Chevy Suburban 1500 can't be lifted because it isn't a 4x4. Is this right?

I wanted to lift my 1999 Chevy Suburban 1500. It sits very low like a boring Mom's soccer van. I was told that because it isn't a 4x4, it can't be lifted...they don't make the parts anymore but I've seen some 1500's online that are.
The Chevy Suburban 2500 is a higher standing truck. I assume they are all 4x4's. Am I wrong?
HooverMaster@reddit
It can be lifted the same as any other suburban

Ok thank you. appreciate the response.
Whysoblunted@reddit
I mean, you could literally google 99 1500 lift kit and find dozes of options.
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
I know but the guy at Offroad Unlimited said they couldnt do it anymore. I have no idea.
InterestNo5406@reddit
You should have pointed to their sign and said I guess you guys aren’t unlimited after all.
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
haha....I should have.
Whysoblunted@reddit
I have no idea what "offroad unlimited" is, but they're clearly wrong or didnt want to do the work for you.
Dually_McFart_Face@reddit
You could literally google 'offroad unlimited" and determine ....
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
ok. that could be the case. Thanks.
SuddenLeadership2@reddit
Their probably just saying it because they dont wanna do the job. If they dont wanna do the job, take it to someone who can do it or you just gotta do it yourself
MaximumDerpification@reddit
Not true. You can certainly lift a 2wd.
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
Even if its old? The guy made it sound like it was super hard to do and also hard to find the parts. No idea.
MaximumDerpification@reddit
I don't know what the guy was talking about. The Chevy 1500 pickup is one of the top five most sold vehicles ever in the USA, there's a billion of them on the road and I can't imagine that finding upgrade parts will be difficult. I used to own one and nothing was hard to find.
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
ok thanks. appreciate it.
rudbri93@reddit
I lifted my 99 yukon (it was a 4x4) it can definitely be done. But old stuff can be rusty and a pain to deal with.
cuntface878@reddit
Head over to the r/offroad sub or the Chevytrucks sub. They will give you more detailed information but yeah you can definitely get many different lift kits for a 2 wheel drive Suburban.
rudbri93@reddit
who told you that?
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
The guy at a High end Truck Acessory Place. I think maybe they just don't want to do it.
rudbri93@reddit
Yea find someone else to talk to about that.
AshlandPone@reddit
If they can lift a smart car...
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
fair enough.....i'll have to google that.
doubtsnail@reddit
Bruh
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
haha...say it.
-Brother-Seamus-@reddit
I can't really think of a bigger waste of time and money than lifting a 26 year old 2wd
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
Fair enough. I just wanted to know if it's true or not. I dont know anything about lifting a truck.
Elitepikachu@reddit
So they can look "cool". Bonus points if they back over a miata or a family of 4 then say "i didnt see you".
haus11@reddit
Or the shop doesnt want to do it, so they say it can't be done.
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
thats what im thinking....and honestly, I don't know shit about lifting a truck. I'm in the dark on this.
robbobster@reddit
2500s come in 4x2 and 4x4
Outrageous_Hawk_7919@reddit (OP)
and either could be lifted, yes?
So can 1500s be both as well? 4x2 and 4x4?
Thanks
