I think they call this an "oopsie" in the biz
Just sitting in the road with his flashers on. Woops.

I firmly believe if you put the sign in a position that I can only see it after I made the turn it's too late to notify me not to turn there.

Ain't no one care about them signs. If it don't say low clearance than roll on.lol

Possibly. In Southlake, TX, there are several warehouses that are located on “restricted” roads. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

How much is the fine and or points ? The company I work for was trying to force me to pick up on a place that has a 5 ton weight limit on the road heading there..

Is there actually something down the road that would be an issue (other than not seeing the sign of course)? The tree overhangs make it look like trucks do it a lot there, like they have the perfect cut from trailers always going through
View on Reddit #57521093

Nero-Danteson@reddit

Some roads just don't have reinforcement under the pavement. Concrete/asphalt just poured over soft ground

I get that, just surprised they stopped if they saw nothing obvious ahead

At least they put the sign at the intersection instead of 100 feet down the road.

It says expect residential deliveries. If it's says that, I assume it's not a problem to drive on, as in there are no hazards like low bridge etc. Took one not too long ago and got out quite easily on the opposite end of the street. It was a left turn and by the time I saw the sign it was too late and I couldn't do a U
View on Reddit #57556339

Cfwydirk@reddit

Except residential deliveries. I, a LTL P&D driver have made residential deliveries pulling a 53’ trailer. 5 axles on a 5 Ton road? No problem. 35,000 pound empty day cab and trailer plus cargo with no axle over 5 Tons.
View on Reddit #57517566

SoupyGoopy@reddit

Yeah, I deliver to churches and community centers all the time and it's made me a bit too willing to violate truck restrictions lol. OTOH there aren't too many low clearances and weight restricted bridges in my city so I know most of them. That lets me have a good sense of what truck restrictions I have to follow and the ones where I can send it.

I feel bad for u guys who deliver residential in a neighborhood. I once ordered 2 cases of Arizona Canned tea from Costco and instead of some normal delivery like I expected this guy somehow managed to get his truck and 53 footer around the neighborhood bends and to my house, used a dolly and his lift gate and all. Delivery was FREE. 😭 I felt so bad
View on Reddit #57527651

Years ago Amazon was offering free shipping for anyone who signed up for Prime. I signed up and ordered an 800lb concrete mixer to my house. Amazon had to send an A. Duie Pyle guy up to my house, through almost a mile of driveway going across a farm, to deliver that mixer. I don't think they're so generous with free shipping anymore.
View on Reddit #57528932

NaturalFlan5360@reddit

I get your point but the limit is 5 tons with a picture of a 2 axle truck. So the sign is saying you shouldn’t be exceeding 2.5 tons per axle which your setup likely would. Either way residential deliveries gotta happen somehow though
View on Reddit #57524769

Western-Willow-9496@reddit

That’s the standard “no trucks” sign, it has nothing to do with the type.
View on Reddit #57527182

NaturalFlan5360@reddit

Regardless… the other person implied it would be ok as long as each axle did not exceed 5 tons. No vehicle has less than 2 axles meaning the most an axle can weigh is 2.5 tons to stay compliant with the 5 ton max
View on Reddit #57527664

Cfwydirk@reddit

A 26-foot straight truck (also known as a box truck) with two axles typically weighs around 12,500 to 18,000 pounds empty. The maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVWR) for a 26-foot box truck can range from 26,000 to 33,000 pounds, depending on the model and manufacturer. This means that the maximum weight it can carry, including the truck and cargo, is significantly higher than its empty weight.

Oh no, this guy wasn't delivering anything there best I could tell. There's one business there, but he was blocking their drive, not waiting to pull in...

I described the circumstances where it would be legal. The police will sort it out and issue an appropriate citation. The driver or his company can address the citation in court if they can prove they were within the law.

Oh, God. I work nearby and know that road all too well including the RR overpass and the part further down that floods in bad storms. First time I've ever seen a road I know on the sub.

View on Reddit #57522173

Yeah, in Richland Township just north of Q-town borough looking north on California Road from East Pumping Station Rd. I hate that intersection.
View on Reddit #57527385

drimmie@reddit

I thought it looked familar. I usually drive thru there on the way to Philly (fuck the turnpike) in my four wheeler.
View on Reddit #57527482

Allemaengel@reddit

Yeah. Take Pumping Station east from Route 309 where the Wawa, Target, Chick-fil-A are and next light is California Road which gets narrow, hilly and curves in the woods north of there so no trucks further up. I live in the Poconos (Jim Thorpe) and commute Turnpike to Q-town area.
View on Reddit #57530458

drimmie@reddit

I haven't been up near JT in a long time. But I do know the turnpike is the quickest route for ya. That sucks to have to rely on that highway. I fucking hate it. I used to drive from Mt Pocono area to Philadelphia and DelCo via the NE Extension, that drive bores me to death and is expensive now.
View on Reddit #57530702

Allemaengel@reddit

JT is more touristy than ever now. As for the Turnpike, the huge widening project now between Lansdale and Quakertown is the big thing. Next phase Quakertown to up near Emmaus affects my commute.
View on Reddit #57530983

12darrenk@reddit

The widening to 6 lanes is planned to go all the way to the Allentown interchange eventually. With the current section that's is being worked on, we should have paving done or almost done by the end of the year, as long as the main contractor can have stuff ready to go for us. The Turnpike gave an extension until June of 2026 for the section to be completely finished.

He's making a residential delivery... or maybe they are empty... or maybe like most drivers on the 15 south before the Cali scales... they can't read road signs...🤔
View on Reddit #57535581

BigDogDaBeast314@reddit

Naw naw. Why do they ,sometimes, put these signs so far away from the intersection. These and no thru trucks, be like 30 feet back. Once your notice them it's already too late. Not this one tho. This right at the corner

It doesn't take that long to look at it. You can even see where the road crosses streams and rivers and look for weight restrictions on bridges.

I had a delivery to a site on a one-way street that routes like a horse-shoe. I failed to proper trip plan and look on street view. There was a 4 ton limit bridge and I weigh 8x that amount. No way in hell I'm risking that bridge so I reversed out back onto the busy main road. Blocked traffic for a 2nd time, and backed-down the opposite end of the horse-shoe street to get to my delivery site.
View on Reddit #57524379

OneMulatto@reddit

Would have kept going. So many times I said fuck it and kept rolling as long as it felt right and it wasn't an indication of a low bridge or one of those weird bridges made of sticks that were spat on and stuck together.
View on Reddit #57523647

TruckerBiscuit@reddit

**ROOKIES:** If this happens to you put on your flashers, take a deep breath, and call the police/sheriff non-emergency number. Tell them what happened and where you are. Before long an officer/deputy will show up to control the intersection so you can back out and un-fuck your situation. 99% won't issue you a ticket. They'll be happy you did the responsible thing almost immediately instead of keeping on and striking a bridge or worse.
View on Reddit #57523524

Local driver. I see those signs all the time. And usually just ignore them. Butttt I also know where the bridges I don’t need to cross are. Same with the ones that are too low. Hauling, delivering equipment. Some times the elementary school needs a 15k tele handler. Those signs typical apply to “thru” trucks, if you have a bol with a local delivery, you’ll be fine. As long as you aren’t over bridge weights, or smacking them. Might have to take the left lane before you can make a right hand turn. It be like that sometimes.
View on Reddit #57519406

25_Unknown_Devices@reddit

Tho, that 5 ton weight limit tells me either there is a bridge. Or the road can’t handle it. Not all pavement is created equal
