Everything about this car baffles me
You want to make a new Charger? Fine. Why lead with the least popular of all the versions you're going to sell? This thing is going to be a 4 door and 2 door with either the new inline 6 or an EV. Even basic market research will tell you the EV 2 door is going to sell the least even if (and this is a big if!) those insanely optimistic EV adoptation rates forcasted in 2020 would continue
Like, a large chunk of online discussion of this car doesn't know that there's a non-EV version coming out. Is everyone in Detroit putting that needle in their arm? How are they so bad at this?
Phosphorus444@reddit
It's a degenerative disease known as Stellantis syndrome.
fatitalianstallion@reddit
Kuniskus is doing his best to save Ram.
_galaga_@reddit
fwiw the '25 RAM 1500 I've been spending some time in is a well done product. Seems like that's where they put all their attention.
fatitalianstallion@reddit
Mid tier interiors and temporarily dead 6.2L are my only complaints with Ram’s lineup. The difference between the TRX/Limited interior and even the Rebel higher trim is pretty significant. They said, I’m comparing my 22 yo my father’s 24 loaded rebel. The leather should wrap the dash and doors instead of just on slightly more than touch points at the msrp requested.
_galaga_@reddit
Gf went from a ‘16 Big Horn (which later became a lower tier trim but wasn’t so low back then) to a new Rebel. She off-roads mostly on the beach so the slight lift of the Rebel is nice for sand. We test drove a Limited with the HO Hurricane and its super bougie and surprisingly fast. Definitely had a luxury vibe with that interior and all the features. No V8 rumble but that HO torque is for real.
sevenlabors@reddit
I'm out of the loop on trucks. Still have my '15 Big Horn which was a decent miss level trim then. Not any more?
_galaga_@reddit
Yeah, the Laramie is currently in that mid-level slot.
Cpt_Kneegrow@reddit
Dude the difference in quality between my 19 rebel and 21 TRX is wild. The TRX feels like my M6 did in terms of interior quality.
weirdshtlikethat@reddit
Wait until it’s a year old and the “leather” in the seat starts cracking, or the back window leaks around the edges due to the horrible design of the retaining window frame and your RF Hub gets fried, or the starter just works whenever it seemingly feels like it.
I have a 2020 model. Loved it when I got it. Still love it. Ride is great, it’s comfortable, but it definitely has issues.
Cpt_Kneegrow@reddit
The rear window leak is pretty comically bad. I had a rebel and now a TRX. Both has the leak. I fixed them both by adding window sealant. Pretty funny how bad it is.
Ram still makes the best light duty pick up truck though.
velociraptorfarmer@reddit
I had a 2022 as a rental that was 6 months old with 9k miles. The knobs for the infotainment and HVAC were already cracked and falling off.
_galaga_@reddit
It’s my gf’s truck and her 2016 had the gas tank fall out on the highway when the retaining bracket rusted to dust. Just in case you wanted something else to worry about. For her it was a bit of the devil you know in sticking with RAM.
koopa00@reddit
That is absolutely insane. I've had a driveline fall out of a car before once (actually it was a Dodge Durango lol) but I think a gas tank is a little bit worse.
realstarboy100@reddit
there's a warranty extension on on fuel tank strap brackets for a shit ton of Ram models between I think 2014-2016; the amount of people I've had yell at me about lawsuits and near-death-experiences over the issue is insane
EnormousGucci@reddit
Build quality wise I’ll admit RAM is pretty good, they just suffer from the same things every other Stellantis vehicle does: poor engineering, tech, and reliability
Pliskin_Hayter@reddit
Examples? Narrow it down. This is just overly broad regurgitation.
Like? The Uconnect system is one of, if not the best infotainment system on the market.
Most Rams prior to the Stellantis merger were 1500s with 5.7L V8s and 8 speed ZF transmissions. The same exact drivetrain found in the Charger and Challenger which are objectively extremely reliable vehicles.
Interesting_Top_9823@reddit
Uconnect is dog shit. Constantly had crashes, it forgetting my devices (android and iPhone), wouldn’t pair devices, would kill the battery due to OTA glitches. Stopped buying their garbage ass products back in 22. The Ram was the last time I spend money on them.
Terrible dealer network, terrible quality and it took months of back and forth for them to legit warranty the head unit. Back ordered-seems to be the norm for them
Pliskin_Hayter@reddit
So you got a defective unit and are upset it was back ordered. Boo fuckin hoo. Literally every company that has ever made a product has made a defective one. Its why warranties exist.
Never had a single issue with the one in my 2021 Challenger. Wish I had the same unit in my Corvette. The Uconnect is leagues better than the MyLink.
Tell me. Do you know what "anecdotal" means?
Interesting_Top_9823@reddit
No two experiences will be the same. Glad yours went well. My experiences with their products haven’t been that great.
Yes every company has their share of shit, theirs is disproportionally higher. Tell me? Do you know what opinion means?
Pliskin_Hayter@reddit
Proof?
I asked first buddy.
Interesting_Top_9823@reddit
Well its based on the results of those reliability surveys you see floating around isn't it? When your products are bottom of the barrel, you have a problem, no?
I don't much care for CR or JDP since many are pay to play - but now you can provide a definition. I'm not your buddy, friend..

Pliskin_Hayter@reddit
You mean the ones where Dodge does well in?
https://www.motorbiscuit.com/is-dodge-more-reliable-than-you-think-these-days/
Oh so you don't like the only even remotely credible surveys lmfao. How convenient. Plugging your ears and waiting for the answer you want makes you a moron, not informed.
I defend the facts. This sub is just filled with idiots like you regurgitating the same nonsense.
Funny that you say you dont like CR and JDP, yet you link both of them LMAO. Also did you even read the articles or did you just look at the graph and point like a fucking ape?
You really need to examine the data you chose to quote because there are some laughably large issues with it in the context of your argument.
Interesting_Top_9823@reddit
Your statements are not fact. They are opinion, you really need to do a better job differentiating the two. They are based on your opinion and tolerance of events. One person will tolerate poor products more so than others. Does not make it fact.
Let’s look at the list.
Jeep is bottom of the pack on the list. Dodge is number 28, Ram is non existent because they didn’t test it, but I’m sure it would be in the same space.
Chrysler is where it is because let’s face it, it has one vehicle, better hope they can get it right. They are spared by math alone, still position 16 is not something to be proud of.
Condense it to mainstream brands and shows the portfolio in a worse light.
Again their credibility is up in the air but at end of the day it’s what’s available. I’m sorry that you have to resort to rage filled responses and comparing me to an ape. A+ response there friend.
Blackpearlhax@reddit
My one experience with the overall brand was a 392 challenger and while the car was great the uconnect was absolutely dog shit worst part about the car from slow loading times and like you said forgetting phones. But it was like driving a pissed off couch. Loved it
BleepBloopRobotA@reddit
This is just due to Body on Frame pickup trucks being simple as hell compared to most other vehicles.
The Bill of Process is essentially a solved science with the only variation being the options and trim variations. Just have to make sure in-plant and supplier quality is solid and you'll make a solid truck.
Source: worked in engineering at Warren Truck on the DS Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Wagoneer

It’s a pig with lipstick. Seems to me they spend money on optics not the actual quality of said stuff. When shit breaks, it will break badly
mkmckinley@reddit
Does it have a button that makes it tailgate me right up to the obvious red light?
_galaga_@reddit
Yeah, but you have to breathe into the breathalyzer to prove your BAC is at least 2x the legal limit before that feature activates.
mkmckinley@reddit
Haha! Solid
smatchimo@reddit
I had a dream Dodge gave up and made interiors for Ford/GM and everyone was happy.
ymjcmfvaeykwxscaai@reddit
It's also just not very competitive as an EV, both price wise, and range/efficiency. It would have been a hard sell if it was a good one.
Too bad really as they are pretty cool looking in person. The fake engine noise sounds stupid in a video but is more convincing when it passes you on the road.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
i also didn’t realize how damn long they were till i saw one in person. It’s only 2” shorter than the base s-class.
koopa00@reddit
Absolutely massive, 206.6" is crazy for a coupe.
Saitoh17@reddit
American car companies seem to be trying to bring back the land yacht. That new $350k Cadillac literally looks like it's being displayed at the wrong aspect ratio.
ctzn4@reddit
Because the geniuses at Stellantis figured they'll use the exact same body for the 2-door and 4-door. So we ended up with an absurdly long coupe and a reasonably proportioned sedan.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
CONSPICUOUS CONSUMPTION
Drzhivago138@reddit
And I'm all for it
Remarkable-Corgi-463@reddit
Woah, gaht damn!
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
That was common size before 90's, wasn't it ? We just get new land yacht coupe.
RiftHunter4@reddit
This is the deal breaker for me. I'm kinda sick of driving huge vehicles. Every parking lot is an annoyance.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Could definitely do with some rear wheel steer, would aid with dynamics a bit too
ctzn4@reddit
This is Stellantis, sir. We have no idea what you mean by "technology" or "dynamics."
stav_and_nick@reddit
Yeah, it's absurdly large. It reminds me of those old American sedans where the interior was like, 1/rd of the car
Felt like a child getting into my dads car
EagleinaTailoredSuit@reddit
Were you not a child when you were riding around in your dads car? Feeling like a child while being a child is a fairly common experience.
flapsmcgee@reddit
It makes the Challenger look small and the Challenger was already a big car.
stav_and_nick@reddit
Yeah; I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I expected when I drove one. It's not really a muscle car, but it was comfortable and fast and I think it looks really good actually. That's enough for a lot of people!
But start with the new i6 for fuck sake holy shit. They already make vehicles with the hurricane in them, it's not like it's a new production item. Talk about poisoning the well
Can't wait to buy one used for $17,000 CAD in 2 years with 8000 kilometres on it
tablepennywad@reddit
The problem is the less it sells, the less there are in the used market. This usually increases the resale price rather than the opposite.
aprtur@reddit
Maybe if it was something extremely desirable or quirky in a good way where people intentionally looked for it....but it's not, it's a mass produced Stellantis product with an overinflated MSRP. They'll tank in value and stick to a level deflated price for a while.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
I imagine much like your RX-8, they'll eventually have a small, loyal following. I can see it being a cult classic when they're dirt cheap.
aprtur@reddit
With the Hurricane I could maybe see that, but I just don't see the EV doing it. I don't think I've seen a single EV not crater in pricing, unless you count the really bizarre stuff going on around the pandemic. Time will tell, but aside from the exterior design alone, this thing seems to be a bit of an Edsel moment - ironically, similar economic environment.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
Aren't Edsels a great example of a car that has a small, niche following due to being quirky?
aprtur@reddit
Didn't delineate my thought enough, I was referring to pricing. Edsels were never desirable, and never valuable, and similarly they cratered due to being a bad read on the market in a time of recession and overly expensive.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Not 17k, but these are sitting on lots and they are pricing them to sell, for the leases they’re going for i’m genuinely considering one
stav_and_nick@reddit
Unfortunately because God hates us Canada has never had the crazy EV deals that the US has. Probably because there's more demand here, two of our largest provinces are in the \~20% uptake range?
Local CDJR has one on the lot, sticker price of $108,000 (!) CAD, even with about 10 grand worth of discounts a lease is about $1000 with tax for normal milage over 4 years
The sad thing is, I think the 4 door r/T would have been REALLY popular in Canada. It was like $54,000 CAD before taxes, which put it right under the Model 3 as the cheapest EV sedan. Canadians like sedans and they like cheap, so idk why they blundered that
Eyeronick@reddit
Honestly I'd buy the shit out of a 2 door one if they had good incentives here in Canada. AWD, good looks, EV, made in Canada? Easily I'd buy one. I went to the local dealers websites, 92k for a scat pack? Fuck right off. If it was 50k for a scat pack I'd buy one today, same with the RT if it was under$40k.
ctzn4@reddit
Yeah, no way I'm paying 1000 CAD or 720 USD a month for a fkn Charger EV. Not even an EQS deserves that kind of money.
State side, I've seen at least one person post about his $0 down, $200/mo R/T lease. I'm also seeing an ad from one of my local dealers boasting $188/mo, but that one is a very low mileage 5k/yr lease. It sounds crazy but they're definitely highly motivated to move them.
DetroitLionsEh@reddit
They need to bring back the Canadian value packages they used to offer
piddydb@reddit
The thing is if you want one, you can now get one at a lot more competitive price, sometimes even going below $40k before incentives. The problem is they advertised it at starting at near $70k so a lot of people just turned off any further interest when they heard that. If they could have started sub 50k msrp, I think the whole conversation around this car would be significantly different.
Big_Flan_4492@reddit
Never understood why buy trash cars like this. It will just be a complete headache to own and the OEM wont bother supporting it because they know its a failure
stav_and_nick@reddit
Price segmentation is fucked on it; the Charger before could get up there in price, but at least there was a lot of trims between the fuck you base model and the "super duper hyper scat" model
The base r/T with all the goodies puts you at $65,000 CAD (about $46k USD). That's not crazy, especially since it will assuredly be discounted more. The scat pack with those same options? Alllllll the way up to $100,000+ CAD. And really, you're not getting a lot for all that extra money, so what's the point?
DetroitLionsEh@reddit
I think it’s just price
If it was priced normally it would be pretty damn good
MangoAtrocity@reddit
You know what? I’m moderately interested in a high displacement straight 6 charger.
Theseus-Paradox@reddit
Talk to your doctor about Stellantis
bauhausy@reddit
It’s funny because that’s the strength of the PSA side of Stellantis. Peugeot, Opel, Citroen, Vauxhall and DS pretty much share the same lineup but different flavors, trims and design language. A Peugeot 3008, for example, is mechanically identical to a Opel/Vauxhall Grandland, Citroen C5 Aircross, and DS 7.
The FCA side is an utter mess with almost entirely unique lineups in each brand: Fiat Europe has its own lineup that’s completely different from Fiat LATAM, the only shared model is the 500e. Why wasn’t the Giulia codeveloped from the beginning with Chrysler or Dodge, for a 200C/Dart replacement? Not even a fancier, non-sporty version with Lancia? Why the Compass didn’t get a fancier trim as a Chrysler CUV, and that version italianized as a Lancia? Couldn’t the Ghibli (which should’ve been an Alfa/Lancia) and the next gen 300 and Charger be co-developed? Why wasn’t the Stelvio/Grecale downgraded to a Jeep Cherokee or a Chrysler? Why the 15yo Durango didn’t got a new gen as a sportier Grand Cherokee?
Only nowadays the FCA is getting better at sharing, and still only sourcing the PCA side: Lancia finally got a new model with a reengineered Peugeot 208, Alfa Romeo got the Junior which is a reengineered 2008, Jeep got the new Compass which is a reengineered 3008, and Fiat got the Grande Panda which is a reengineered Citroen e-C3)
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
That sounds a good idea if Chrysler uses Italian RWD platform for new muscle, but this decision could make their muscle cars gotten expensive.
bauhausy@reddit
I mean, STLA Large (the platform the new Charger uses) is based on the Giorgio anyway. I don’t think it would’ve affected the price much.
The thing is that the FCA lineup is so old, that they could’ve gotten a new Giorgio-gen 300/Charger/Challenger a bit after the Giulia in ~2016-2017 (we know the plataform could’ve been scaled to their size since the new GranTurismo is also around ~200in long), and then the three Americans would get another generation around now moving to the STLA platform.
But that would need FCA to bring new generations around 7-8 years like the rest of the auto industry does, instead of 10+ years.
Drzhivago138@reddit
And even then, the US may or may not get that new Compass, even though a new compact CUV is what Jeep badly needs ATM.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Original 300 had been given up since its last facelift. The 300 never receive Hellcat trims like Dodge ones.
Current Chrysler brand is now looking like a Lincoln and Buick competitor. They're looking old people buyers, driving exciting isn't in priority for the brand.
tom_yum@reddit
It'll probably make a good cop car or taxi
WizardlyLizardy@reddit
I am in a market for a new car in this class of vehicle and it's funny that I am being made to wait to check out the one I want (500hp six pack).
RiftHunter4@reddit
Welcome to the logic Carlos Tavares, former CEO of Stellantis. This generation of Charger will likely be short.
Recoil42@reddit
Tavares didn't do this, lmao. This is all on FCA — we knew about the Charger back in 2021. Part of the reason the FCA-PSA merger even happened is because FCA needed EV expertise.
RiftHunter4@reddit
https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a63158362/stellantis-ceo-tavares-hemi-v8/
They had plenty of options after the concept was released, but Tavares tried to run everything like a European company and so they ended up with products that made no sense to American buyers. It's the same problem Kia/Hyundai had that led to poor dealer quality and a lack of immobilizers. It starts to be some obvious when these companies start ignoring specific regions.
Recoil42@reddit
You're both confusing multiple compounding issues and getting lost in bunk reporting here: The decision to nuke the Hemi is not independent the decision to move towards an EV, the decision to move towards an EV was not precipitated by Tavares or PSA, and the decisions in general to manage costs have not been optional.
The whole reason that PSA and FCA merged was that costs were out of control, and Tavares was actually famously quite skeptical of the short-term economics of EVs — it simply is not true that he was bullish on them.
AlabamaPanda777@reddit
I suspect they led with the 2-door hoping it would establish the EV Charger as a performance vehicle.
The old Charger, it had the V8, the Charger name, it was the muscle sedan in ways that kind of get undone when it becomes an EV and boomers think it's an appliance.
So you throw out the 2-door, the low seller, when they aren't buying. And wait for viral videos of EV Chargers blowing doors off at drag races because Tesla did it, right?
So then, when you announce the 4-door, it's not seen as a less muscley revision of a gas Charger, but the four door version of the exciting fast EV Charger.
Except no one gives a shit... And isn't interest in EVs going down? Perfect timing
UsedCarSalesM4n@reddit
lol no it ain’t
Quidegosumhic@reddit
Oh, I seen one of these at a dodge dealership today, they are incredibly ugly. Pictures don't do it justice.
edinburghiloveyou44@reddit (OP)
Don't do it justice with how ugly it is, bwahahhahahah!!!
Open-Struggle-153@reddit
I can guarantee that if they made this same car with a small sub 300 hp V8 and a manual transmission, it would out sell the electric. Most people don't care about / use power. It has more to do with real sound coming out of a real exhaust. Driving should be an experience with feeling and emotion. Not dead and deaf power. Stellantis will go broke on this mark my words.
Cpt_Kneegrow@reddit
The four door version looks great.
Imagine if they released a wide body 392….this would sell like crazy
Feeling-Activity-185@reddit
I don't know how much wider you can get it; this thing is almost as wide as a Ram 1500 already! 😳😳😳
dreamzzhiighly@reddit
I thought dodge announced this project was abandoned?
Feeling-Activity-185@reddit
It looks like they're phasing it out in stages
Drzhivago138@reddit
One thing I'm not seeing mentioned anywhere: Is this actually a sedan, with a fixed rear window and a trunk lid, or is it a liftback like the 2-door model? Because there aren't any pictures of the rear cargo area.
Feeling-Activity-185@reddit
The sedan is also a liftback. There's a video on YouTube that shows a blue Charger driving on the backroads through the meadows, in addition to showcasing its interior and cargo space. I forgot what the title was, but if you type "2025 dodge charger sedan", that video should be one of the first results to pop up.
Bicycle_Dude_555@reddit
Does Stellantis know that Dodge makes big heavy cars with pushrod V-8's? That's the business. It makes menacing cars for people that want to project menacing personas.
Cake-Over@reddit
If I squint my eyes just right I can see a tiny bit of the 1999 Charger concept in the beltline from the A pillar to the rear.
Sesspool@reddit
Fake engine noise through speakers and pipes. Lol just god no. Whats next jump in a prius and play a recording of a lambo on the nurburgring while dring to work?

Sesspool@reddit
As you comically slow lol
titoscoachspeecher@reddit
Its more fun to fast in a slow car then slow in a fast car.
Sesspool@reddit
Ummm i dont think i get it.
Id rather do a 10sec quarter mile than a 16 sec.
I mean 35 is 35. Just because you are holdng first in your miata doesnt mean your going fast in a slow car..........
titoscoachspeecher@reddit
35mph for the slow car that is 'fast'.
The point of it is, you can't drive a 10 second car to 9/10ths without serious trouble lurking around the corner.
Driving a 35mph car that's capable of 10 seconds isn't nearly as enjoyable as the car that's already 1/3 of it's top speed.
Miata is a prime example of what driving a slow car fast and enjoying it thoroughly.
Of course the high horsepower car is fun, but to fully enjoy it you need to be in a safe and/or legal spot. In a Miata you can bean it nonstop and possibly get a warning from a cop while still smiling ear to ear.
I_dont_exist_yet@reddit
You say that like it's not been a thing for years. Most people aren't even aware.
Sesspool@reddit
Yeah i know and every time i hear about it i laugh. People are fake and happy to buy fake things.
happy--muffin@reddit
It’s a good thing IMO, if you want to “hear” your car that’s how you can hear it without being a jackass and causing noise pollution. Chargers with muffler deletes are the equivalent of hikers with big Bluetooth speakers. Daily commute to work is stressful enough as is, we don’t need to be driving next to an obnoxiously loud car while sitting on the 405.
Sesspool@reddit
Its really not.
Hearing the cars natural sounds more freely is not even close to someone who blasts music on a hiking tail. In fact having your car noises go through a speak you actually can crank is literally the same thing.
It woulda been one thing for you to say "like that guy who starts his desiel truck up at 6am" but you said highway like what?! A public non residential road....i cant with people.
DetroitLionsEh@reddit
Yeah, even the C8 Z06 has fake engine noise piped in.
blackbug12@reddit
So 670hp from a 100kwh battery just to have less range and just about the same performance as the Tesla Model 3 performance that is cheaper yet smaller. Yeah, just release the ICE version already.
elementfx2000@reddit
The main reason for the range reduction has gotta be due to how heavy the Daytona EV is; about 5,700 lbs vs. a Model 3 Performance at like 4,000 lbs.
CumAssault@reddit
Dodge always delivers over bloated boats. That’s what they excel at. Somehow they do a great job at making their cars not feeling that heavy, but imagine how good they’d drive if they could just start with less weight
Titan0917@reddit
This is also much much larger than a Model 3, it’s even larger than a Model S. The Charger and Challenger have been full sized cars since their return.
The new Charger is about the same size as the Mercedes EQS which is the same weight.
AdventurousDress576@reddit
Also half a metre longer than the Model 3. Bigger than the Model S, in fact.

Carlos Tavares was a total moron who tried to force his idiotic agenda on a market that wanted none of it. He’s out now, THANK GOD, but we’ll have to deal with his stupidity for a little while as things get sorted out.
Supposedly the Hemi fits in the Charger Daytona chassis… and I absolutely love the idea that Dodge engineers knew the Stellantis CEO was such an idiot and they designed the car on the low to fit the engine they knew it would inevitably need to succeed. We’ll see lol

I like the idea of the 500hp hurricane. ZF8, AWD, twin turbo 6.....
Wait isn't that an Alfa Romeo Giulia?
Still I like the idea of it I might test drive it.
BTTWchungus@reddit
The Hurricane I6 is already a freight train in the RAM 1500. The Hurricane Charger legitimately has a chance to annihilate S58 cars
earlyiteration@reddit
My neighbor got one the coupe version and I honestly dig the design.
Dazzling-Rooster2103@reddit
The design is fantastic.
Everything else though...
earlyiteration@reddit
I see a slim chance of them stuffing a V8 in there if these stupid regulations don’t get in the way.
BTTWchungus@reddit
Guaranteed they engineered the chassis to be able to fit the Hemi just in case (like how they bluffed with the Wrangler)
Charles0nline@reddit
I think the strict regulations were wildly unpopular. I totally see there being a supercharged hemi version of this car. I’m not sure there will be a NA V8 version.
bankruptoptions69@reddit
I own a scat pack EV and based on the digging around I've done under the frunk, I'm not sure it can fit a V8, the shock towers are really pushed in and the space between them is slim.
Charles0nline@reddit
That’s why I think there will just be a supercharged version. A very expensive top trim to try and make up for the R&D of getting the V8 to fit.
flapsmcgee@reddit
I thought that was practically confirmed at this point
earlyiteration@reddit
I heard that the hurricane engines were confirmed, not the hemis unless I’m not up to date on it.
J_NonServiam@reddit
I think the rumor was that the V8 "suspiciously fits" but nothing confirmed about them actually offering a hemi/hellcat version.
flapsmcgee@reddit
I think it's still technically a rumor for the V8s but it seems pretty solid
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a64272920/report-stellantis-restart-hemi-v-8-engine-production/
What_the_8@reddit
Exactly, I haven’t heard anyone question the looks, it’s mainly the pricetag and the other options you have at that price range. I still don’t understand who this car was made for.
DJMagicHandz@reddit
The design is heavenly but the innards are rotten from the factory.
EnormousGucci@reddit
I like the design with four doors, I wouldn’t rule out getting a lease on one if the offers get dirt cheap, I think I saw a bunch of them for $30k off msrp already.
DetroitLionsEh@reddit
I’m legitimately considering the I6 coup when it’s released.
But knowing how current Dodge seems to be, it will be crazy overpriced compared to its competitors.
earlyiteration@reddit
They’re severely overpriced and dealerships have discounted them heavily for purchase AND for lease.
WizardlyLizardy@reddit
Ya that is what I want to see.
If it is hugely discounted i'll consider it for sure.

hirs0009@reddit
It looks like it was designed in 2006, very stale and boring looking
Key_Budget9267@reddit
I smell new police fleet models incoming. I hope so at least, it wouldn't quite be the same with only Explorers.
Ambereggyolks@reddit
I don't get how stallantis stays afloat in the US. Outside of jeep and ram, they don't make any cars people want. There doesn't seem to be anything redeeming about their vehicles either, most have been rotting on the vine for years now too. The charger and challenger were milked for years and they did a good job with them but that generation is gone now.
They seem capable of making an interesting car but I have never heard a good thing about their reliability or build quality. Do the French and Italian cars have a bad reputation in Europe? If not, how are they so much worse here?
Educational_Age_1333@reddit
Wheres the six pack? No one cares about the EV version.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Where the Hemi ? No one cares about six pack neither.
slow_cars_fast@reddit
Huh. I don't hate it.
Verix99@reddit
Considering how expensive a normal Challenger is to tax and run in my European country, this EV version kind of makes sense, since EV’s aren’t taxed as much. You get the look of an American muscle car without breaking the bank. For reference, one of the few Challengers for sale I found is a 2010 challenger which costs $85k with 60k miles on it.
Brno_Mrmi@reddit
It looks really fucking cool. Love the old Dodge logo making a comeback
BTTWchungus@reddit
It ain't a Dodge without the crosshair grille, and I'll die on that hill
Drzhivago138@reddit
Didn't they only start using the crosshair grille along with Plymouth in the '80s?
Treso44@reddit
The proportions are much better on the 4 door
Drzhivago138@reddit
Interesting, considering the 2- and 4-door have the same length and same silhouette.
DustyTurboTurtle@reddit
It's like they're trying to go bankrupt
the_house_from_up@reddit
I wonder how long it will be before they are selling them for $20k under MSRP.
HundleyC09@reddit
Would it kill any of these companies to make an affordable car?
Zero_Lps@reddit
Wtf is that, dodge doesn't understand their market anymore by the way this looks
albertgt40@reddit
Just kill dodge and Chrysler already. Jeep and ram can stay.
bakedbread3@reddit
What was the point of them making the preportions so weird on the coupe? I thought they made the roofline so long on the coupe so they didn't have to make a sedan
ddaw735@reddit
Id buy this with the hurricane i6.
Budget-Razzmatazz-54@reddit
I would too. Assuming it isn't going to be $60k plus. Which I'm sure it will.
Anonymous_Dwarf@reddit
if the base is 40-46 but with a good discount it will sell. Kind of like Chargers and Challengers before they announced they were going away, they've held their price well.
cubs223425@reddit
I'd at least consider it. However, I'm not interested in beta testing a new product for Stellantis. I'd buy it a couple of years into production, once they were proven to not do something like Nissan did with the launch of the new Z.
ddaw735@reddit
Knowing dodge this platform will be around for 20 years lol
hochoa94@reddit
Hurricane i6 with AWD is a dream now if only it came in manual 🤤
WizardlyLizardy@reddit
It's basically an alfa giulia q but with a straight six, that didn't have a manual either. Probably even has the same ZF8.
simeddit@reddit
100%
I had a chance to talk to someone working for Stellantis and he echoed all of these same thoughts. What a management shit show.
Left4DayZGone@reddit
They don’t understand the market appeal of their own products. People who buy chargers and challengers buy them because they are modern muscle cars, and yes, part of the muscle car experience is the noise and thrashiness.
cubs223425@reddit
Oh, I thought this was going to be a bout rolling out the ICE variant...damn.
mr_snufflefluff@reddit
I got excited for a second seeing the thumbnail thinking this might be the 4 door mustang and then got realllllll disappointed when I read the headline...
What_the_8@reddit
Fuck the market research, we’ll tell them what they want! Stellantis exec, probably.
AnonymousMolaMola@reddit
Is this right after they discontinued that Charger coupe because people wouldn’t buy them even with $20k discounts?
StraightStackin@reddit
Who the hell is greenlighting electric muscle cars? 🤣
zoned_off@reddit
The line between the back door and the back quarter panel is so small. Kind of baffling they even bothered making the 2 door. If they put the rear handle hidden next to the window like the new Prius, it would almost look like a 2 door anyway.
BTTWchungus@reddit
If they wanted to stand out, suicide doors would've worked wonders here
PreacherSquat@reddit
looks pretty good. not sure if it'll help but i hope they have better anti theft systems. aren't these things notorious for being stolen all the time?
perennialpurist@reddit
This looks marginally better than the 2-door version, which just looks like a knockoff GTA version of a real life car. But still a big downgrade from how the previous gen looked. But anyway, way too big and heavy and not enough performance/range for an EV. I mean why buy this over a Model 3 performance or Kia EV6 GT?
RattyRatson@reddit
Finally?
SHHHeng@reddit
It looks good.
I might consider to lease one if the price drops like two doors version.
jdmb0y@reddit
Looks way less awkward than the coupe
Truck_Dog_SmokedMeat@reddit
EVs in general are so lame
jstilla@reddit
They knew this thing was doomed from the start.
Went to the medium auction and Dodge was a lead sponsor. Had a test area where drivers would take to drifting in a Hellcat.
Not a single one of these cars was in sight. Anywhere. Not even in print.
And it was a couple weeks away from hitting show rooms.
ByCromThatsAHotTake@reddit
These would be a hit if they were $20k+ less
wrenchandrepeat@reddit
I honestly don't understand why Dodge didn't go with this design from the beginning when they revived the Charger in the 00s. Only think I can think of is they didn't want to compete against themselves with the Challenger.
koopa00@reddit
The car is enormous and to me just looks way better with 4 doors. Not that it's an ugly two door, it looks good in either form. Even the interior is nice on these things and I love that it's a hatchback.
They need to get that i6 version out there, really interested to see what the pricing ends up being on that because the EV pricing is absolutely insane. That's all but confirmed when you look at how cheap people have been able to lease them, Stellantis is giving them away (when their shitty dealers actually cooperate) and still struggling to move them. People are leasing $80K scat packs for $200/mth. I don't care what reviewers says about the car, it's a steal at that price.
quattrophile@reddit
I'd love to get the 2 door EV version at some point. Zero interest in more doors or the gas version.
Vhozite@reddit
That’s a whole lotta article just to say their releasing the 4 door version that is essentially identical to the coupe besides the doors
Kidz4Carz@reddit
I have only seen one new Charger. It was on a rollback I passed on the interstate.
Cranjesmcbasketball1@reddit
I love how it looks and the speed, hate the range and reliability concerns. The latter 2 are big enough concerns for me to say no.
