Select take out and before you get to the pay screen it will ask again if you want the 10p bag. Select no. They will still bag it for you. They're not paid enough to care.
Yah cashiers know people use this "trick" to save literally 10 cents and know exactly what your doing when you ask for a bag after saying no to bags but its not worth fighting you on it we just think your an asshole and do it anyways
because you are using up plastic bags instead of bringing reusable ones. Which now you don't want to help pay for the cleanup of.
If Exxon doesn't have to pay for dumping billions of oil into the ocean, why is the average poor meant to be brow beat over the use of the bag THAT THE STORES PROVIDED FOR YEARS?
Yep this policy was originally drafted as plastic bags only. Which I support. Then they changed it to all bags even paper and biodegradable. Making it no longer a sensible environmental policy but just another form of government taxation.
They did the same thing in Australia. Started with the 10c plastic bag, now it's 25c paper bags for grocery shopping. I always forget to put bags into my car, or leave them in the car while shopping. It's annoying but the plastic needs to be addressed somehow
Ok yah fair the context of the post is a little paper fast food bag, my context is walgreens/CVS where they do do big plastic bags and people were doing this.
The 10c fee still goes to cleanup which is still good so that's still relevant but yah.
I mean when it comes to grocery stores I think they should just charge people for reusable bags and then if you didn’t want them you can bring them back for a refund of the bags. Or something like that.
Relevant to the post directlt, I honestly wouldn't personally mind bringing my own tupperware to fast food places, but we have too much red tape from sue-happy people for that to be allowed.
Listen I get it. Microplastics are in my balls. Right now as I type this there's chunks of old soda bottles floating around my testicles and fucking my swimmers all up. I get it. Plastic bad. People want plastic charge them more and restrict it. I get it.
But fucking paper? The most recyclable, most biodegradable, even fairly clean burning, packaging? Because fucking mega corpos want to squabble over 5 cents? I don't get it.
Its like they're trying to just find a reason for the fat women that eat at these places to complain in line. Like the line barely moves now and there's just going to be more fat chick's in there bitching at a cashier with a glazed over look over 10 cents for a paper bag???
The Scottish Parliament passed legislation on 20 October 2014 (ammended 1st April 2021) that requires all retailers (food and non-food) to charge a minimum of 10p for each new single-use carrier bag (including paper, those made from some plant-based materials and plastic).
So in this case McDonald's is literally charging the minimum they can.
I'll take your word for it, I don't read articles. Against my ethos.
What you're saying is the people of the world need to put a spotlight on the Scottish parliament and figure out just how many of them are in the pockets of plastic manufacturers. No one who was being bought would vote to discourage paper packaging just as much as plastics.
With your new information we've blown the case wide open. Politicians being bought by petroleum refineries and plastic manufacturers to keep plastic products on an even playing field with paper and plant based packaging.
The UN needs to do an inquest and install a temporary government until the investigation is complete. There's going to be a lot of open seats in parliament when its over, maybe that Lucky Charm Leprechaun can run for one. (J/k i know he's not real)
I know you might not know this but paper comes from trees. Those are the brown things that look like penises but the penis head is green and fluffy like youses pubes. Youses saw them when youse was little, probably the last time youse touched grass mmmkay

No, they just give it to you on a tray as if you didn't even ask for it to be carryout.
Solid-Ad6854@reddit
Not been my experience 99% of the time. Only once have they done this and I asked for a bag which they gave at no extra cost. They really don't care.
