I had a conversation with the designer of the Raptor at the Shot Show a few years back and he said that the fit of the SD in the upper made a big difference in how effective it would be at preventing gas blow back. Basically an upper with larger/looser tolerances would not see as much benefit, but one that was on the lower end of the tolerance stack would see a bigger benefit from the SD. YMMV.

My SD on the 11.5 DD upper from here works great. The fitment with the lwrc lower is really good though no wiggle at all. So there may be something to this theory

It can vary. I ran an omega 30 on an 11.5 with the raptor sd, then swapped to the non sd, and there was a very noticeable difference

As a charging handle, love the raptor the suppressor specific just a bonus for me. Got a kak down vent bolt, so trying to get it all going the right direction.

Any charging handle. Just use some RTV to block the hole so gas can’t get through, works better than any fancy designs.
