WHAT 3 ENGINES SHOULD I PICK OUT FROM THE JUNK YARD?

So I have a youtube channel that is currently doing an S10 for under $10k to run 9s within 2 months. Project is going along EXTREMELY well, but i am already thinking of the next series for the channel...
My idea is grabbing 3 different junk yard engines and throwing them into the S10... All with the same setup that we are building the current project with, just different motors... it wont be the typical "which junk yard engine can make the most power" videos, but more along the lines of "which junk yard engine will be the fastest on the draggy/quarter mile".
All running the same trans, same turbo, same standalone, same injector sizes, etc. The only difference will be the engine.
With that being said, aside from the LS engines, what would be the community TOP 3 junk yard engines to go get?
I am looking for out of the norm engines.... not the typical NA 2j or the coyote... im thinking ODD engines that not many people would think off...
LET THE IDEAS COME IN!!! :)

3800 or maybe jeep 4.0 i6 if it fits.

If you’re boosting it anyway, a turbocharged LV3 is kind of the spiritual successor to a Syclone/Typhoon that GM should have built.
Sticking with a turbo V6 theme, a VQ35/37 would be a decent option.
And for my left field pick, an 07k Volkswagen. Dirt cheap and they sound incredible turbocharged, and can make serious power.

bellhousing adapting will be fun. stick a bmw m54 or m52 in there.

Luckily I have a buddy with decent machines that could make me adapter plates for the engines to the powerglide... only thing would be the driveshafts and may be the converters setups. Ill see what we can come up with.
M54 could be a contender

now that i think of it, the 350 swapped s10s are super tight, there room for an inline 6?
AlwaysBagHolding@reddit
Header and steering interference is usually the problem, not length on a v8 s10 IIRC. M5x engines won’t have that problem since the exhaust is on the passenger side. You might have to get creative with radiator placement but just stick it in the bed if it’s a drag car anyway.

Hmmmm I would need to take measurements. That's a good question.
rudbri93@reddit
supercharged ecotec or 3.8 v6 could be winners.
shoptalkstreetfame@reddit (OP)
U mean the LSJ from the cobalt SS? The 3.8 is interesting
rudbri93@reddit
yup, hell even just a regular ecotec 2.4 if you cant find a turbo/supercharged one
shoptalkstreetfame@reddit (OP)
Ive owned a few LSJ and LNF.... they would be a bit hard to find at a junk yard tho

2jz s10 is doable so im assuming its n54 are similar dimensions
2jz s10

I vote for Buick 425, 430, or 455 or Cadillac 472.
ChristopherKaya@reddit
Vortec 4.2 needs to be there
shoptalkstreetfame@reddit (OP)
That's the inline 6 right?
ChristopherKaya@reddit
Yep. And one just made 1000hp lol
bimmervschevy@reddit
Yep

Do a legendary v8 from each domestic brand.
Ford: 4.6L DOHC modular
GM: 6.0L LS2
Dodge: 5.7L Hemi
IRefuseToPickAName@reddit
This would be cool
ibefreak@reddit
Would definitely do the i5 from the Colorado or the 4.3 vortec v6 from the s10/1500. Don't do an ls tho. That's so norm any more. Get weird with it. 1jz that thang

Are you building the motors at all? Or just pulling them and slapping them in the truck?
If you plan to build them a bit then a big block out of an early 90s gm truck seems like a no brainer. You can easily make 600-800hp with some high comp pistons, a cam and some heads. Or if you go forced induction well into the 1000+ range is possible.

Not building them at all. Slapping them in the truck one at a time till each blows attempting the fastest quartet mile pass they can.

Seems to me that the logical thing to do then would be look at whatever makes the most HP in stock for and nah that.
If you're not putting any work into the motors, the one that makes the most HP/Torque per lb is going to be the fastest.

Supercharged 3.8 UZ, especially if 1 or 3
shoptalkstreetfame@reddit (OP)
1uz could definitely be a fun one for suuure
Ilikejdmcars@reddit
K24 of course. EJ257 if you can find one.

Uuf... idk about boxters + powerglide.... that won't last a video lol
