers

Thats very convenient, theres a recycling center only 10 minutes from my house so I can stop by there some time to see if they have any pc's.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Wire wrap and wire wrap tool for the win

I wanted to make them with LEDs. Not for the jumper function but to use for HDD/SDD activity. I have had plenty of HDD cables used off of cases but wanted just a simple, clean look right on the motherboard and especially a HBA/RAID card to show blinky light activity.

Anything that can short the 2 pins. Some wire and tape would work. Kind of a pain in a tight space like that.

In a pinch you can use anything conductive. I've done it with a bread twist tie with the coating pulled off.
