Who else had it?

I think I was 9 or ten when I got this album for Christmas. My parents bought it as a novelty but little did they know it would start me down the path to punk and metal music. Thanks mom and dad!

Omg, memory unlocked. We also would play it at "warp speed" on our record player

First time I heard “My Sharona” it was this - ha ha
mizezslo@reddit
We had Urban Chipmunk

Mommas don't let your babies grow up to be ~~cowboys~~ chipmunks
dj_1973@reddit
I had Chipmunk Rock (1982).
velvet42@reddit
My elder kid, knowing how much I loved my Chipmunk Punk album, spotted Chipmunk Rock at a resale shop and picked it up for me last Christmas!

"You don't. HAAAVE. To live like a refugee!"

‘Theodore, what do those words really mean?’
velvet42@reddit
Beats me!
velvet42@reddit
I unironically believe that the guitar solo in this version of My Sharona is better than the original, and I will die on that hill. It's shorter and simpler, but it's much cleaner and more melodic
Mr_Tort_Feasor@reddit
I had this one when it was new. I later got "Urban Chipmunk."
lilacs_and_marigolds@reddit
I've never seen this one. I had Urban Chipmunk, and another album that was pop covers.
nirreskeya@reddit
I don't remember what records I might have had but I did and still have the towel.
sp0rk_walker@reddit
My first album ! Also had Overnight Sensation from my older bro (relevant user name)
Born_Somewhere_9788@reddit

Had it.
5uck3rpunch@reddit
This looks familiar & may be unlocking core memories....
funktopus@reddit
I had that one.
DramaticErraticism@reddit
I never noticed Theodores high heels. Quite progressive for the time, I must say.
mittenknittin@reddit
What always bothered me about Alvin and the Chipmunks is, why don’t they have stripes? Without stripes they just look like hamsters
Substantial-Stage-82@reddit
I did not, but my cousin did. He had all those old sesame Street records too. We used to jam to that stuff 40 yrs ago. My aunt bought him any and every kids record back in the day. I wonder where they are today..
Jolly_Security_4771@reddit
I am unable to sing Call Me in anything other than a chipmunk voice because of this record.
NixonsTapeRecorder@reddit
The chipmunk version of this song slowed down sounds awesome
Starcat75@reddit
Me
Ok-Heart375@reddit
Nope, but I had the Christmas album
GloriaToo@reddit
I don't remember the chipmunks looking so much like mole rats.
IMTrick@reddit
I was given this one at 14 or so, and I recall being very disappointed at the near-total lack of any actual punk on it.
Master-Collection488@reddit
"Chipmunk Punk" was released in June, 1980. Suicidal Tendencies didn't release a record until 1983.
IMTrick@reddit
OK, I didn't do the math and it turns out my source was incorrect. It was actually Blondie, which makes more sense.
FZKilla@reddit
Still do!
dogfaced_baby@reddit
Memory unlocked! Didn't it have a Blondie cover on it?
JakkSplatt@reddit
Still do.
GTFOakaFOD@reddit
I did!

Omg. My sister and I actually did have this album. I had completely forgotten about until right now. As soon as I saw the pic 😄 It was such a long time ago. I feel so old 😫 Love the nostalgia tho
chopper5150@reddit
Didn’t have that one, but I remember doing the “Christmas, Christmas time is here…” for an elementary school talent show.
