I get paid hourly otr with overtime kicking in everyday after 8hrs 🙂 with loading in the am before j start my day then a full day of driving maxing out the driving hours i can sometimes get 8 hours overtime ! wintertime going slow doesn't matter and when stuck behind slow drivers . Hourly is the way to go.

I'd ask how many runs a day. What is the radius you'll be working in. Is there any bonuses. Will you have an assigned truck or will you be slip seating. Does it ever slow down under 40?
Late_Science_4767@reddit (OP)
What do you mean under 40? Like 40 hours?
deafening_silence33@reddit
Yes. I've been local for two years. I did roofing supplies. There's not a lot of roofing going on in the winter so we got pretty slow. If you're delivering forklifts it probably won't be weather dependent.
But being hourly it's always good to ask if there's a slow season and how slow can it get.

If you’re paid hourly you probably won’t get any other stipends, at least I never have for the 3 local companies I worked for. I got paid from the second I arrived to work until the second I leave regardless of what happens out on the road. I remember we had one guy get stuck on a closed pass overnight… OT stacked up quick for him.

Sheesh can’t wait to get stuck somewhere

It happens all the time and as long as you report the issue and I recommend taking photos, they can't do anything. As long as you're doing the best you can and not wasting time, it's a good gig.

Ask how OT breaks down, like do you get daily time and a half after 8, or is it after 40 or what?
Ask how often you'll be required to be on call, or work weekends.
Ask about production goals, as in, if they require you to meet certain cut-times or stops per day.
Ask what are some of the more difficult customers they serve and what facilities you'll be visiting. Ask for names and descriptions.
Ask about time-off requests and attendance policy.

Is that all hours on duty, drive time hours. Is OT after 40 or after a set amount of hours per day. Is there a set raise schedule or is it based on performance and if schedule what is that schedule along with amount of raise. If it's performance what are the criteria that need to be met.

Your getting paid hourly ,even if you break down you should be good
