I know it's hard to see, but brownie points to anyone who recognizes my mouse pad.

King's Quest?

I’d forgotten about that screensaver ! After dark also made a Star Trek TOS screen saver that I had back in the day. It was awesome.

How much RAM?

Zeos ads were in every computer magazine back in the day it seemed but I never knew anyone that had one or saw them in the wild.

That's the 80s right there.

Thanks!

The lighting in this is something out of a dream ✨️

Ah thanks! I'm trying my best to capture my childhood memories. Though I didn't have any cool lights as a kid, I always wanted neons. The lighting definitely helps bring me back. ❤️

It does have a childhood coziness to it. Definitely some warm nostalgic vibes going on 😌

That is a beautiful setup all around.

Aw thanks! I just need to get a bigger desk at some point. It's just a wee bit cramped for my liking. 😂

Well. I gave my old 486-DX2/66 (with Am 5x86 upgrade and PCI bus) to my cousin when she started university. I already had a Pentium by that time. I asked her parents to just give it back to me once they get a newer one. But I guess they just recycled it. So, this is really nice to see :-)
kaolinitedreams@reddit (OP)
It's a shame they recycled it. It sort of was the mindset back then. Whenever people upgraded machines, they just got rid of their old ones.
Thank you for the comment! I'm glad to share the nostaglia with others. 🙏

Something instantly calming about after dark screen savers, especially this one

I still regret telling my parents to recycle the Zeos tower I had with a 486 DX2-66, but I was moving out of the country and they didn't want to keep it around anymore. I am so happy you are keeping one alive, though!
kaolinitedreams@reddit (OP)
Oh man, that's rough. I can totally understand your decision though. Everything was different back then; no one really considered keeping older computers. Who knew that years later that it has become a hobby.

At the time (2011), my thought was "Well, I kept the PII-300 with a Voodoo 2 since that era can't be emulated well, and DOSBox is fine for everything else right?" 🙃

Miami vice theme started playing
kaolinitedreams@reddit (OP)
Haha yes!

Where did you find that light its awesome
kaolinitedreams@reddit (OP)
Of all the places...Amazon. 😂
H3rbert_K0rnfeld@reddit
That is a brand name I have not heard in over 30 years.

Growing up, that's the only brand of computers we had in the house. We had a total of three of them, one being the tower version (not popular at the time.) When it was time for me to get my own PC in college, I realized that they no longer existed. It's a shame.
