Is r7 5800x good enough for 9070xt or should I just go 9070

Basically what is the best gpu for my cpu without wasting money. I play 1440p cyberpunk level games and my 3060 is not cutting it.
GoggleJ@reddit
Yes.
I recently installed a 5700x3d after some serious bottlenecking with a 5600g and 9070xt.
It works well, getting 80-90 FPS in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered on high/ultra 1440p with no ray tracing.
You’ll get along just fine with an AM4 gen cpu. My GPU is running at 100% utilisation in certain games with this CPU. You may want an AM5 x NVidia card if you want to ray trace 1440p above 120fps

The G series aren't really that great as a gaming cpu. The limited Cache is one thing but the really lower power target is another problem. His 5800X should do more than fine
Salty-Mastodon-6513@reddit
Power target is not an issue it's only relevant for Cinebench. In gaming they all use like 50-60W.
It will be better but likely very small improvement with only 16MB more cache. 5800X is closer to 5600G than 5700X3D in performance
Leading-Network-9563@reddit
The 5800x is closer to the 5700x3d than to a 5600G Did you actually use any ryzen 5000 CPUs? I had and have a 5700G/5900X and a 5800x3d
KillEvilThings@reddit
That's genuinely incredible how dogshit the UE5 engine is that it only hits 80 FPS with at set up lol.
GoggleJ@reddit
I would note I'm running a 3440x1440 Samsung G8 monitor, 21:9
Salty-Mastodon-6513@reddit
It has 16MB L3 and on a DDR4 platform it's seriously bandwidth limited
KillEvilThings@reddit
That's not even right, the 5700x3d is an X3D CPU. DDR4 isn't a magical anti-FPS bullet either.
Salty-Mastodon-6513@reddit
I'm talking about the 5600G FFS
265K with crazy fast 8000MHz RAM can get close to X3D, so one can compensate for the other.
KillEvilThings@reddit
You clearly can't read because OP says
Salty-Mastodon-6513@reddit
Why are you so angry kid?
I'm saying X3D is a good upgrade because 5600G has neither cache or DDR5
Brief_Log845@reddit
UE5 Is a good engine. Devs need to allocate more resources to optimizing their games.
Salty-Mastodon-6513@reddit
5600G is a poor gaming CPU because it has only 16MB L3 and on a DDR4 platform so it's seriously bandwidth limited. For modern gaming you either need fast RAM or large Cache
GoggleJ@reddit
Thanks Salty, yes I experienced how poor it was first hand! Can confirm the 5700X3D was a worthy upgrade
Chickat28@reddit
The only reason to get a better cpu is if you play a lot of cpu intensive games like Mmorpgs or sim games. Otherwise the GPU is always more important.
EKcore@reddit
A 5600x has a 1% bottle neck with a 3090.
Vanadiack@reddit
Yes, but go with the 9070XT.
Bold2003@reddit
Get the XT, you don’t necessarily need to swap to am5 unless you want to future proof your setup but if you are able to try and get an x3D cpu atleast. You might have a slight bottleneck that the cache can fix.
definitlyitsbutter@reddit
Dont worry about the bottlneck. If you can afford the xt, get the xt. Worst case you have headroom for a cpu Upgrade...
SterlingArcher824@reddit
Xt
LordMuzhy@reddit
Get a 5070Ti if you want to play cyberpunk 2077 quality games comfortably at 1440p for a while
farmeunit@reddit
I play at 3440x1440p with RT High on my 9070XT... Haven't felt the need to install the 5070Ti I got.
Salty-Mastodon-6513@reddit
9070XT then sell 5800X and trade up to 5700X3D for $50
Brief_Log845@reddit
People worry about cpu bottleneck too much. For your cpu you might lose 1% performance, but will still overall be faster because the XT is more than 1% faster than the non XT.
In addition, the XT will hold its value better than the 9070.
ImBored_104@reddit
Your CPU can handle the xt
No_Package_6433@reddit
just get the xt man
