You guys need to watch the movie Bubba Ho-Tep. It is amazing for so many reasons.

That Elon Musk has so many children because he is creating an organ donor bank for himself, or even transfer of consciousness into a new host body. He's read the same sci-fi I've read, and he's got Neuralink and his plans for long term space travel. I think his children are his hope to live forever once the technology is ready. We know he's a terrible person, and we know he doesn't care about those children at all. This is my own theory and I'm sticking to it.
woodsie2000@reddit
He SHOULD have like 37 children, but not for this. He can afford it, they will probably all be geniuses, and it 20 years they can all mate with Nick Cannon's 30 children and produce a superior class of the most beautiful smart people alive.
thewellis@reddit
That is insane enough that there is probably some element of truth, especially around organ donation. Ketamine does bad things to the body...
IDFGMC@reddit
You have to take a hell of a lot on a daily basis before you start getting bladder problems. I mean it happens for sure but how those people function I have no idea. As mad as he is I'd be amazed if he's taking that much.
SilverHalsen@reddit
At least one of his kids is a clone of himself.
Sanguinusshiboleth@reddit
Would explain why he especially went mad that one of his choldren came out as trans; he went from having an optimal male host to a in-optimal female host (note I’m using ‘optimal’ and ‘in-optimal’ as a person on that situation would theoretically use).
ampmz@reddit
Not Elon, but the organ donor element is why so many people think Nick Cannon has had so many kids.
ed-uk@reddit
I like the theory that he is actually from the future, and trying to gradually rebuild the technology to get back to his own time.
bez_lightyear@reddit
There's a great sci-fi story to be written about an alien race that discovers an ancient spaceship from another galaxy which contains the last remaining human being & his organ bank. Upon reanimation it turns out the human being is the worst example of humanity & the aliens are all "thank fuck we didn't bother going to that planet"

I'm buying this. I know nothing at all about the man other than one of my friends is pissed off to look a bit like him (which to be fair, is knowing something about my friend, not the organ harvester), but I think you sound credible

Princess Diana was murdered by Philip and Queen Elizabeth. I picture them plotting in the library at Buckingham Palace.
I mean I can see why people think it in a way. Her car was hit by another car which sent it careering into a pole. But I think it was just a tragic accident.
I do think though that Princess Diana was pregnant when she died, but that was covered up. She said in the week before she died that she was going to make a big announcement. The papers were full of rumours that she was pregnant. And the full autopsy report has never been released. I think they held that information back as they thought it would inflame the public mood even more, which it probably would have.
KTDWD24601@reddit
She wasn’t pregnant. The big announcement was something about a charity. Actually quite dull. Some members of the press have an incredibly overactive imagination and let their speculations run away with them.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
It was not an isolated published rumour. It was across all the papers.
KTDWD24601@reddit
Yes, because they all repeat each other. That’s the nature of a rumour once it gets going.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
Not true. Show me the UK papers that published about rumours about Williams affair? They did not. The UK papers, unlike some papers abroad, do not tend to publish rumours about the Royal family unless they are pretty sure of their source.
KTDWD24601@reddit
Diana wasn’t part of the ‘Royal Family’ at the time. Any protection conferred by ‘The Firm’ had been withdrawn. She was actively being attacked by the press the day she died.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
No she was not being actively attacked by the press the day she died.
KTDWD24601@reddit
She was, in the earliest editions. I remember getting up early that day, picking the newspaper off the mat, sitting at the dining room with breakfast browsing through and seeing the opinion columns about some papparazzi pictures of her in her swimming costume on the boat with Dodi, then going in to the living room to turn on the TV to find the story of her death all over the news.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
You are right. They were talking about her with Dodi and the rumour she was pregnant.
That is not actively attacking her.
KTDWD24601@reddit
The columnists were actively attacking her for spending time with Dodi.
None of the those stories were happy or positive.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
Can you find me some of those stories? Not what I remember at all. I do remember racist comments under the stories though from readers. Nothing changes.
KTDWD24601@reddit
No - it was the earliest morning edition of a tabloid newspaper. Tabloid newspapers at the time were referred to as tomorrow’s chip paper because they were not archived or saved. They were not ‘the newspaper of record’. And it was gone by the next edition of the paper the same day, which was updated after the news broke, and of course has been memory-holed since. It’s only a quirk of geography and newspaper distribution that we got that version.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
I was up early that day as I was working. I walked by a newsagent open early at about 7am and they had a sandwich board outside saying Princess Do in car crash. I went inside and bought a paper. They were saying she was involved in a car crash and had a broken arm. So I am surprised at your claim. Unless you are not in the UK?
KTDWD24601@reddit
Of course I am in the U.K. What edition of a newspaper a newsagent gets depends on the geographic location, the distributor they are using, and the delivery method. Home delivery copies can be an earlier edition than the one you buy from a newsagent because they have to sort them to go out on a delivery round before the shop opens.
They didn’t print them all in one go, you see, they printed the first ones they needed to get out first, and could then change them before the second edition needed to go out.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
Okay your newspaper said something totally different ti the newspapers in the newsagent near me.
And I remember that they said either she had been in a car crash nut no other details, or she had been in a car crash and had a broken arm. So it sounded like a minor accident and I went to work thinking the news would be full later that day of her car crash and her posing for photos with a cast. I was rolling my eyes at it and remember saying to a colleague the news would be full of this minor car crash for ages. Total non news.
So when other people came into the workplace later and said Diana had died I was totally shocked. I actually told the first person who said this that they were wrong and she just had a broken arm. But we turned on the news and I found out she had died.
Its why I know what all the early papers were saying. The photos of Diana with Dodi on a yacht were a few days before. I think your memory is faulty.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
Also people talk about the bas press Diana was getting and quote a story that was in The National Enquirer. The paper that also published a bus was found on the moon, not a publication anyone took seriously.
Lazy_Age_9466@reddit
Although the early editions I saw was that she was in a car crash and had a broken arm. I was up very early that day.

The virus started in the Wuhan lab
No_Atmosphere8146@reddit
I'll go deeper.
China saw that their demographic imbalance would soon cause serious economic issues, with too many old people and too few young people after decades of "one child only". Covid was laboratory-designed to target the over 70s to thin the herd at the upper end, while leaving the rest of the population largely unscathed.
Deeper.
Covid was taken so seriously in the West because most of our leaders and owners, known and unknown, are 70+. It was an act of self-preservation by the ownership class. If it mostly affected under 30s, the reaction would have been nowhere near as stringent.
Ganjanium@reddit
I always felt like maybe the reason it didn’t affect children was because some scientist engineered it that way through no reason other than their own conscience. Your idea makes sense though.
waffenwolf@reddit
Its not a conspiracy theory if some of the lab staff got laid back and failed to follow protocol. The Wuhan Institute of Virology was well know for studying coronaviruses. Some staff members got the virus and then went home from work, is probably what happened.
Jolly-Minimum-6641@reddit
What I personally believe happened was the virus started out barely transmissible and nobody noticed it. Then, what we saw in December 2019 in Wuhan when China notified the WHO, was actually a mutated and more transmissible strain/variant.
Think of the Delta and Omicron ones that came later. Same principle applies.
Mr_Emile_heskey@reddit

WillingApplication10@reddit
I remember seeing videos of the scientists in the caves collecting specimens from the bats, and it looked like a really cool job tbh!
I work in software and I remember thinking about this when I was working from home at the time. Sometimes someone breaks production. An intern fucks up. It's not malicious but it has impact, sometimes on loads of people. Your bank doesn't name the dev who made the fuck up and brought the system down. It's all hands on deck to fix it and smooth it over. You have a private internal "how do we avoid this" discussion after you've unfucked it.
Some bat intern washes his hands before lunch incorrectly? PPE done wrong? You're not going to public announce the fuck up of your staff if it was an accident. Then all the mad coronavirus scientists went all hands on deck mode to try and vaccinate us out of it, and they'll have had a "how do we avoid this" discussion after in private. We aren't going to know either way, but if someone was trying to be malicious about it I think someone would have shouted.
Top_Explanation_3383@reddit
No that's racist you absolute facist. It obviously came from eating bats from the wet market.

leninzen@reddit
It's disputed by scientists and others though. Not like the CIA has any kind of agenda, no sir lol
But in all honesty I obviously do not know the answer, I just feel like that theory was cooked up as a "China bad" thing more than anything else. Could be true though, I'm just a dumbass, what do I know?
Downtown_Economy9435@reddit
If it was just USA says lab leak and China says it came from a market then I wouldn’t really trust either side, but trust the Germans a lot more than either
kirkum2020@reddit
It's still a security service saying 'probably' with zero evidence.
doctorocelot@reddit
There is evidence though. The first strain of coronavirus looked like a genetically modified version of it's parent rather than random mutation. Genetic modification causiles a long string of DNA to change while keeping the rest the same. Random mutation causes many smaller sections of the DNA to mutate. The Wuhan lab was involved in gain of function genetic modification which would result in those genetic traces.
kirkum2020@reddit
Looked like a genetically modified version to whom? Your Facebook group?
Even the two organisations claiming it was a lab leak aren't suggesting that, let alone virologists.

leninzen@reddit

StonkDreamer@reddit
The remains found were apparently questionable, but if it is true, it was more likely so that his close friends could hide his body somewhere secret where it wouldn't be desecrated or "stolen" by the Soviets in a similar way to Mussolini after his death. Having done some deep diving into the did he escape theory, pretty much all the hard evidence and eye witness testimony agrees that he died in the bunker, what happened to the body afterwards is the more interesting and credible conspiracy theory IMO.

It's not remotely plausible. He was in Germany far to late to even attempt an escape. Himler tried it was was captured almost immediately. There's no way Hitler and Eva made it out of that bunker alive but I do thing there is a question mark over where their body's are. Probably buried in the rubble of Berlin or framed in Stalins private quarters.
thecockmeister@reddit
Nah, that's known too. The Soviets took their bodies, did autopsies to prove aid in proving who they were compared to witness testimony and dental records, and along with others were buried in unmarked graves. Those graves were later dug back up by the East Germans, and then the bodies effectively destroyed to avoid the site becoming a shrine.

Multiple towns have this story about their neighbouring town.
tradandtea123@reddit
That's actually a classic conspiracy theory. It was told about Boddam in Aberdeenshire in the 1700s and was then told by a travelling comedian in the mid 1800s who sang a song about at loads of seaside towns. For a good few decades there were several towns around the UK referred to as monkey hangers but for some reason it stuck about Hartlepool but there's absolutely no evidence it's true.

There’s a book called Who Hung the Monkey?: Story of the Hartlepool Legend that goes into details of towns around the UK with similar stories, iirc there was one where a monkey was stabbed to death

Conspiracy theories used to be a bit of fun. Like moon landing fakery or who shot JFK. It’s all got a bit more sinister these those. Conspiracy theorists generally are on shaky ground mentally, or hold some pretty hardcore political views.
jonewer@reddit
No such this as fun conspiracy theories. They're all an attack on truth and reason, and inevitably end up blaming the Jews
assumes-youre-female@reddit
But isn't that what they're saying - nowadays that's the case, but a while back they were less so. Especially cos most theories weren't antisemitic, just inventive. Not saying that there weren't horrifically anti-jewish theories then either, but it wasn't the whole thing, which it seems to be now - I don't know, it all seems so toxic now that I don't go too near.
I mean, I'm an arch-rationalist, and I used to love conspiracy theories, pretty much for the entertainment value and the insight into other people's minds it gave you. What is turned into now is horrific though.

Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked them out of the air. Kennedy's hair just exploded out of excitement.
You_are_Retards@reddit
whenever ive seen the point about 'his head just did that', it was usually about how his head moved in response to the bullet
conspiracy theorists insist his head should have moved in one direction (i cant remember if its forward or backward) because 'its a law of ballistics that a head always moves that way when shot from that direction' so the fact it did the opposite is suppose dot be proof. but when arguing this point more sane people will often respond along the lines
"well it isnt a law and his head could have done almost anything - it just happened to do that"
Puzzled_Tomatillo528@reddit

He didn't actually die, but he did suffer extreme brain damage that gave him a serious speech impediment; the CIA then kept him underground in a laboratory to experiment on him with culturally subversive brainwashing techniques - the goal was to instil in him alternative views to mainstream narratives to see if they could achieve the same thing with Russian citizens to destabilise Russia. The experiments were a success and an unexpected side effect was an extended lifespan, but unfortunately his identity became confused and he couldn't remember exactly who he was. In his confusion he escaped, and was accepted back into the family who agreed for his own mental wellbeing to humour his new identity... And in February 2025 he was appointed as the US Secretary of Health.

allenysm@reddit
Neil deGrasse Tyson sums the moon landing one up perfectly, he basically says it would’ve required so much money and so many people to keep a secret that it was cheaper and easier to just go to the moon 😁
The JFK one fascinated me for years as a student, as it was an elective short course taught by an American politics lecturer at my uni at the time. The evidence is always circumstantial but it is compelling. I saw a documentary once that showed the killing shots would actually have been easier and better to have been taken from a building directly behind the motorcade rather than the school book depository, and it would’ve been possible on the day to have done it. Everything about Oswald doing it seems much more difficult for him to have done it in a purely practical sense, and so much of the evidence is incredulous, so you can see why people don’t believe Oswald did it, or acted alone, etc
jonewer@reddit
What do you mean the evidence is incredulous?
allenysm@reddit
Poor grammar on my part, but I meant so much of the evidence is far fetched but not necessarily unbelievable, equally some of the circumstantial evidence is tantalising but nothing more than that.
The supposedly doctored photos, what Oswald got up to in the Soviet Union, why he defected at all, and how he spoke Russian so well his wife thought he actually was Russian when they met. Russian is notoriously hard to learn and the astronauts on the ISS always said it was the hardest part of the training, so I can see why people think Oswald wasn’t self-taught just so he could defect, but think he was low-level military intelligence.
jonewer@reddit
The photos were not doctored. They were taken by his wife, who attested to this fact. The photos were authenticated by the House Select Committee
The rest of the evidence is absolutely unequivocal.
In summary:
Instead of visiting his wife and kids on a Friday, as usual, Oswald. went on Thursday, claiming he was picking up curtain rods. However, his apt. already had curtain rods. He did place a long package in the back of Frazier's car the next day
No curtain rods were found but a rifle was found at the scene.
Oswald typically talked about JKF, but avoided the subject the day before. The day of the murder, O. left behind his wedding ring and all the money he had. He didn't bring his lunch. He walked ahead of Frazier instead of with him into the Book Depository.
Howard Brennan witnessed Oswald holding rifle in Depository window. He was 120 feet away. (ca. 12 car-lengths). He picked Oswald out in a lineup.
Records show this rifle was shipped to Oswald's p.o box in Dallas. Handwriting matches. Prints found. Fibers match clothing O. was wearing that day
When arrested Oswald had a fake draft card in the name of "A.J. Hidell" in his wallet. The order form from Klein's Sporting Goods to purchase the mail-order rifle was signed by one "A.J. Hidell" and was positively proven to have been in Oswald's handwriting. The mail to address on the order was Oswald's Dallas post-office box.
Oswald's rifle was found on 6th floor of Depository.
Three shells found at scene were fired from rifle
No trace of any bullets/bullet fragments/bullet shells OTHER THAN THOSE COMING FROM OSWALD'S 6.5-MILLIMETER MANNLICHER-CARCANO RIFLE were discovered anywhere in Dealey Plaza, the limousine, the TSBD, Parkland Hospital, or in the victims.
A paper bag holding disassembled rifle found at scene. Oswald's prints found on bag.
Oswald's prints found on book cartons in sniper's nest at scene.
Revolver found on Oswald at arrest in theater, same evidence it was sent to his p.o. box in Dallas.
paraffin test on Oswald's hands were positive
Of all employees at the Dep., only Oswald was missing after the murder.
Oswald murders officer J.D.Tippit, almost a mile from his rooming house. Witness Helen Markham picks him from lineup. There are other witnesses--actually ten of them.
Manager of shoe store sees man acting suspiciously, follows him to movie theater, calls police. Cashier at theater says Oswald ducks into theater without paying for ticket.
Oswald fights with police in theater, then refuses to give his name when arrested.

There is another 'conspiracy theory' that says 'conspiracy theories' are deliberately seeded to the public with key details changed to make a true story sound ridiculous. This is to divert attention away from actual shady things that are happening and make a mockery of anyone who discusses it.

Striking_Smile6594@reddit
The CIA used to spread false stories via a network of newspapers that they had contacts in back in the days of the cold war. But this was mostly in foreign newspapers.
They famously spread rumours and stories that rumours that various terrorist groups in the 70s and 80s where funded by Moscow. This kind of bit them on the ass when various US politicians picked up on this and started basing policy on it being true. When the CIA told then it wasn't and they made it up, they didn't believe them.

The funny part of Flat Earth is that the Japanese would've had to have gone westward, through the Indian Ocean, through Suez or around Africa, then through the Panama Canal or around South America, in order to attack Pearl Harbour in the Pacific.
Antergaton@reddit
Depends on the which version, I think most consider it a disc, pivoting around the north pole and the south pole isn't a thing and it's just a massive ice wall/barrier... what is beyond the ice wall is questionable obviously.
My favourite thing is to go beyond any theory, as in like if they say the flat earth, one up them by talking about the giant earth theory. As in our known area is just one smaller area of a even bigger spherical massive Earth.

This is the part that makes it so funny to me, like most conspiracy theories have some tangible gain to be had by keeping the lie, but flat Earth requires all of that collective work and agreement for effectively shits and giggles.
Can't have world peace, but everyone can agree to pretend the Earth is round just to fuck with people.
Resident_Pay4310@reddit
I looked into it once. Apparently the nefarious goal is that NASA gets funding.
IAM_THE_LIZARD_QUEEN@reddit
Well it's funny cause that leads to my other favourite thing about it - none of them can agree on anything!
Other theories include that it's to normalise the concept of space/other planets so that "they" can introduce aliens one day and people won't be so freaked out, or just that there's a giant army base at the edges and they need to hide it.
Of course these make about as much sense as "just because", and some are happy enough with just "it's about control", but yeah, they literally can't agree on anything. The why, the how, what the "flat earth" actually looks like, whether other planets exist (and are round!), there's so few of them and yet they can't even forge one consistent theory. It's amazing.
lonehorizons@reddit
The stupidest thing about it is that there literally cannot be a conspiracy about it because anyone can disprove it in several ways simply by using their own eyes.
The people that genuinely believe it have an emotional need to believe it though, which overrides any evidence you can show them.
Secret-Specialist-50@reddit
They don’t, they just say they do to sound a bit edgy and get some attention!

txteva@reddit

txteva@reddit
Not a all! There's a very small percentage of people who were affected - I'm sure similar numbers can apply to many other medications or vaccine's.
It is very unfortunate when it happens but it isn't a reason to give for why people shouldn't have it. The list of people who were affected by getting COVID with long term side effects is much, much longer and likely would have been worse without the vaccine.
The "Vaccine Damage Payment" isn't setup just for COVID vaccines - it's for any one of 19 different Vaccine's.
gobrun@reddit
No, that remains a fringe view that appears to have been normalised, only because it became so politicised. The advice has been the same since day one, listen to medical professionals.

It's easy to find - "If you’re severely disabled as a result of a vaccination against certain diseases, you could get a one-off tax-free payment of £120,000."
Less than 200 people have actually received it (could have been for any vaccine issue), compared to millions of people who took the COVID vaccine.

webseyuk@reddit
I just wish the government was so militant on fixing the shit they broke during the unnecessary lockdowns
Because if they were so necessary why did we have party gate
postvolta@reddit
The same reason that people know it's probably a bad idea to smoke but because the effects aren't immediate you just live in denial
The lockdowns weren't unnecessary, they were required because hospitals were getting completely overrun with COVID related shit, meaning all the other stuff had to take a back seat: cancer, major injuries, surgery, ongoing treatment etc
They basically needed the toddler to be strapped in the highchair so that it didn't hurt itself because they were busy tending to the baby with a serious respiratory illness.
And the populace was like "but I'm not gonna hurt myself so why do I have to sit in the highchair?"
And in the majority of cases that was true, but in some cases the toddler toddled over to the baby and licked their face and also got ill, or they tripped on a block and cracked their head open, or they ate a load of pink paracetamol thinking they were smarties, or they had overexposure to short chain PFOAs meaning they developed cancer and needed treatment or whatever the fuck and now you've got a baby with a life threatening respiratory illness and a seriously injured or maybe dying toddler and you don't have enough hands to help both and you're having a nervous breakdown and maybe you're gonna crash out of the profession of parenthood altogether (holy run on sentence Batman).
And so we had party gate because the people who make the rules are somewhat akin to toddlers.

What else is going to happen in the next couple of years?
webseyuk@reddit
Well we will have another 4 years of austerity, followed by a reform government because no one will listen or take action on anything the public find important and will continue the spiral
We will be back in Europe with a more equal footing to the smaller countries but this will be retracted once reform get in
Our children will continue to suffer because feelings win every time, although only for the violent and misbehaving ones
Parents will continue to fail their children by being soft and not teaching them not to be dicks
Just a few, although COVID was a pretty clear escalation of government overreaction and could be seen a mile off. The next few years are less certain

In our defence (because I was the same as you), we had quite a few epidemic and pandemic 'scares' in the years leading up to covid, started with Bird Flu in the mid 2000's, Swine Flu in the early 2010's and then Ebola and a few others in the years leading up to it. All fizzled out with little impact in this country so I think most of us felt the same was going to happen again.
terryjuicelawson@reddit
Fizzled out, after quite a lot of work most people didn't appreciate happened though I guess. We had Covid distancing, lockdowns, rushed vaccines, then people say "what was the fuss about!" five years on. Whether it would have happened if we just carried on as normal is unclear.

The 52 hertz whale / the loney Whale / 52 Blue
There has been multiple underwater audio recordings (at 52 hertz) from all over the northern hemisphere, of what sounds to be Whale song. (This is fact)
Only problem is, for a Whale to make a call at 52 hertz it would have to be significantly larger than the biggest adult blue whales - almost 50% larger in fact.
The conspiracy theory is that a lone (possibly last of its kind) Whale has been swimming around the seas for a few decades searching for a mate.
It's call was first detected in 1989. As of 2014 it's been detected every year. It's still out there, we still think it's entirely possible it is an unknown Whale species.
Though it's most likely some kind of tectonic movement causing the sound.
The great shark killer.
In the late 80s, early 90s there was a project in Australia to tag and track Great White Sharks. One such shark, an adult female, was successfully tagged.
A week later her dorsal fin (with tag attatched) washed up on a beach. Researchers went out to find it, assuming she had beached herself, and were shocked to find her dorsal fin and section of her back had been ripped off. Large teeth marks (bigger than anything we know of in the ocean) were visably the cause of the severation.
Scientists then looked into the tracking data they got from her tag and found a truly shocking and scary discovery.
The shark had left her nursing pool to feed, leaving her pups in the shallows while she went out to deeper waters to hunt. There was an intercontinental shelf (underwater cliff) not far from the nursing grounds she was raising her babies in.
The tracker shows she fairly slowly swam out to the shelf, hung around for a few minutes looking for prey, then very suddenly and quickly - dived down, deep. Much deeper than a great white is capable of diving and stayed there for a few hours. It's not possible she could have done this herself.
When she came back up she followed currents that took her into land, and that's where her fin was found.
So basically, something came up from the deep and took her, whole! Only to later spit out the dorsal fin and tracker.
Over the years since this happened there has been several other sharks fins found around the same stretch of beach in similar conditions.
Isreal Shark Spy's
In a controversial theory that made international headlines, bloody shark attacks in Egypt were blamed on the Israeli spy agency. The 2010 Sharm El Sheikh shark attacks, which led to the injury of Russian and Ukrainian tourists and the death of a German woman, were unprecedented. But after the attack, the narrative shifted, with some theorists blaming the shark attacks on the Mossad agency.
Conspiracy theorists claimed that Mossad used GPS tracking devices to guide sharks into Egyptian waters. With the historical tension between Egypt and Israel, the conspiracy theory had enough fodder to fuel it.

There were civilisations 10,000 years ago that were decently sophisticated but there is almost no record of them now.
I haven’t gone off the deep end and started believing there where global network civilisations back then like Graham Hancock tells it though.
MattHatter1337@reddit
space_guy95@reddit
What kind of "sophisticated" do you mean? As in early bronze age level, or like Atlantis or modern level civilization?
I think the history of civilisation does go back further than we currently know. After all, every few years we discover a new "oldest city" or oldest example of complex society, so it follows that we probably haven't discovered the oldest ones yet.
And it is interesting to imagine what could now be buried under volcanic ash or in the oceans that have since risen, or even whether there may have been societies for which all evidence was wiped away by the ice sheets in the last ice age.
But I also can't buy into the Graham Hancock type ideas of super advanced ancient civilizations, that just happened to have built everything great that we attribute to later people. I think most of it comes from a fundamental misunderstanding and huge underestimation of the intelligence and determination of ancient people. Like the idea the Egyptians couldn't have built the pyramids - of course they could, they were brilliant mathematicians and stonemasons, and we even know where they quarried them and have examples of the tools they used.
diyguitarist@reddit
The problem with we know what tools they used, copper chisels and sand. But have drill bore holes in granite that drill as fast as our drills now, and engineers who look at that and scratch their heads because it's bonkers. And I don't think there's a problem with them cutting and moving 80 tonne stones, hard but whatever, enough monkeys on enough typewriter situation. It's other Egyptian stones and granite statues that were 800-1000 tonnes, over hundreds of miles of rough gtound. you can't just say "oh log rollers", because that simply wouldn't work. Somebody back then knew how to do it, with some sort of machinery and maths that we don't know they had.
The largest stone moved in modern times was 1250 tonne, was only moved 6 kilometres and required special boats and railroads to be built and took forever to do.
rocket9904@reddit
It doesn’t really have engineers scratching their heads, we’ve recreated Egyptian drilling methods and found it accurate to the archeological evidence. We know that the Egyptians could move 1000lbs stones across land by sledges and lubricated sand, as well as across water for the lighter obelisks. I don’t see how this is impossible considering we have modern writings of moving heavier stones with fairly similar technology, and we have absolutely no idea of the workforce or time that it took the Egyptians to move these stones.
Chad-Buttsniff@reddit
I was having a discussion with a contractor about the pyramids. He believed they were made by aliens or something. Not entirely sure as I switched off half way through his rant. Couldn't be built by humans due to the size of the stones, the height of the pyramids etc.
I put it to him that its actually quite astonishing what ancient humans could do with a few ramps, but most importantly, 40,000 slaves working around the clock.
diyguitarist@reddit
No slaves involved in the pyramids unfortunately. It required craftsnen and some experts have figured out it would take so much longer with uneducated grunts. 2.3 million stones in 20 years, one stone every 2 minutes so very carefully planned and executed.
Also a ramp to the top of the pyramid at 10° that you could drag a stone block up would of been over a mile long and used more material than the pyramid itself.
Not aliens though, that I agree on.
Chad-Buttsniff@reddit
Well by gum, every day is a learning day.
That is one of my misconceptions quashed then, genuinely thought it was slaves.
But yeah, definitely not aliens.
diyguitarist@reddit
It was just too complicated for slaves, which I guess was good for them not to be doing that work, but god knows what else they'd have them doing at the time seeing as there probably were slaves in Egypt.
It's the Pharaoh/moses story that always makes people think that there were slaves building pyramids then, but the pyramids had probably already been there for a thousand years at that point (Rameses 2nd died 1213 BC, pyramids were finished 2580-2560 bc). If that story is even true, that's the problem with the bloody bible.
Sanguinusshiboleth@reddit
Not slaves; pyramid building was part of a farmer’s tax for the year - give up 1/5 of your grain and spend the months you can’t farm doing building projects for the pharoh.
PangolinOk6793@reddit
Maybe something as sophisticated as a Roman age period was possible.

Americans eating horse paste to treat/prevent COVID. There's a long standing history of Americans buying veterinary medication because in a lot of cases it's the same drug but at a 10th of the price.
When COVID kicked off there were a series of pilot studies to see if anti-parasitics (e.g. Ivermectin) or anti-fungals had any benefit. Early small studies showed some promise but were disproven in later larger/more powerful studies
Desperate conspiracy theorists and grifters clung to the pilot study and started praising Ivermectin as the ultimate cure that wasn't endorsed by the corrupt government.
Grifters started selling Ivermectin, but a lot of people just started buying Ivermectin horse paste and eating it to the point of overdose symptoms like blurred vision, which was recontextualised as a sign that it was working as intended.
A combination of bad public health messaging, a failed healthcare system, grifters, and ultimately a government that's pulled off so many real conspiracies that they'll never be trustworthy.

Mudflood and the Great Reset, and/or Lost Time Hypothesis.
Sanguinusshiboleth@reddit
I know there is a guy in Australia who was suggested as the actual King of England but it has nothing to do with Queen Victoria but that in the medieval period a king was actually illegitimate and his younger brother was supposed to be king but that’s a load of unprovable guess work at this point - Tony Robinson did the show about it.
Also I’ve never heard of Victoria having secret marriages, which is unlikely as she was 21 when she was married and became queen at 18 - it’s so incredibly unlikely as to almost sound like a joke. However I have similar tales about her uncles and granduncles so it might be based on those (which are also unlikely).

Baphometic Inversion is a fun one.
All the celebrities are transgender, and were transitioned as children/babies by their parents to appease baphomet and buy fame. Other than the transgender ones, they're actually going back to their birth sex for double fame. Pregnancies are fake, they steal babies.
This applies to literally all famous people. Kings and queens, presidents, popes, famous scientists, actors, musicians, hollywood especially, but also everyone else.
They figure this out by using skeletal differences archaeologists consider unreliable to nonexistent not checking against real skeletons but with middle school science textbook skeletal illustrations overlaid over low res photos of fully fleshed living people at completely different angles to the illustrations.

There are a great number of steam locomotives in regular maintenance in the hands of specialists that don't have to be kept secret and require fairly minimal government funds.
If the government ever needs steam trains it'll just requisition heritage railway property and draft the people working there.

You guys ever wonder why they stopped using lead paint in houses?
I mean, we're all told of the harmful effects that lead has on the body, and that much is true. But unlike leaded petrol – which combusts to form breathable particulates – or leaded pipes/drinking vessels which can dissolve in solution to contaminate the water; there’s no obvious pathway to lead exposure via paint on walls.
I mean, you could go round licking the paint flecks off walls and suffer some form of toxicity that way; but if you’re doing that then you kinda deserve what's coming to you.
No, I've always reckoned that leaded paint in a domestic environment is perfectly safe so long as it's treated with respect, on par with white asbestos in plasterwork. So what’s the big deal about it then?
It’s because - get ready for this bombshell - lead blocks EM radiation.
Think about then you go for an x-ray – staff and patients will wear leaded aprons etc in order to minimise their exposure to ionising radiation. Likewise cold-war nuclear shelters were lined with lead. I know this because I saw that one episode of Only Fools and Horses.
Why is this a conspiracy? Well... I’m just saying... that if I was the Gubbermint and I wanted to track my serfs or even activate the 5G microchips in their brains thereby forcing them to comply with my 66 executive directives; then I wouldn’t want leaded paint in their homes blocking the transmitter signals.
Also!
Not a conspiracy theory but I wanted to throw this one in as well. Just for fun :-)
The Nintendo Company was founded in 1889. They originally made playing cards and board games.
Meanwhile, Coca-Cola was founded in 1892. They made delicious and refreshing medicinal drinks with – surprise surprise – cocaine in them.
And over on our shores, Bram Stoker’s epistolary novel Dracula was published in 1897; and the story is set in the same late-Victorian time period.
Ergo… you could have a wacky Dracula adaptation; one where Dracula drinks Coke and plays Nintendo – and it would actually be historically accurate.
Moreover, since he hates sunlight; we can picture the scene thus: Dracula dwelling in a (castle) basement, harbouring ill intentions towards the human race, sipping jacked up beverages and playing Nintendo games.
In other words, our man Drac is the OG gamer/redditor stereotype.
