Anyone else dealing with likely “fraudulent” candidates when hiring for remote roles?

Last week I posted a new job opening on linkedin for a remote backend engineer.

Received ~2500 resumes.

Scheduled ~30 interviews.

Roughly 25% seem to not be to person they say they are on the resume. None of them seem to know anything about the area where they went to college, their experience they can’t explain in depth, and most have LinkedIn profiles with few connections and no pictures.

Anyone else having this issue lately?
