Vending machines that sell socks in public places for when yours get soaked

Ever get caught in the rain, step in a puddle, or get surprise-soaked at the beach? Imagine a vending machine that sells clean, dry socks in places like train stations, airports, or theme parks.
Bonus: warm socks option in winter. Double bonus: disposable flip-flops in summer.
Might be a weird idea… but also? Kinda genius?

Not crazy! Good idea. But why stop at socks. Let's pop in some underwear and umbrellas
RaccoonLover2022@reddit
I saw a vending machine that sold hair products, bushes, hairspray and wigs

A vending machine wig, Wowzers!
What country was this??
RaccoonLover2022@reddit
A military base in the US. The vending machine was in what outside the Post Exchange. (military department store)

Japan has this. Japan has amazing stuff in vending machines (and some weird NSFW stuff, but mostly the amazing stuff).
BombBombBombBombBomb@reddit
Why?
Just go without socks
RepresentativeOk2433@reddit
Bro, just stop at the shady gas station. They always have loose socks for sale. Usually they are behind the counter or next to the spray paint.

I'm going to pass along this idea, I have someone in my life who's looking for a good vending machine concept to take to market

How about a "general goods" machine?
Socks, flip flops, sunglasses, small umbrellas, basic sewing kit, ball cap, etc for like $2-5
Various painkillers, chapsticks, pens, permanent marker/sharpies, pocket packs of tissues, dayquil, etc for $1-3
Candies, chips, and general vending machine goods at the bottom if they really want
Genoce@reddit
At some point you're better off just opening a market instead of having a vending machine with tons of different items :D

“I wanna see a vending machine that sells vending machines, it’d have to be real fuckin big.”
randoperson42@reddit
Too late. I already stole it.
Onyxxx_13@reddit
Used to be more common. Making me feel old.
I was listening to some podcast about how people don't really come up with a ton of new ideas anymore, just some ideas get old and fall out of common usage until someone thinks of it again.

Tell Thomas Hobbes about it.

Or have a sock dryer that blows hot air to drive them on bathroom walls. You could even use it to dry your hands, or your hair.
😆
Sorry, man. My Gen x gene kicked in, and I think I had to release some snark. Nothing personal, internet friend.
Excellent-Berry-2331@reddit
You know that you are not supposed to go only with socks, right?
reyseven@reddit
It'll sell well by the river
SuperFLEB@reddit
Some asshole's gonna go pouring a bottle of water in the drop tray, tho'. You just know it.
TrashPandaNotACat@reddit
I saw socks in a vending machine at an airport last year. I don't remember which one, though. It was either DAL, HOU, or AUS. I think it was in DAL.
ZaharaSararie@reddit
Maybe they'd also sell disposable plastic shoe covers. Slip them on when it's wet out, or you'd want to protect your feet/shoes.
InventorOfCorn@reddit
to be profitable it should mostly be in rainy areas
ObjectiveOk2072@reddit
That sounds like something Japan would have
Kiro0613@reddit
Perfect to have in bowling alleys and roller rinks too
No-Stretch-9230@reddit
My bowling alley has this
unknown_anaconda@reddit
I swore I had seen this somewhere before but was struggling to recall where until I saw your comment. The local fun center requires socks for skating and the play zone and has a vending machine stocked with them.

My bowling alley has a sock vending machine

Japan has vending machines that sell socks
Anonymoose_1106@reddit
Take a page out of the army's playbook. You can't have too many pairs of socks. Keep a pair in your daily ruck, your vehicle, your purse, at your place of employment, etc.
The obvious benefit is dry socks and comfort, but if you're in a bind they're good for a lot more. Cold hands? Improvised mitts. Cold dick? Dick warmer. No toilet paper? A valiant sacrifice.
Turbulent-Name-8349@reddit
Can we have one that sells underwear too, please. If they keep falling down, or if it's brown trousers time.
iwantfutanaricumonme@reddit
They have that in Japan but they're used.
MintWarfare@reddit
I swear I've seen socks in vending machines before
fluffynuckels@reddit
Seems Ike something they'd have at an airport
