M.2 questions

I got a used pc as gift awhile ago! Now I bought a new m.2 drive and plugged it in!
Now the pc doesn't boot correctly. The power turns on, all the fans are spinning. No reaction on the screen or keyboard etc. After a few seconds it restarts.
I have two chekmarks left to look into! The first is the ram, to see if its faulty.
And the second is my question, my windows drive is in the m.2 slot farthest from the CPU and the new drive is plugged in the slot just above it.
Could that be the cause of my startup issues?

Often the top M.2 slot is what motherboards try to boot from by default. I would go into the BIOS and manually set the boot priority to your older drive.

That's something I cant do. It restarts before screen, keyboard reacts

Then swap where the drives are installed.
You can also try clearing the CMOS.

Gonna try clearing the cmos next, I hope that will work!
Checking the ram will be annoying since the heatsink is really big and covering the ram🤣

I doubt the memory has anything to do with this, since it was working fine before you tried to add the second drive.

Yeah have now removed everything except for ram and cpu, but still no luck. It so wierd!
The closest thing I compare this to is when you try to start a car without fuel🤣

Hmm. OK.
Going back to the beginning... when you had the case open and were installing the new SSD, I wonder if some of the power connections got bumped. I'd be checking and re-seating all of those.
If that does nothing, I'd then be removing all drives see if that has any effect. At this point I'd just like to see the system reliably able to get into the BIOS.

I have reconnected all the cords just in case of what you are describing, no luck.
But I found another post describing my exact issues where the culprit was a faulty power supply. So I'm checking with friends to see if one of them has one laying around that I can borrow

I'm gonna try that, but first breakfast 😋
