Should I get a ps5 or upgrade my PC

I currently have a ps4 and a Decent Pc , Specs: Intel i5 13400f 16GB RAM RTX 4060
Most of my friends use a ps5 but they don’t play often and buying games on Pc is really expensive when compared to ps when they have offers on games such as TLOU
What should i do 😭🙏
Ok_University_5352@reddit
Kind of depends on how you use it too. I mostly play single-player, and have a PS5 Pro. Games look great, run at a stable 60fps (and some games support 120fps on the pro), and I don't have to worry about optimization for specific games or driver updates breaking everything. Just simpler and quicker to boot up and play.
I did just build a pc, but it's a workstation build with a 7900x CPU and an Arc B580 GPU (which is comparable to the 4060, though it varies from game to game). Games run well on it, and CPU intensive games should be a cakewalk, but I'm not going to get a brand new single-player game on it over the PS5 because I value the quality and immersion aspect more for story games. Also, with the PS5, you don't have to wait 1-2 years for their exclusives, which is a big reason I stay with PlayStation.
If you mostly play competitive shooters or online games and value that high frame rate more, I would say don't bother with the PS5. But that's just how I view its worth to me, which i why I got the ps5 at launch, and then upgraded to the pro at launch, cause it was worth it to me.

I do wanna get into story games and ps5 exclusives such as bloodborne and TLOU
Own-Combination-723@reddit
Bloodborne is also on PS4 and TLOU is on PS3... If you have a good PC you can also emulate PS3 and PS4 games for free
GodKingCake@reddit
Well, if you only want to play playstation games, get a ps5.
If you want to play more than ps games, upgrade your pc.
Id upgrade my pc, TLOU part 1 is currently $30 on steam and epic, part 2 is $40.
Imo your pc isnt "bad" ram is definitely low at 16gb, but i don't know what you play at, 1080p, 1440p? How many gb of vram does the 4060 have?
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
ah so all i should be upgrading atm is my ram, tbh i do wanna swap my case as i did get a prebuilt ( should have built it myself ik but parents didn’t trust me) and i also do wanna get a decent set of speakers and a new monitor cus my current one is only 100hz
GodKingCake@reddit
I case swapped my HP omen into a Corsair 400D due to the extreme poor air flow of the HP case, 1000% worth it, the case was on sale and I snagged a couple 120 fans on Amazon and its been way better.
You could always see what the best cpu is that your motherboard supports? Or you could just start a new build.
Get a motherboard, CPU and Ram combo if you have a Microcenter near you, i believe they had the Amd 5 Ryzen 7 7700x + 32Gb of Ddr5 and A b550 motherboard for like $400-ish. Then just throw the powesupply and Gpu in that new build, till you have the money for a new psu, the swap them out.
You could then snag a cheap Intel Arc GPU or upgrade your 4060 to something that has 16gb of Vram and then sell or donate your old pc.

Since your pc is already decent, I'd say put the money towards it and make it even better. You can do a whole lot more on a PC than you can with a console. (Like pirating almost any game, software, or media you can think of for example) will save you decent money if you're into that. Plus your fps won't be capped either.
saberspecter@reddit
It's a toss up. PS5 to play with friends is cool but you need to tally the extra costs. First the console, you'll need PS+ to play online plus the games you'll want to play. GTA VI won't be out until next year and by then they'll probably be pushing PS5 Pro minimum for a good experience.
Your PC currently is fine if it plays the games you like. There's no real rush to upgrade.
Historical_Oil_2719@reddit
I think the PS5 is currently on sale right now and for what you are saying you want to play it's probably the best option
HisAnger@reddit
Games on pc are cheaper, also get much cheaper over time. You also have much more variety of titles.
Consoles also lack in modding. Good games get a lot of mods, mods that often turn them into more amazing games.
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
yea i mean for games like fornite and call of duty i play currently on pc but gta 5 online is something that isn’t cross platform so i cant really play with my friends
s00mika@reddit
If your friends start playing GTA 6 on PS5 you won't be able to because it will take longer until it is also released on PC
UNIVERSAL_VLAD@reddit
Because it was released in 2013. And this is the only game. I would recommend just upgrading so you're ready for gta vi that should come with cross play. There isn't a new game without cross playing
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
yea that’s true but there is also other games like fifa and more sports games that’s i cant play on PC and that is also crossplay
UNIVERSAL_VLAD@reddit
Uhm you can. Ever heard of ea app?
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
oh damn i never knew that 😭
UNIVERSAL_VLAD@reddit
Btw. There's also xbox game pass through xbox app that give you access to all ea sports games
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
oh thank you so much
Ahoonternusthoont@reddit
Your PC doesn't need any upgrade if you are playing games on your PC just fine. If you want to upgrade then wait till next gen console release then get something equivalent to next gen console Graphics card till then RTX 4060 should hold fine.
ggdotxyz@reddit
I’d suggest saving the money for now.
Console games are usually more expensive, and with many cross-platform titles, you can still play with your friends. For example, my friend bought Split Fiction on PS5, and we were able to play together even though I didn’t own the game on PC.
Your current PC is still solid. I’ve seen gamers comfortably using a 1050 Ti. My main rig runs a 3070 Ti, and I recently built a 4.3L SFF (small form factor) PC with a 5060. However, I experienced the black screen issue with the 50-series cards, so I wouldn’t recommend a GPU upgrade right now.
If you’re looking to upgrade something, consider adding more RAM (up to 32 GB) or extra storage. For the CPU, your current one is good for casual gaming. But if you do CPU-intensive tasks, the i5-14600K is a solid upgrade.
On that note, I’d recommend making sure any future CPU you buy includes an integrated graphics. It’s a good fallback if your GPU runs into problems like black screens or driver issues.
PreviousAssistant367@reddit
I download all my games for free. That's the reason why I bought a PC in the first place.
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
could you help me with getting these games for free ?

Don’t see why you would need to upgrade a PC with those specs it will play anything just fine. I use way older hardware than that, it struggles from time to time but gets there, no way I’d get rid of that setup. If you want a PS5 I’d say go for it but if you’re upgrading that PC just for games then it’s a waste of cash
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
oh alr i’m just new to PC and stuff not sure about what i should have done so i popped a question here , i can get the ps5 pretty cheap rn so when gta 6 releases i can play instantly
ShacObama@reddit
Damn shame they're making us buy PS5s if we want to play the game we've been waiting on for a decade.
Koopk1@reddit
100% upgrade PC. Consoles are already years behind
Affectionate_Help477@reddit
Well in my country getting ps5 would be cheaper option than getting pc with same spec tho
firey_magican_283@reddit
That's true in a lot of regions although ops PC is basically better than a ps5 as is, some argument can be made about the GPU.
Affectionate_Help477@reddit
Yep that also the reason i plan build my own pc
SpiritWolf614@reddit
How is your pc handling games right now? If your pc is playing all of the game you want right now then I don't see a point in upgrading. Also if you want to play Playstation exclusives or play games with friend that aren't crossplay I would recommend getting a ps5.
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
i think it handles pretty well tbh i’m getting around 240 stable fps in fornite and about 120 give or take 15fps in COD: Warzone
SpiritWolf614@reddit
I personally only upgrade my pc when it starts to run the games I want poorly.
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
ah okay i should just save my money then
firey_magican_283@reddit
Your graphics card is a sidegrade from a ps5 better in some ways worse in others aside from that your pc is better.
If you want to play games with your friends that aren't cross platform no amount of pc upgrading will get you there and you will have to go ps5 or get them to go PC.
Upgrading to a 7700 xt would put you ahead of the ps5 technically in every regard
Affectionate_Help477@reddit
Isn't your pc still be able to play on most game? Well if you could upgrade to 4090 would be fire haha. I heard some of game won't be able to play on 2k or 4k in ps5 even tho it should be able to. I dunno it is true or not
dirtyharo@reddit
why do you feel like you need to upgrade your pc here? that setup is gonna play anything releasing currently
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
i’m kinda new to this whole PC thing just got it about 8-9 months ago not sure how i should go around it tbh
dirtyharo@reddit
that doesn't really answer my question, so you're new, that's fine. you don't need to update your PC, it will play nearly anything at high settings and have a decent framerate at 1440p at the least.
also buying a whole console so that you have access to cheaper games seems kind of silly when you think about it, especially since you already have a computer that can play any new release. it's also not really the case that console games are cheaper unless you buy used or old games.
Steam/Epic/GOG sales happen often enough and games get discounted a ton, so unless there's some game locked to PS5 that you absolutely HAVE to play then there's no real reason to buy one
Grouchy-Band-6674@reddit (OP)
oh sorry i mean i’ve been talking with people from my class and they think i could upgrade it but they have “top tier “ setups so i didnt know if i should believe them ; and yea you are right about TLOU being on offer rn , i just needed some input from others about it , I appreciate your help!
