Uh, freightliner bros? Think I just cracked the safe...

Set the air toggles like so after hearing a mention of it in an older post trying to figure out how to get it. Has worked three times now. For the uninitiated continuous comfort mode doesn't turn the engine off/on randomly but just idles, continuously you might say.

I just got an automated button clicker off Amazon and it clicks at 2min 45 seconds on the engine override button. I have it set that way so the truck can idle as long as I want
_N4AP@reddit
Damn dude, you got a link for this thing? I could have really used one of those this winter, trying to take a nap in the cab on my lunch break. Irritating as hell just sitting there pumping the fuel pedal every minute or two to keep the thing alive and hot.
sinnerman33@reddit
If you set cruise control while idling, it will disable the auto-stop. Not sure if this is a universal solution but jt works on a couple of Freightliners we have that auto shut.
toruk_makto1@reddit
Can't on mine
sinnerman33@reddit
Hit the RSM/SET rocker switch up a couple of times.
toruk_makto1@reddit
All those settings are on my steering wheel right side compass

I just use a lighter under the temp sensor for couple minutes lol
tfwInForChop@reddit (OP)
Which button do you click?
AgentOmegaNM@reddit
The one that says OVER RIDE ENG SHDN
Mydogfartsconstantly@reddit
My company disabled it for most routes. If you have a PUD route and have to sit somewhere for 4 hours waiting on a customer to potentially call in from out in the sticks you can have it enabled.
OrganizationNo6167@reddit
First cascadia I had it was disabled, but not this one thankfully 🙏🏻 trailer brake method also works
ChoneFiggins4Lyfe@reddit
Fwiw, that button can be disabled. I’m in a Penske truck and the only way to reset the countdown is to press down the throttle.
OrganizationNo6167@reddit
Yep this one!!
Rare-Giraffe-1386@reddit
Another potential hack, when it’s getting warm inside and doesn’t want to start try turning the microwave on for 60-90 seconds. Will turn on in battery mode instead of continuous comfort mode.
ImmortalEmos@reddit
Can't I just run a hose from my exhaust into the cab? I feel it'll work faster
TDOTBRO@reddit
Nothing warmer than that forever sleep 👌
ImmortalEmos@reddit
The forever box might be more comfortable
duhrun@reddit
Yea how I do it all the time bruh.
powerengineer@reddit
Keep you warm for the rest of your life!
P3tr0@reddit
Never be warm (or cold) again with this one hack!
toruk_makto1@reddit
I used to do that. They changed out my inverter so now after it gets above 71° on the mirror sensor, inverter wants to shut off at 11.9... hotter it goes the higher the voltage it shuts off. As high as 12.3 in the 90s
nexusprax@reddit
Yup I got one of those carpet drying fans for flooded basements turn the truck off with that thing on high ABs in an hour the truck will never turn off because the batteries can never charge fast enough
JD4101@reddit
All good until you’ve got to do a burn 30 min off the depot
brettny585@reddit
Did you try reading the driver’s manual? Lol. The freight liner I am in only idles when battery drains to 12.2
ManagerSilver1592@reddit
Sounds like they should build a better truck.
brettny585@reddit
Lol
tfwInForChop@reddit (OP)
Mine's 14.1 and has been idling for 30min straight. Also companies have been known to remove continuous comfort as an option in the menu so people don't just run their engines, so it has to be tripped indirectly through esoteric practices.
Scrodosaggins99@reddit
Well how the hell does it work
MsMoreCowbell828@reddit
"Optimized Idle" is a wonderful thing.
Outlaw11091@reddit
Something bugged in the interface: it thinks you're going 61 MPH.
shadowmib@reddit
Thats just his cruise setting not actual speed
Outlaw11091@reddit
That's why I said "something was bugged in the interface".
You shouldn't be able to set your cruise to 61 if you're not going 20.
NekoboyBanks@reddit
10 is the min cruise, not 20. (fun fact: you can activate it as low as 1 if in traffic.)
Also it's greyed out meaning it's not the active setting, it's the last setting used that CC will reset to.
Outlaw11091@reddit
AHHH....I still can't see that it's greyed out, but I'll take your word for it. It makes sense.
NekoboyBanks@reddit
Ah ok, that could be a setting 🤷🏻♂️ but it comes in handy when you're cruising through a big facility. They're almost always 10 or 15 mph speed limit.
SamuraiJono@reddit
My truck, a KW, has a limiter feature, where I can set any speed I want and it won't go over that speed, which comes in real handy at low speeds. Set it to 15 and just leave your foot in it and it won't go over 15.
Outlaw11091@reddit
That's what I'm basing my info on: I've never been able to do that...despite the desire and attempts made.
When I drove Walmart for Werner, there were several towns you had to get through when you're going to the DC and being able to kick it down to 15 at certain points would've been nice.
NekoboyBanks@reddit
I wish it were even lower than 10 tbh. Like I said, I can get my truck to cruise as slowly as 1mph, but only in traffic conditions. If I have an inactive setting, and press reset while in lidar range of another vehicle, it will activate under 10mph and cruise at whatever speed the leading vehicle is going, which is normally impossible going that slowly.
So I'd love to be able to set cruise at 4mph in those crawling because my clock is up scenarios, and not being able to isn't a limitation of the truck's capabilities. It makes me wonder why there is any minimum cruise speed at all?
Outlaw11091@reddit
Sadly, in my experience, the answer to these questions is always: idiots.
tfwInForChop@reddit (OP)
Just another little trick but can't share that one. I'm actually going 61 on I-84 both in comfort mode and sleeper berth.

No whistles and yo-yos?

The doll is the special ingredient.

Clean the dist off your dash jeez
Iron_Patton_24@reddit
It’s Freightliner plastic. You clean it and turn dust will come back 3 fold.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit
Disgusting animals 🙂↔️
whiskey-1@reddit
I’ve never had to use any hacks. My truck will switch into continuous on its own if necessary with no input from me other than enabling opti idle in the first place, and it will switch back on its own as well.
NekoboyBanks@reddit
I'm not seeing any instructions on what you did or how to do it?
ChoneFiggins4Lyfe@reddit
One trick I’ve used before, if you have a trailer, set the trailer brakes, but keep the tractor brakes released. It won’t start the countdown on most Cascadia.
yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
BRO! Don’t toy with my emotions like this. But, if you did crack the wonders to the freightiverse then I’m sending you all the free beer for a year. Gonna give your instructions a whirl in the morning
tfwInForChop@reddit (OP)
Yeah I'm not too convinced frankly but we'll see. It was getting it three times that made me optimistic enough to post.
Tank52086@reddit
What’s the outside temp where you are?
tfwInForChop@reddit (OP)
80, though also with direct sunlight on the hood so...
Am timing it and will report back.
