I think there's multiple reasons for it. In a woman's mind it might seem that he's more "intimidating" to other people/men & some women's desire to be "protected." Things that are "rarities" are usually seen as more desirable just because of that + Flex culture too (especially this imo). I think social media had an impact as I think it influenced other people who originally didn't see it as important. Some shorter women say they want to feel "smaller."

I think if you're from a country with people who might be taller or a country where everyone is around the same height it might be less important. Especially when it's the former because if everyone is tall what's there to "brag" about.

I don't understand it personally and I'm glad I don't. I wouldn't want to miss out on a good person just because I'm obsessed with height.
