CDL IS INVALID

Vernon, MO
I got into a collision accident, state trooper pulled into the scene on the shoulder of I-44.
The incident was cleared up and I wasn't at fault. But the situation escalated because he said my Class A license was showing up invalid, said he checked multiple times and told me he checked with a superior and still came back invalid.
I ended up getting a citation for that, he told me I should be good as long as I bring proof that my license is valid.
I'm from California and now I have to show up to missouri court date.

Starting I believe sometime next month, the doctors will be required to send physical results directly to FMCSA who will then send them to the drivers home state.
Good_Sailor_7137@reddit
Check CA dmv for tickets or unpaid fines?
007MRPERFECT007@reddit
Child support or wherever you got your license from has revoked it because you broke contract
Affectionate_Web_672@reddit
If your medical card has expired, or your state has not updated it in the system, or they messed up putting it in the system, it will downgrade the CDL to a regular drivers license. Not sure if this pertains to you, but here in Alabama, a couple of years ago they were horrible with putting it in the system, you’d get pulled over, or at a scale, and a trooper would say you didn’t have a cdl. The state would fix it, no problems came after that.
Helped a buddy of mine sitting at a TN scale a few years back calling the state for him and getting it sorted. TN let him go after the state fixed it.

Indiana had, possibly still has, a broken fax machine. It wouldn't print the bottom of the pages. You know, the part with the signature. My company would have you also take your medical to the DMV. Best part, a guy got his car towed because 'he didn't have insurance ' because of this issue. After they cited him, and towed his car, they got it sorted out. Then he had to pay the tow and storage fee.
Beekatiebee@reddit
Damn.
Oregon lets you email your Medcard in lmao.
Got a “k thx” automated response, was kinda sketchy but it worked.
Civil-Stretch-795@reddit
Same, I always thought well that must have been the wrong email. Seems strange that a government office would have such an informal auto response. I even went to the DMV and made sure it was in there. The guy at the desk said yeah that response was for testing and now no one knows how to change it lol
Beekatiebee@reddit
> The guy at the desk said yeah that response was for testing and now no one knows how to change it lol
That's such an Oregon thing to do
Affectionate_Web_672@reddit
Alabama changed the fax number, then the email I want to say 3 times? Without telling anyone. So people were sending them to nobody. It’s insane to me that the paper copy doesn’t matter anymore. It’s all about if the system says you are good.
Significant-Spray-24@reddit
Why are we talking about medical?
Affectionate_Web_672@reddit
Because one is the only reasons I can think of, that would make a cdl invalid, is an improperly submitted med cert by the state, doctor, driver, or company.
LastMongoose7448@reddit
Swift is pretty good at tracking that stuff. Chances are more likely that a Missouri cop is incompetent.
2skin4skintim@reddit
You want a trooper sending someone back out on the road with an invalid CDL? That's incompetent! He did his best for OP.
LastMongoose7448@reddit
I HIGHLY doubt the CDL was invalid; there’s some real dipshits in uniform. Also, by the sound of it, he did let him carry on, so it was all for nothing, wasn’t it?
AreaCode757@reddit
yes
AreaCode757@reddit
no ….god bootlickers are pathetic…
AS a retired career police officer then FED regulator….it’s ABSOLUTELY with a trooper or ANY LEO’s discretion to issue a summons.
I have had MANY MANY experiences with SLDA aka DMV’s (pick your state & their title) SCREWING up a CDL holder’s license….simply because in most instances there little if ANY accountability for their stupidity, laziness or oversight…
In EVERY case if the driver showed me what presented as a VALID CDL with a VALID med card I would call the dispatch SUPERVISOR who is FAR FAR FAR more knowledgeable than me and exceptionally skilled at digging up the truth….in all but ONE case the drivers were telling the truth…CDL holders lives essentially are tied to that little license and I wasn’t about to screw over the heartbeat of America.
scruffaluffaguss@reddit
Had this exact experience a month ago with one of my AL drivers. Got pulled into a scale in TN and was notified he had an invalid CDL.
Tums out doctors never submitted his info after they said they did. He has his form on him but it showed up as invalid so they couldn’t let him go until it was appropriately submitted.
artofisma24@reddit (OP)
I thought it was medical at first. When I got to trucking school I had to submit one, when I got the job I had to submit a new one, however, that one needed a resubmission, but regardless I got the case number for it. And when I checked with my DMV the expiration date matched the date of the new one.
25_Unknown_Devices@reddit
Medical card is only good for 2 years assuming you are healthy. It’s up to you to stay on top of it. And yeah, you’ll get a suspension if it isn’t renewed on time.
offsetbackingtoright@reddit
The school you went to probably got busted getting licenses for illegals with fake credentials and now every license associated with them has been invalidated. Not the first time this has happened. You can plea to the judge that you did not know, and show him every thing you have done is on the up and up and he might grant you a stay to go and retest or go to another school, but it looks like you're out of the game for now.
xxenoscionxx@reddit
Wait…so a shitty school gets busted or whatever. The tests that were conducted become invalid. Thus invalidating your CDL ?
I mean that’s fucked. I thought once I had my test done it severed the connection to the school and in my case, I would be with the CO DMV.
I wonder how far they can go back in time ?
artofisma24@reddit (OP)
I went to 160 truck driving school
offsetbackingtoright@reddit
Dude, seems like I remember hearing about them getting busted, instructors taking bribes to get illegals CDL and that got everyone invalidated. You may be a victim of illegal alien crime or collateral damage.
remog@reddit
In the latest episode of the “illegals” fanfic….
Significant-Spray-24@reddit
No I don't think that's the right school . I never heard about 160 having any legal issues
Unique-Ad-2544@reddit
Tf are you even talking about😂
mistakemaker3000@reddit
No you didn't 😂

States were lax in certifying medical to CDL when we went to DMV. Now doctors will submit them. This has the potential to be a grade A cluster fuck.
Seanw59@reddit
Never trust the doc to submit your medical. I ran into this once and I even had the paper in my hand, but because the doctors office didn’t send it in it wasn’t valid. Once I uploaded it myself, I went back to the DOT and they cleared it.
HistoricalAlarm21@reddit
Also, never trust management to update it it either, mine said he did a few years back, although he never got confirmation back from the state and I ended up driving for a year and a half with a downgraded license. Lesson learned, always so it yourself.
69trkr77@reddit
That's going to be the new federal guidelines. We be screwed.
Significant-Spray-24@reddit
They won't allow you to deal with it online? I thought most states would maybe you just need to mail in documentation before the date on your citation . I would call the court and find out. Do it sooner than later.
up3r@reddit
How???? Is it valid? Did you pay someone under the table for this license?
I hope you can prove that it is valid. The extra trip to Missouri seems to be the least of your worries here.
artofisma24@reddit (OP)
I checked with my DMV they said it's valid
NFLTG_71@reddit
See that’s the problem you have a California license and you’re dealing with the right wing redneck in Missouri. This isn’t the first time it’s happening and I guarantee you it’s because you’re from a blue state. Make sure you get a statement from the DMV in California saying it is a valid license.
1WontHave1t@reddit
California and Texas have had issues with cdls recently stemming from corruption in cdl testing. This driver may not be one of the ones but his cdl may have inadvertently been flagged as invalid during that.
There is also the issue of if you are interstate or intrastate. If he is intrastate then his cdl wouldn't be valid in other states as he is only good to work in California. This would show as having a valid cdl in California and invalid in other states. This is the more likely answer for what happened. It maybe someone screwed up and put intrastate instead of interstate.
Not everything is political, and there are usually rational explanations for it.
Don't look for zebras when you hear hoofbeats.
NFLTG_71@reddit
I knew about the story in Texas about the fake CDL‘s or the invalid CDL‘s didn’t hear anything about California from my experience when I got pulled over in Missouri five or six years ago the sheriff deputy heard me talking and asked me if I was from New York and I had to explain to him, I’m from South Florida, but all the kids I went to school with all their families were from the northeastI showed him my drivers license showing it was from Arkansas and he had no problem.
1WontHave1t@reddit
Ok and what is the point of your story?
Some LEO asked you if you were from somewhere based on your accent? I don't see how that ties in unless you are insinuating that he had something against you just based on your accent.
NFLTG_71@reddit
Hello, have you not been paying attention? The left does it too. They see someone wearing a red hat and assume that it’s a Maga hat and assume that the person wearing it is Maga
1WontHave1t@reddit
Is that what you are saying though? Are you jumping to the conclusion that because someone asked you if you are from a certain place because of your accent you assume they have something against you.
It doesn't matter who does it, that's not OK.
You know how many times I get asked in Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee if I'm from some state from the southwest. Not once has the person seemed to hold that against me but rather bring up that they have visited there or have family there.
Unless you are leaving something out of that story of yours that is a jump to assume he had something against you. Could he, absolutely but it's just as likely he knew someone from there or had visited there.
Again, if you hear hoofbeats don't assume zebras.
Wheres_Jay@reddit
This may be the most ignorant thing I've ever read.
NFLTG_71@reddit
Well, are you a trucker Jay? I am and we should put the question to the group has anybody from a blue state been told that their license was invalid in a red state
Snookfilet@reddit
Perpetual victimhood
mwonch@reddit
Yeah, sure. Everything is about political harassment. Riiiiiiight
Row30@reddit
You should be able to pull the report document from the DMV site. I believe it cost a few dollars, no more than five dollars.
Once you get that report in your hand, and when you do get the document, it is certified that it did come from the DMV, you call the court in Missouri and tell them about you not being able to make it back for a court date and ask if you can submit the valid documents. It’s worth a phone call.
artofisma24@reddit (OP)
Thank you!
Row30@reddit
Last time I pulled a document from the DMV site, the top of the document showed the website so it was verifiable that it did come directly from the DMV. Good luck to you.
potatocross@reddit
Do they have a current copy of your physical?
up3r@reddit
That's awesome
69trkr77@reddit
That's going to be the new federal guidelines. We be screwed.
QuietRightSlick@reddit
I wager Paul will be the last man standing
Wheres_Jay@reddit
If your medical card is invalid, your license may be downgraded
ConsequenceSweaty241@reddit
Yeah that sucks or you can find a lawyer to handle it for you if you're CDL is good I would check with your state just to make sure they didn't suspend it and you never got the message
artofisma24@reddit (OP)
On top of that. The truck had 3 different parts with 3 different registrations, and the paperwork I had didn't match the truck.
NFLTG_71@reddit
What company do you work for?
artofisma24@reddit (OP)
Swift
LastMongoose7448@reddit
I haven’t been at Swift for a while, but I do remember having to stay on top of those things myself. Terminals can always print stuff out that you don’t have as current.
Chuck-Finley69@reddit
When your papers show Los Zetas INC as the shipper, there's your sign.

This is why you pre trip make sure you have all your paperwork. With the court date hire a lawyer, they can go in your place for representation.
