Does your baba also have a similar pot like this one with a burnt bottom in her oven?

Top-Occasion-2539@reddit
I can see a similar pot at my kitchen right now
eastern_petal@reddit
It belongs to the inventory in older households .
eastern_petal@reddit
Found it in the kitchen when I moved to my new place. Most households have one ( less the younger generation, I guess)..
ThereIsBetter@reddit
Even i have it
Powerful_Wait287@reddit
What do you mean? All our pots are like this one.
bassvel@reddit
та автор жеж чітко вказав критерій: "чи ваша баба має такий?"))
Mesenterium@reddit
Believe it or not, those are still sold brand new.
dea_alb@reddit
Believe it or not, they are sold in Germany too :), there is even a famous German brand producing them
Mesenterium@reddit
I can imagine, "Ostalgie" is surprisingly a big thing.
niikobelic@reddit
Inquiring minds need to know
No_Bother3564@reddit
Following!
PrettyChillHotPepper@reddit
Who makes them? Who had achieved such a feat that an entire subcontinent is hooked onto them? What's the brand called?
WillAndHonesty@reddit
Just instead of made in Yugoslavia/Bulgaria says Turkey/Turkiye
Best_Ad_5550@reddit
They grows plant inside it.
kodial79@reddit
My grandmother literally had a pot exactly like that in Crete, Greece.
Masyaf02@reddit
Or the red one with white dots
vllaznia35@reddit
Yes she had one before she died. Even the food tasted communist from this.
oneoldgrumpywalrus@reddit (OP)
May she rest in peace.
Mine passed away 2 years ago.
Miss her everyday.
vllaznia35@reddit
9 years ago last month. I don't think about her everyday anymore tbh, but once every 3-4 days for sure.
magicman9410@reddit
Mine died 23 years ago.
I still carry her picture with me and the whole village where she lived still remembers her. She’s actually a bit of a legend there. People will swear to her name etc..
What the actual fuck guys?!
23 years…I have to go spend time in my head again. I’m getting too old.
oneoldgrumpywalrus@reddit (OP)
I hope it doesnt hurt as much after this time has passed. To me it feels like it was yesterday.
vllaznia35@reddit
I wouldn't say it hurts anymore but I remember everything as it was yesterday yes. From her death, the extended family went to shit.
oneoldgrumpywalrus@reddit (OP)
Same here. Mum rarely talks with her siblings after grandma's funeral.
Character-Arugula898@reddit
Yes, but it was not in the oven, it was on the ‚Smederevac‘😅
marto3000@reddit
Guess she had one without any fancy drawings. Now its mine
Mamlazic@reddit
I have them, Those will outlast the universe itself.
Few years ago Metalac from Gornji Milanovac started selling cookware like that again but they rotate designs yearly.
Sea_Top9815@reddit
Yes in my village! we have the Red one of course with flowers and inside also the color is blue! my mother use it as flower pot now outside in the garden. LoL
Senrogas@reddit
I have the red one with a rounder bottom and that thing has seen culinary warcrimes(by me i burnt the cous cous)
CuukingDrek@reddit
How can you burn cous cous if it's not meant to be cooked? 🙂
Senrogas@reddit
This type, not the 5kg obviously but its the only photo i fou d
CuukingDrek@reddit
Yea, but cous cous is not meant to be cooked. You just soak it in warm water or sauce for few minutes.
Senrogas@reddit
No way that actually works, gonna give it a try tomorrow🫡
CuukingDrek@reddit
For reference: https://youtube.com/shorts/j43iVgBJh1w
Senrogas@reddit
Oooh, those are the finer and i think original ones, the ones in my picture are a little bit larger, around 2 mm when fully cooked. Usually my mother fries em a bit in oil then cooks them for 10-15 minutes and they turn out nice. I just fuck up the water ratio and/or forget them on the stove. Skill issue on my part tbh
CuukingDrek@reddit
Could be diferent. But is worth trying.
CuukingDrek@reddit
They are still made by Metalac.
BlueShibe@reddit
Yes we do, the white colour version
GlitteringLocality@reddit
Absolutely my Babi still has those!
Parking-Hornet-1410@reddit

Parking-Hornet-1410@reddit
Thanks for the kind words🙏. So much has been lost already.
Qoubah79@reddit
Yes, but my babcia was Polish.
YngwieMainstream@reddit
No. 1. She's dead. 2. When she was alive we bought her new ones.
SamoSaki@reddit
my mother in law has approximately 35 of these, and she would fight till her death to save them from throwing pots to garbage. I do not understand that hype, I buy entire set when I am done with previous.
aaaannnooonymous@reddit
lolol even my parents had one
BarskiPatzow@reddit
Hah, exactly the same.
TakeMeToJacob@reddit
I still use the ones made in Yugoslavia, by Emo.
GSA_Gladiator@reddit
Got the same one, but instead of yellow, it's white
randompersononplanet@reddit

oneoldgrumpywalrus@reddit (OP)

It is so iconic they even added it in Resident Evil Village.

Seeing these yellow pots with flower/vegetables designs brings me back to hot summer days at grandma's house playing with a stick that looked like a gun and going back to the house to some delicious food made in that pot. She made all kinds of delicious food in it, my favourite was fried sausage!
