If my only dream car is something in the 75-100k range, am I limiting myself?

I get that there will always be faster, more expensive cars out there—but honestly, I’ve never been into hypercars. They just don’t do it for me visually. My ultimate dream car has always been an R8, and realistically, right now I’m aiming for a G80 M3 or M4. I know some people won’t agree, but I’ve never liked how Porsches look—they just don’t match my taste. I’m drawn to bold, aggressive lines and cars with real presence and attitude. I know it might sound unconventional to some, but does it really mean I’m limiting myself just because I prefer something that actually excites me, even if it’s not the most expensive option out there?

You're being realistic is what I'd call you, not limiting. In reality a majority of people wont make over a million dollars to afford Lambos and Ferraris.
I myself have an lc500, and honestly, thats enough for me. Would I mind more? No, course not. But its also reality of what I can get and what I want. Nice NA V8, great touring car, comfortable, and sporty when I want it to be. Catches eyes but isnt too cop catchy.

The Lc500 is absolutely gorgeous…I’d be really scared to have one here in the city with weirdos around :(

I went sub $40k and got a WRX and I’m happy with it. All I really need for the weekends

No, those are awesome dream cars.
And you’d have to spend exponentially more to beat them with very little difference, and these are arguably better in some regards. Another option around those, an i8. Supercar looks and style, and very very fun to drive.

No this is silly. Dream whatever car you dream of? You don’t have to lust after the most expensive shit out there and no one is thinking or saying otherwise. Tons of people dream of much cheaper stuff than your stated cars. Get out of your own head

In the nicest way possible this is one if the silliest things I've heard and I think you're overthinking it. My dream cars are all fairly affordable and I own a couple of them. Ask most car guys and I think they'd choose an E30 over a G wagon any day of the week even though a g wagon is so much more expensive.
More expensive doesn't equal more better

Was trying to figure out how to say this.
Seriously, who the hell cares what you have as a dream car. If anything, having a more affordable/attainable dream car means you’re more likely to achieve your dreams.
Seriously though, the idea of “limiting myself” is, as you said, silliness - more specifically, it’s not even a real thing.

There's only one way to find out. When you own your dream car, but it doesn't really scratch that itch, then you'll know.
jrileyy229@reddit
I don't really understand the premise... Some imaginary person is judging you for wanting an m3 and you're embarrassed by it?
Many kids grew up 20 years ago dreaming about a Corvette z06, not a Bugatti Veyron... Now those kids are buying that Corvette.

I’ve owned my dream car twice. The last one I sold for $9k. There’s a difference between a dream car and a poster car.

My dream car is one that starts regularly and without a ton of bells and whistles.

My dream car is an early ‘90s RX7. Still kicking myself for not buying one when I had the chance. Now they’re overpriced all to hell and I’ll prob never buy one.
broketoliving@reddit
just buy the best daily you can, you have more fun daily than some toy in the garage. and a track car
eyi526@reddit
You like what you like. Buy it for YOU.
galets@reddit
I agree. Also, something to consider is that priorities change. Today you want something to show off, tomorrow you have wife, kids, mortgage, medical bills, and all you need is something that gets you from A to B without too much drama
ApoTHICCary@reddit
That’s fair.
But it also sounds like you’re 2 zeros short and might change your mind to a Veneno as your dream car.
burndmymouth@reddit
Who are you trying to impress?
Hersbird@reddit
Mine is $6 million. They only made 2 of them 55 years ago. Am I limiting myself?
negitoro7@reddit
My dream cars were always Porsche (Boxster Spyder, Carrera T, Targa GTS) and never anything above them into supercar realm. But “realistically”, my dream car is the Z4 M40i as I age (comfy GT roadster) and also realize I can’t afford the Porsches that I want. So I’m thinking about the $50k to $70k market too (used).

There is a great vin wiki story about how every car has a bell curve for its value, if you notice the depreciation leveling out buy one. After that every one will be wanting one.
NarniaMouse@reddit
Your dream car is your dream car.
If you wanted a 1980s Fiat x19 that's only worth $5k, that's still your dream car. Get what makes you happy.
But if you keep worrying that it's not expensive enough, that's a whole different issue entirely. That's less about your dream car, and more about you wanting to flaunt your purchase.
