What is it? I think I struggled most with the other people, and the varying quality of teaching

Here are my experiences: 1. The lack of consideration and/or awareness for pupils with disabilities, who are simply branded as "naughty" (such a disgusting word), with little to no effort made to understand why they behave the way they do. 2. Open hypocrisy about the uniform codes (I stopped wearing mine when I was about 8 or 9, because my mother couldn't afford any more, and this was before I discovered about the supposed school kickbacks) and the sheer abuse of power that goes on with some teachers, along with how it's basically a breeding ground for bullies. 3. What angers me the most is the corruption within British schools that basically allows them to act like glorified kangaroo courts - if a pupil got in trouble at school, then they were guilty by default and were not allowed to explain their side of the story... and chances are a reprimand at home would follow. How is that fair? Tell me, parents, if you can: have you ever allowed your child(ren) to explain their version of events? For all we know, the teacher(s) could be lying and/or abusing their power. Have you apologised to your kids in the event of a misunderstanding or discovering they were not at fault? These core experiences have galvanised my belief that we don't have a problem with "discipline" or "respect", we have a problem with empathy and humility... and most importantly, we have a nationwide problem with bullying - ***systemic*** bullying. Until we tackle these issues and face reality, we won't get any respect.
