Palestinian children suffering from malnutrition overwhelm Gaza’s Nasser Hospital

“For more than two months, Israel has banned all food, medicine and other goods from entering the territory that is home to some 2 million Palestinians, as it carries out waves of airstrikes and ground operations. Palestinians in Gaza rely almost entirely on outside aid to survive because Israel’s offensive has destroyed almost all the territory’s food production capabilities.”
Can someone who cares about children and human beings in general explain why this is acceptable?
DivideMind@reddit
I don't think anyone other than actual paid agents are defending it anymore. Israel went from "highly immoral warfare" to "uncontested genocide" awhile ago (not the first time they've been at that point either, and it never stopped in the West Bank.)
wet_suit_one@reddit
Goddamn.
This shit hurts my heart.

DivideMind@reddit
Yeah I've read of a lot of conflicts and talked to some of the people involved, but it only gets a little easier to deal with. My own family is a weird shattered amalgam that came out of events in the cold war, conflict and genocide affect us all, I hope Earth finds some semblance of peace in our lifetimes.
Mundane_Emu8921@reddit
There are a lot of paid agents though. That creates a long term problem; censored, superficial support of Israel.
GianfrancoZoey@reddit
That’s the funny thing, it’s not working at all. Despite all the billions they’ve spent on paid agents/bots and politicians/the media Israel is hated by the public of almost every country.
Anyone who is terminally online and browsing sites like Reddit/twitter has noticed how obvious the bot activity is and it’s had the opposite effect that it’s meant to. They’re too obviously evil/stupid/illogical that it draws too much attention to them
BufferUnderpants@reddit
They don't seem to even try censoring /r/worldnews into being Israel-friendly, their plants there lost control of the narrative.

You dont have to be online all the time to not be drawn into their propaganda. Israel is losing the PR battle and is in a spot that they cannot recover from. Obvious they commit genocide but just looking at a PR angle. Israel will never be popular again. Its almost existential and their days might be numbered as they heavily relly on Western govt support. And there the people do not support Israel. New generations could drop Israel. The US could also be one of them.

1910's?
nj0tr@reddit
When the Ottoman empire collapsed and the British received their mandate from the LN. It entered into force on 28 June 1919 so scrapes the 10's by just 6 months.
DivideMind@reddit
1920s really, but the policy was set in the 10s. It wasn't Israel but it was the actions that created Israel, the British chose the Jewish peoples to be their favored leaders of Mandatory Palestine, and suppressed dissent against their installed leadership with the Black & Tans taking a major part (which was actually a diabolically genius move as far as authoritarians go, unlike the rest of the plan, which was incredibly ill-fated.) There is a lot to unpack there, it was a brutal part of Palestinian history, I recommend reading about it, I'm not enough of a historian to do it justice in a Reddit post.
photochadsupremacist@reddit
Divide and conquer was a very common tactic used by colonial countries and the legacy of such tactics still persists to this day.
For example, in Lebanon, Maronites were pitted against Sunnis and Shias and tensions slowly escalated until they reached a boiling point and a civil war broke out.
In India, Muslims were pitted against Hindus which is what caused the partition.
In French Algeria, the French created a narrative that the Kabyle people were better suited to French culture than Arabs.
Proper-Community-465@reddit

Instabanous@reddit
It is unacceptable both for Israel to do this and more so for Hamas to continue to not surrender or release all the hostages. Ideally they wouldn't have started this in the first place and used all the aid money over the decades to make Gaza wonderful. Very sad indeed.
GianfrancoZoey@reddit
If you’re still pretending that Hamas “started” this on October 7th then you must be a paid shill. People might have believed these talking points 20 months ago but everyone knows the truth now.
Instabanous@reddit
Nope, not a paid shill and not completely excusing Israel. Hamas are responsible though and responsible for the continuation.
applesauce0101@reddit
Netanyahu has repeatedly said that he will not end the war even if the hostages are released. Negotiations have gone nowhere specifically because Israel refuses end the war until "Hamas is destroyed".
Hamas offered to release all remaining hostages back in April and Netanyahu refused
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
It is abundantly clear that if Hamas did surrender and free all the hostages there is no guarantee, or even likelihood, that Israel would let more food in or cease the genocide.
Israel has form in this (saying it wants one thing, then when the Palestinians comply adding forever more conditions), and what Israeli politicians, media personalities and IDF officers are saying is clear: The Israeli government wants genocide. It’s united with most MKs. The majority of the population support genocide. What Hamas does or doesn’t do is irrelevant now, and has been for over a year.
Instabanous@reddit
Israel could have wiped Gaza off the map years ago if they were truly genocidal. Hamas literally have genocide in their constitution, openly. They will never stop. I don't know the solution but they could have prevented and stopped this at every step.
pm_me_your_pay_slips@reddit
Because they historically didn’t way ti be accused of genocide. But they have been trying to terrorize the population and making their life unbearable so they leave. And this has included killing people, destroying farmland, destroying housing, destroying educational buildings and destroying healthcare infrastructure. They also want to prevent record keeping by destroying government buildings. Since 2008 it is known that they intended “to keep the Gazan economy on the brink of collapse without quite pushing it over the edge” and “to maintain Gaza "functioning at the lowest level possible consistent with avoiding a humanitarian crisis”.
That has Chang since their leadership is now openly calling for eviction or annihilation.
Maximum_Rat@reddit
Nope.
All cards on the table, I don’t think this is a genocide (for nuanced reasons, definitely a cornucopia of war crimes), think the UN is weirdly biased against Israel, and that Hamas needs to be removed.
All that to say, there’s absolutely no excuse for denying aid. Yes it will help Hamas. Yes it will be stolen by terrorist groups and gangs. Yes to every concern every talking head puts out. You still feed innocent people. Fuck, even if it’s just fortified rice and water. You feed innocent people. The actual Nazis and Isis could breed into a super baby of terror, you still feed innocent people.
IAMADon@reddit
Genocide experts disagree.
The Nazi's even fed people. They only allowed trace amounts of food in to slowly starve everyone, but the fact Israel are increasing the food from zero to trace amounts for the purposes of being able to continue what practically every expert considers genocide should tell you something.
Maximum_Rat@reddit
First, if you’re wondering my view on whether or not it’s a genocide and the war in general, it’s basically identical to Bernie Sanders. So, let that be what it is.
But the whole point I was trying make is that there is no excuse for what they’re doing. It’s a war crime. I only brought up my position, to strengthen the condemnation.
TheMamba117@reddit
All you need to do is look at what the top Israeli officials are saying to know that it is genocide.
Stubbs94@reddit
You just need to not be a racist prick to understand it's a genocide. The only reason anyone thinks this isn't a genocide is because it's not being done to an acceptable group.
EbbNervous1361@reddit
So innocent they’d rape and murder any Israeli aid worker caught outside of their safety zone
banjosuicide@reddit
Yeah, those children and babies would be raping people right now if they weren't suffering from severe malnutrition.
(obvious /s for those who need it)
Maximum_Rat@reddit
Yes. All non-combatant Palestinian people will run a train on anyone outside a safe zone. WTF a wrong with you? Obviously multiple gangs and terror groups pounce on aid and people. That has nothing to with getting aid to innocent people. No one is saying bad people don’t exist you brain rotted gimp.
Dry-Season-522@reddit
Because the lack of food is not why they're starving. Hama hoarding all the food and using it to control people is why they're starving. That's why the US is currently going directly to the people with aid instead of sending truckloads for hamas to hijack and disappear.
pimmen89@reddit
How are they supposed to send the food to individual children without trucks? An army of drones?
pm_me_your_pay_slips@reddit
They control more than half of the territory and routinely tell civilians where to go.
pm_me_your_pay_slips@reddit
You control more than half of the territory
cap123abc@reddit (OP)
Where is Hamas getting this made up food you talk about?
Pklnt@reddit
Even if Hamas takes up all the food, this is still Israel's responsibility to provide for the Palestinian population.
You can't destroy Palestinian's way to make food, blockade any aid that prevents them to get food then act that it is not your responsibility that the population you're actively preventing to get food by itself can't feed itself.
Decent_Cheesecake_29@reddit
It’s very simple. Because Israelis overwhelmingly want to genocide Palestinians, and kill every man, woman, and child in Gaza.
Dry-Season-522@reddit
If they did, why are there still palestinians?

Statement_I_am_HK-47@reddit
Dresden was about crippling the transport infrastructure of one of the largest armies in Europe, poised to send reinforcements to commit further war crimes in Ukraine and shore up the tank crews that would be pushing on Kursk. It wasn't a retaliatory strike against civilians, rather an acknowledgement that so long as Hitler was going to deliberately kill Allied civilians, the Allies would at least hit military targets regardless of human shields used by the Nazis.
The notion that Dresden was some revenge measure to sow the fields with salt and exhaust the spirit of the Germans through civilian bombing was literal Nazi propaganda. Goebbels used Dresden to suggest the Allies were planning the utter genocide of the Deutschesvolk. Congrats. You are spouting literal Nazi propaganda.

Gaza is much more strategically valuable to the Palestinian war machine than Dresden ever was to the Reich. The relocation of 1 million Gazans to Libya and the occupation regime using Gulf Arab forces will in effect neutralize any threat from Gaza to Israel and allow Gazans a retrieve from Hamas.
Statement_I_am_HK-47@reddit
Bro, Gaza is a fucking LA suburb; Dresden was the main railyard in Eastern Germany. The German Army High Command's Weapons Office counted 127 medium-to-large factories and workshops that supplied the army with war materiel. The Americans counted 110, including a poison gas manufacturer we later learned was supplying the camps.
Shut the fuck up, genocidal displacer. God, I'm sick of these edgy armchair analysts who heard a garbage person like David Irving talk about Dresden ten years ago and never looked into it further. Ope there's that bullshitter again. And I think we found the agenda. Ethnonationalists suck. Ethnonationalists who support displacement should be stacked like sandbags. I called you a barbarian earlier. And, when I thought you were some white ragebaiter masquerading as a person of color for clout, I took it as assumed that there would be no offense to being called as such. Now that I know you are Turkish, I want to take the time to make clear this was in no way associated with your race, skin color, culture, or ethnicity. Rather, I wanted to, with derision and contempt, make clear that I considered your attitude about human rights to be backward, and your politics unevolved. I have enjoyed the company of too many Turkish people to count, and met too few that I disliked to be worth remembering. I have admired the politics of great figures like Ataturk, whom I have often cited as an example of returning a sectarian state to stability without sowing division. Your comment about a green card seems to indicate you think my hostility comes from being a foreigner generically - far from it. To be honest, I find immigrants to the United States to be of better character than the average birth American. They are almost always like someone who wishes to be a polite guest, and I would be in favor of easing the path to citizenship. You're a barbarian in the sense that Nazis or the Khmer Rouge or the Real IRA are barbarian. By sheer numbers alone the PKK's campaign caused less human suffering than your stance would.

I am German. I know about these. But it's not the same scale at all. Absolutely, sure, but Germany is much larger than Gaza. Residents of the old territories were mostly resettled to Germany, not taken to other completely unrelated countries to get them out of the way. There was a lot of food scarcity after the war, but while the allies certainly didn't have clean hands, arguing that they intentionally put people into camps to starve them is disingenuous at best. Especially in the west, it was mostly logistical issues that brought suffering

Just for the looks.
