How lucrative are ice cream vans?

Your dad was fairly reasonable. Mine wasn't. In the 90s my dad went up to another mans ice cream van to yell at him for being in his area the past few days. Whilst yelling he angrily pulled the man's side sliding window open and broke it. Poor bloke was sitting in the driver's seat scared out of his mind holding a screwdriver for protection (the tool, not the treat). Somebody called the police and they arrived very quickly. Dad had to go to the station to talk with them. He appealed to them as a fellow man with a jurisdiction over an area, much like how a police officer might be responsible for a certain area whilst performing their job. Yes that's right my dad compared himself and the area he worked his ice cream van to the police and the areas they worked upholding the law. To their faces. At the station. In his mind they were as brothers. In reality they told him he's been warned and to pack it in or he'd be charged if they had to see him again.
