ULPT: Buy nice clothes right before a special event and return them immediately afterwards.

If money is tight you can buy new pants, a new shirt, and a new belt right before a special event (wedding, job interview, funeral, etc) then immediately return it after the event as long as there hasn’t been any damage to the clothing. This won’t work for shoes because people can tell if they’ve been worn for more than a few minutes by looking at the sole. I’m unfamiliar with women’s clothing return policies, so not including those items.
Feel free to say “it didn’t fit my dad” or something like that if you’re concerned about getting caught.

People also do this with large tools. They'll buy a big mitre saw on Thursday, a bunch of lumber and screws on Friday, build their deck/fence over the weekend, and return the saw Monday saying it wasn't what they needed.
