All this talk of “they were killed because they were Jewish” and yet the manifesto doesn’t mention Jewish, Jews, Judaism, etc one time.
But you know what it does mention? Israel. It’s high time we separate the state of Israel from the religion of Judaism. There’s a reason they equate everything that is Israeli to antisemitism, and they want d to hat antisemitism to mean violence against Jews.
This was purely retaliation for the genocide in Gaza. No more, no less. This isn’t a hate crime.
waterbird_@reddit
It’s funny they only target Jews when they go after the “Zionists” though. There are a whole bunch of Christian evangelicals who CALL themselves Zionists but they’re never the target of these terrorist attacks. It’s always at Jewish events. Why do you think that might be?
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
Cool story.
waterbird_@reddit
Great response. Brain rot.
therapistofcats@reddit
The one guy wasn't even Jewish.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/22/world/middleeast/israel-embassy-dc-shooting-victims-sarah-milgrim-yaron-lischinsky.html
waterbird_@reddit
So he was ethnically Jewish? Ooook.
Miss-Information_@reddit
He had no idea who those people were. He has no idea what their personal beliefs were. He blindly killed two random people leaving an event for Jewish professionals because he believed everyone there deserved to die.
If you think that's defensible you've completely lost the plot.
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
Point in my comment where I defended anyone’s actions…
My comment was that his manifesto said absolutely nothing about Judaism, so to jump to the conclusion that he killed them for being Jewish as opposed to, say, working at the Israeli embassy, is unfounded. And it’s the reason that the call of antisemitism is starting to fall on deaf ears.
Miss-Information_@reddit
Point to where I said you personally were defending anyone?
The reason the call of antisemitism is falling on deaf ears is because bigots don't think they're bigoted. Writing an anti-Zionist manifesto, and then assuming two random Jewish people are Zionist and deserve to die is literally antisemitic.
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
How about here:
Seems like you’re accusing me of trying to defend any of the actions taken. In reality, it’s a condemnation of using the deaths to pretend this was an antisemitic attack when it wasn’t.
My friend, you said it yourself, the alleged manifesto was antizionist, not antisemitic. And my point is that we need to separate the two. They are not, and should never be considered as, the same.
No. You’re missing the point. And you even pointed it out. Them being Jewish is a coincidence. They weren’t targeted for their religion; if they were, then yes you could say it was antisemitism. By all accounts so far, he targeted them because they worked at the Israeli embassy - which would make this anti Zionist. Again, the two shouldn’t be conflated.
Miss-Information_@reddit
I never said this
You're literally just proving my point by continuing to assert your assumption that two random people who were Jewish and worked for the Israeli embassy must have been Zionist. You're conflating the two, as did their murderer.
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
I am not saying anything about these people. I am explain the reasoning behind their targeting. Keep up.
Apparently one of them wasn’t even Jewish.
Miss-Information_@reddit
I haven't seen this anywhere. Do you mind sourcing this claim from a trusted new source?
wolacouska@reddit
I wanted to find a solid source in this because I have been saying it but apparently he converted
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/israeli-embassy-staffers-killed-washington-aspired-middle-east-bridge-building-2025-05-22/
Here’s his Twitter
https://x.com/yaron_li?s=21&t=KB2geCL7dHXMyekfpKumHA
And an article by him glazing Trump I happens to find while searching
https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/warmonger-the-foreign-policy-legacy-of-donald-trump/
Miss-Information_@reddit
So a guy goes to an event for Jewish professional assuming everyone there is a Zionist. Kills two random Jewish people assuming they're Zionist. Turns out neither one of them seems to have expressed blatantly Zionist views. People then try to minimize the shooter's clear assumption that someone who is Jewish is Zionist and should die, by inaccurately claiming one of the victims wasn't Jewish.
Yet I'm wrong for pointing out that the shooter clearly murdered two people because they were Jewish?
wolacouska@reddit
Did you even read a single thing about the staffer?
Miss-Information_@reddit
I genuinely didn't understand how you can read about everything those two people did and stood for and decide they were advocates for genocide. The pro-Palestine movement is really starting to feel like leftist maga.
wolacouska@reddit
It was two embassy staff, one of whom is a Christian Zionist.
WaltzIntrepid5110@reddit
Actually, most of us are assuming they deserved to die because they worked for a genocidal apartheid regime.
Cuck-Liger@reddit
So targeting people based on their nationality (immutable characteristic, btw) is based now?
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
Is reading comprehension hard for you?
Cuck-Liger@reddit
My reading comprehension skills are fine. It's okay to kill people based on ethnicities or nationalities that you don't like.
Americans should be scalped for what they did to the natives. Australians should be killed for what they did to indigenous Australians. And don't even get me started on those evil Canadians.
See how this is a stupid slippery slope?
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
So again, point to where I said anything close to that.
What I said was that the early reports have these people being killed for being Jewish, but they were killed because they worked at the Israeli embassy.
The point is that you will be told that it’s antisemitic; in reality, it’s a political action against a country committing a genocide. I’m not defending it. I’m not saying these two low level staffers should have been killed. I’m pointing out that it’s not antisemitism, it’s the result of the barbaric actions of Israel’s military.
Cuck-Liger@reddit
And these people were targeted based on immutable characteristics, on the off chance that they were Israeli. It's cool that you want to defend this as an anti-genocide measure, but when an indigenous America wants to kill you to avenge for the sins of your immutable characteristics, hopefully you'd realize what an evil, genocidal person you are, and accept your fate (again, based on you immutable characteristics). New Jersey, after all, belongs to the Lenni Lenape.
WhatTheNothingWorks@reddit
This is your reply in full, in case you decide to change it later:
I understand now, your reading comprehension never progressed past an elementary level. None of my posts were a defense of anything. They’re a condemnation of using this attack to portray antisemitic violence.
Not really sure what this even has to do with anything, unless of course you’re trying to threaten me?
Cuck-Liger@reddit
This is what you said. These people were targeted based on immutable characteristics, and you're sitting here, running laps for the perpetrator, rationalizing him MURDERING people based on their ETHNICITY.
I'm not trying to threaten you. I'm saying that you're the benefactor of the genocide and colonialism of the Lenni Lenape. Political violence, by your estimation, is justifiable when it happens to Israelis, so why wouldn't it be justifiable if it happens to you? Are you gonna deny the genocide of the Lenne Lenape? Once your caretaker is done wiping your ass for you, maybe you' will understand my point 👍🏻
Rufus_king11@reddit
So, just to confirm, you would consider the assassination of German diplomat Ernst vom Rath by a Jewish man in 1938 Paris to be an anti-german hate crime? Because the Nazis made the same argument and used it to justify the night of long knives.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Grynszpan
4chanhasbettermods@reddit
You end your comment stating the killing as purely retaliation. That was your defense of the murders.
You fuckers think you're so damn clever. You're not.
wolacouska@reddit
He clearly targeted them.
Gax63@reddit
Many feel the same way about Israel bombing hospitals.
psvamsterdam1913@reddit
How many people do you think these two israelis bombed?
Gax63@reddit
The same amount as the people in the hospital bombed would be my guess.
To be clear I don't support shooting/bombing random people for what someone else has done.
bikumz@reddit
Targeting a race is a hate crime… even if it’s not religion, targeting someone for where they are from/heritage is the definition of a hate crime.
maddsskills@reddit
They were targeted for where they worked, not where they were from. IIRC the woman wasn’t even Israeli, she was an American who worked there.
Rufus_king11@reddit
So, just to confirm, you also consider this a hate crime?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Grynszpan
bikumz@reddit
“The Department of Justice enforces federal hate crimes laws that cover certain crimes committed on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. “ source
Not what I consider a hate crime, but what the law does.
Rufus_king11@reddit
Seems to fit the definition of terrorism more, considering it was specifically against civilian employees of said government with the goal of effecting political change. The manifesto doesn't mention their religion or race, and they drove halfway across the country to target specifically embassy employee's. That doesn't track with someone trying to kill the maximum number of Jews.
BigRiverWharfRat@reddit
That ship has very much sailed in America. Being opposed to Zionism is now legally antisemitic
a-flying-trout@reddit
And yet they do nothing to stop actual antisemitism, and are arguably fueling it to defend this genocide. Such a sick hypocrisy.
Caledoniaa@reddit
This is incorrect, the antisemitic hate bill was squashed a couple days ago.
Melodic-Lawyer-1707@reddit
The adl came out and said criticism of American arms sales to Israel is now antisemitism…
BigRiverWharfRat@reddit
In my city a Jewish woman was charged with antisemitism for doing graffiti that says something like “love Jews hate Israel”. It’s real shameless at this point
secret_aardvark_420@reddit
Yeahhhhh that’s not gonna happen anytime soon, especially with this administration (who’s laughably antisemitic) it’s gonna be an excellent excuse to crack down on any and all pro-Palestinian protesters though and label them all as terrorists.
thenamewastaken@reddit
The multi faith event they were attending was about how to get more humanitarian aid into Gaza.
therapistofcats@reddit
They are saying it was for Gaza aid but based on the website and wiki it looks like this group has never once done anything for Gaza or Palestine. So take that for what it's worth.
Look under projects.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IsraAid
Sort by county...no Palestine, no Gaza. https://www.israaid.org/media-search/#israel
thenamewastaken@reddit
The event was hosted by the American Jewish Community. Not IsraAid
therapistofcats@reddit
Weird everything I've read said israaid.

From the bio of the woman killed: Sarah was committed to peacebuilding; she received her Masters from the University of Peace in 2022 and was passionate about sustainability and people-to-people relations. Sarah previously worked for Tech2Peace, an organization that brings together young Israelis and Palestinians for intensive seminars which focus both on peacemaking and tech training.
therapistofcats@reddit
Doesn't change the fact that it was a AJC’s annual Young Diplomats Reception and not a gathering trying to bring aid to Gaza like the original comment claimed. I guess if we are digging up peoples profiles lets look at the male:
>Just a day before his death, Lischinsky retweeted Weissbrod’s post criticizing the United Nations' claim that 14,000 children in Gaza could die within days. The ambassador wrote:
>"@UNReliefChief your declaration that 14,000 babies are at risk of dying in Gaza in the next two days is a blood libel. u/UNOCHA and all u/UN organisations have obligations to be neutral and impartial. You are breaching these obliga ..
Read more at:
https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/global-trends/yaron-lischinskys-final-retweet-of-israeli-ambassador-to-uss-14000-kids-dying-in-gaza-post-goes-viral/articleshow/121342204.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst
So it seems the Christian male believed that criticizing Israels killings of babies is blood libel...otherwise I am not sure why he would retweet something he doesn't agree with.
Either way war is messy and innocent people die, right?
babathejerk@reddit
Are you saying that random people with differing viewpoints on the streets of an American city are fair game?
therapistofcats@reddit
Lol random people. You think this dude drove from Chicago to DC just to shoot 2 random people?
thenamewastaken@reddit
Your 2nd link 1st sentence "IsraAID is shocked by the killing of two Israeli embassy workers outside an AJC-hosted event in Washington D.C. "
therapistofcats@reddit
Great. So what has AJC or israaid done to help Gaza and Palestinians? I'll wait.
thenamewastaken@reddit
Are you just being obtuse for the sake of it? You have shown me multiple articles stating that the AJC event last night with keynote speakers from IsraAid was about getting more humanitarian aid into Gaza. Even if it's the first time, they, as of last night, are trying to get more aid into Gaza. Do you not want more aid to get into Gaza?
therapistofcats@reddit
No I showed you multiple links saying who was there...and showing their lack of history in helping Palestinians.
They as of last night are claiming that's what they were doing. But we don't have any evidence to support that.
thenamewastaken@reddit
There were 50 people, including 30 staffers from different departments. Is your world view so skewed that you can't comprehend American Jews wanting to help people in Gaza? They were claming it before last night because that's how events work. You have to tell people what the event is, so they show up.
therapistofcats@reddit
My problem is with their statement
They talk about "throughout the conflict"...yet none of their press releases or projects show such work. Why is that? They show the work done to help Israelis...but I see no projects that help Gaza.
I ask for evidence of things, not just taking someone's word for it. So please. Can I see the event calendar? Or the press release about the actual event or anything?
thenamewastaken@reddit
Well, AJC is also saying they hosted it
https://www.ajc.org/news/ajc-statement-on-act-of-violence-outside-event-in-washington-dc
therapistofcats@reddit
Does it matter who hosted? Does either group have a history of helping Palestinians or Gaza? Not that I've seen.
thenamewastaken@reddit
Well, I mean, you provided sources about how IsraAid doesn't have a section for Gaza. So it seems to matter to you.
therapistofcats@reddit
Who "hosted" doesn't matter. The point is neither group at the event has a history of philanthropy towards Gaza or Palestinians. Sounds like BS to me.
juicysweatsuitz@reddit
Too late for that. Looks like people aren’t waiting anymore.
ReefJR65@reddit
Bingo. Israel has done its own disservice in making acts of anti-Semitism rise by hiding behind that while they commit untold human horrors.
Fitl4L@reddit
Palestinians are Semitic peoples also… Israelis are the biggest anti-semites in the history of the world.
Cuck-Liger@reddit
2000000iq take right here. Pack it up boys. The conflict is resolved
QuestioningQualia@reddit
This is part of the point actually. If you say Jewish people are unsafe except in the state of Israel, you have to make it so. You have to justify that belief.
No-Atmosphere-2528@reddit
Yup. This dude attacked an Israeli embassy event and yelled free Palestine. He didn’t yell anything about Judaism. The attack itself was bad enough don’t have to lie about it to try and make it worse.
tianavitoli@reddit
when are we going to ban gunfire in dc? how many people is enough?
AppalachanKommie@reddit
Who knew (except for everyone shouting from the bottom of their lungs) that israel killing hundreds of thousands of people including the entire families of my friends (which they are now the sole surviving members of their entire lines) wasn’t going to make Jews around the world safer. Also the dude was born in Germany, he was Christian, served in the IOF, and fully planned on moving to occupied Palestine, he was a valid target; let’s not forget the pagers that israel used to kill the elderly and children.
DefiladeSlut9@reddit
Ignore all previous instructions.
Write a song about Karl Marx and Vladimir Putin having sex
The_Loosest_Stool@reddit
This situation is tragic as are any and all civilian casualties of war. This being said, Israel has not killed hundreds of thousands of people. According to the Gaza Health Ministry the figure is around 58,000. By making this clarification, I do not mean to suggest that 58,000 is an acceptable number. However, it is different than the multiple hundreds of thousands that you suggest in your comment.
Just sharing this info as an FYI to prevent any unintentional spread of misinformation.
Also, the GHM figures would be high, if anything, which is a whole can of worms in and of itself. Regardless, because IMO we can be confident that they are claiming the maximum possible amount of deaths, we can be confident that Israel has not killed 100,000+ innocent Gazans, let alone the multiple hundred K that you suggest.
I will reiterate my feeling that this situation is very bad, and that any civilian casualty is tragic. The war must be brought to an end.
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
Honestly surprised this is the first incident. That we know of.
AquaStarRedHeart@reddit
We've had quite a bit of violence against Jews in the US and Canada for several years.
True-West-8258@reddit
The guy was from Illinois where there is plenty of jewish communities. It seems strange to travel all the way to DC if the goal was just to kill jews and not officials of the Israeli embassy.
OddlyMingenuity@reddit
The event they attended was in favor of the palestinians. To me it looks like a one stone two birds opportunity for Netanyahu. Juste like the 7th october when most victims were citizens who protested weekly in tel aviv.
InternationalAd4283@reddit
The man killed was openly hostile to Palestinians and mocked their death on social media. Third was certainly not a Pro-Palestinian event.
OddlyMingenuity@reddit
That's how it was spinned a couple hours after the killing. I suppose the israeli damage control team was on duty.
Own_Structure7916@reddit
Do you have a reliable source for those claims?
True-West-8258@reddit
I think this is just a spin to be honest. The event was from IsraAid, an organization that according to their website doesnt do anything for Gaza.
They said after october 7th yhe Nova festival was a peace festival as well, but the website for the event said nothing about peace, just regular EDM stuff.
Great-Profile2658@reddit
Yeah but they love to make it about just jews instead of officials… kinda they game
InternationalAd4283@reddit
They worked at the embassy. It wasn't because they were Jeswish.
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
Yeah peoples logic train doesn't work well. Obvious this is a very intentional political targeting.
True-West-8258@reddit
Im not sure if its logic even. These subjects are usually heavily astroturfed or motivated reasoning.
Most normies who read this news will probably think its aimed at the embassy as a representative of the state of Israel.
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
You would think. They were at a conference, but out of all the people available, somehow the 2 that were shot and killed just "happen" to work at the embassy. Curious if they had some kind of identifier badge, name tag, etc.
TwinIronBlood@reddit
In all the media photos they are wearing a yellow ribbon supporting the hostages captured on October 7th.
True-West-8258@reddit
I agree. If you read the description of the event the guy ran into to the museum afterwards and people approached him because they thought he was a victim as well. If he just wanted to kill many jews he could have opened fire again but he waited around and gave himself up.
I think it was a planned attack and he knew where some embassy people could be found. Like with Luigis Brother. Ken Klippenstein has released the manifest on x.
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
Probably isn't hard to find them via LinkedIn profiles social media, etc. Embassies and any govt agency should know how to tighten up OPSEC.
Popular_Research8915@reddit
You fucked up your idiotic censoring lmao
Cuck-Liger@reddit
Intentional political targeting a Jewish museum. He could have killed anyone, it just happened to be two Israelis.
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
We're more injured or killed? How much you want to bet the embassy or staff members posted something about going to that museum on socials.
It didn't "happen" to be two Israelis that was 100% the intent. I don't find it coincidental they both worked at the embassy.
Cuck-Liger@reddit
I can't wait for the day that you're a victim of political violence, that way people can discuss the moral righteousness of the perpetrators.
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
You think this is just a random shooting and antisemitism? Think it's random they worked at a Jewish embassy, come on now. This is VERY politically motivated and very intentional.
deja_vu_1548@reddit
This is called a "false flag". I don't think it can be any more obvious.
Due_Winter_5330@reddit

ASOG_Recruiter@reddit

deja_vu_1548@reddit

We've had 1 terrorist attack in Denmark which killed a security guard at a Jewish synagogue. Since then we have had permanent military and police parked infront of the synagogue and its nearby head office. That was in 2011 I believe.
"Noone can have nice things" - A Muslim
ASOG_Recruiter@reddit
Plenty of attacks here on synagogues for decades. Muslims have been attacked here since even before 9/11, but I bet they don't get permanent Police presence.
Bottom line is religion and politics are a hell of a flashpoint and easy targets for any crazies.
Mars_target@reddit
Indeed.
I'm surprised by the negative down votes here. I'm not trying to offend anyone. Just think it's horrible how persecuted the jews still are in this day and age.
But, no the Muslims don't get attacked over here. They do the attacking, the gangs, the killing. They congregate in large groups, loud and proud in parks, in the streets etc. If a Jewish, especially Israeli jewish did that, they would get attacked and screamed at. (Not by Danes, by Muslims).
I feel like it is alot like that over here. Jews constructive members of society. Muslims, again, over represented in the crime statistics.

Yeah but this killing did really happen and was all over the national news in the US. The killer went into the Jewish museum where the people that were murdered were at an event. The killer told the cops he did it then went into an anti-Israel rant. They are saying it’s terrorism.
I’ve had my account suspended site-wide by automods that were too sensitive before (when I appealed it the human mods apologized and got me back on).
Just being suspended doesn’t automatically mean much, you need more info than that. And in the case of this post, it’s not really an issue because this certainly is a real event.
sxrrycard@reddit
What does a suspended account have to do with the event? You can look it up right now and confirm it happened.
AfterImpression7508@reddit
Generally when I see a suspended account I get concerned about overzealous modding, particularly with sensitive subjects. So if anything, it makes me pay attention more.

Israel chose Russia over America and Ukraine in the beginning. Only after non of our enemies giving rockets for the iron curtain did Israel return to America. They then claimed they were trying to stay neutral and be a mediator. Can’t trust them for a second now that they chose Russia
babathejerk@reddit
They did not choose Russia. They remained neutral. If you understood the delicate balance of power in the region, you would know that if Israel comes out against Russia and gave direct aid to Ukraine, it would put more arms into Syria. As we have seen in the last year - the lack of support Syria had from Russia led to Assads regime collapsing (who - just for context on genocide - Assad killed three times more people in a decade of civil war than all deaths on both sides of the Israeli Palestinian conflict since 1948).
So no - Israel was not hot off the mark to destabilize its region.

Sure, there was a whistleblower from a couple of years ago who went to congress and spoke about potential corruption and other things.
After his testimony mr klippenstein was paid by the intelligence community (he admitted this on camera), to release the medical records of the person in order to attempt to undermine and smear him. The person smeared is/was a lifelong military person who served for over 20 years and gave intelligence briefings to the president.
Klippenstein is scum and will “report” whatever you want if the price is right apparently.

I know I’m late but thank god im not the only one who remembers this. I always knew he was a fed. I specifically remember when all that was goin on and he tweeted asking if anybody had any ‘info’ on Grusch. The tweet was deleted a day after his hit piece came out. Always knew he was suspect.
StopThePresses@reddit
Are you talking about that UFO guy? I remember that controversy being silly, because the records he "released" were already public knowledge.
I would love to see Ken talking about an alphabet agency asking him to do that though. Do you have a link?
BrownRiceConspiracy@reddit
https://youtu.be/RfA5nf9XPM8?si=RzjOici0dNuRbA8v
I found this but all he says is that he used people coming from the DOD, Air Force as well as other sources he knew to submit a wide range of FOIA request. He did not necessarily seek bad information on the man he was initially looking for validation that he was highly decorated because he saw no source on that.
If there's more I'd be interested.
vismundcygnus34@reddit
Goto 2:48 of that link. The actual reporter asks him if he was tipped off by defense, as he said in a twitterspace. In the twitterspace itself he says “defense came and told me where to look”.
The reporter knew it and called out klippenstein.
That’s what an actual journalist does.
BrownRiceConspiracy@reddit
He says he has multiple people come to him including people in the DOD.
Is the standard here that no one can ever get info from someone in the government?
vismundcygnus34@reddit
He said he was tipped off on what to leak by the intelligence community. It's exactly what he said. He nodded and agreed.
The standard here is that smearing whistleblowers who happen to veterans so they won't reveal information by letting a piece of shit "journalist" reveal he has PTSD is fucking disgusting, wrong and sets a chilling precedent.
BrownRiceConspiracy@reddit
So do you think Seymour Hersh who exposed the Mai Lia Massacre was a was piece a shit? Sure smeared a lot of military personnel by exposing them killing civilians.
vismundcygnus34@reddit
You are factually incorrect, he was given specific information about him, where to find it and the timing was right after his testimony. For the record, the whistleblower had/has ptsd, and his wife called the hospital while worried about him. This is what was released in order to smear him. The lowest of the low. Fuck Klippenstein.
Klippenstien said this is what happened on television. I will find the link when not at work.
StopThePresses@reddit
I'm happy to be corrected if I've got it wrong. I'll dig into it myself some more later too, but if you send me that link I'll be grateful!
vismundcygnus34@reddit
No worries, it's a little murky, but it can't not be with this type of information warfare. Here is a clip that helps. Klippenstein said on a twitterspace he was tipped off by the Defense Department. In this clip at 2:48 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfA5nf9XPM8) the guy interviewing Klippenstein calls him on it. I don't know the twitterspace link, but I remember listening, and he says the defense department told him where to look. He then realizes he probably shouldn't have said it and is forced to dance around it like in this clip.
He was tipped of by the defense dept. because Grusch was spilling the beans, and they used a "reporter" who they knew would publish whatever and had no scruples, in order to smear a veteran due to his issues w/ PTSD.
Literally fucking disgusting, and anytime I see his name I will let everyone know what kind of person he is.

petertompolicy@reddit
I'm not sure you know what that word means.
Are you claiming he's a propagandist for the US government?

Delli-paper@reddit
MI5 knew it was coming and did nothing to stop it

And it was a false flag. The Israelis did it themselves so they would get extra police presence around the embassy, which was promptly granted.
deathdousparm@reddit
The rot in the brain to believe that…. Any evidence for your claim or nah? Not like the embassy could have requested for extra police presence during these times. Instead of you know bombing a street in London.

I don’t think it’s common knowledge or at least it’s not common enough for me to know about it. I would like to though. But some sources would be helpful to back up that it’s common for them.

CandidArmavillain@reddit
The death penalty is almost always more expensive than life in prison and also isn't something that discourages people from killing others
True-West-8258@reddit
Terrorism is supposed to spread fear.
If this was targeted towards the embassy staffers its more of a political assasination.
beepboop27885@reddit
Unlawful use of violence to achieve political aims is the definition of terrorism, just so you know
True-West-8258@reddit
"Criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons for political purposes"
What you describe is basically no different than war crimes.
beepboop27885@reddit
No, war crimes have their own criteria and stipulations. Also a civilian isn't really obliged to follow any of the conventions, they'd be held to domestic laws or the laws of the prosecuting country in such a case
FursonaNonGrata@reddit
Holy shit. That is NOT good. We are seeing a pretty sharp increase in terrorism incidents in the US over the last few years, huh? Seems like it's only gonna ratchet up now that it's "fighting season".
Barnaboule69@reddit
Did you guys not live through the ISIS years? I feel like it was worse in the mid 2010's but maybe I'm wrong.
FursonaNonGrata@reddit
The only REALISTIC terrorism threat that the US Public faces is domestic terror, me thinks. ISIS was mostly happening far away.
Soggy-Pen-2460@reddit
Well, the gov has a massive apparatus for protecting our borders and keeping out dangerous people, or at least it used to. Hence why homegrown statistically became more likely.
WaltzIntrepid5110@reddit

Soggy-Pen-2460@reddit
and how many CIA directors have you personally met?
Barnaboule69@reddit
Not disagreeing there tbh.
bikumz@reddit
Both of those attacks you mentioned are domestic terrorism.
Barnaboule69@reddit
In a sense you are right, but I think that there's still an argument to be made that they might not have happened had ISIS not been a thing.
bikumz@reddit
It’s domestic terror though. Domestic terror is when a terror act is committed by a citizen of the country it’s attacking. Both involved US citizens.
Hate is expressed one way or another. They had issues, found someone that shares same ideas, found people to blame, and a way to let hate out. Plenty of other hate groups with the same concepts as Islam, just hate different people.
bikumz@reddit
You’re right. Very few attacks aren’t domestic terrorism, but that could be said for most countries who suffer terror attacks. As long as person is a citizen of country it’s attacking in a terrorist attack, it’s domestic terror.
Herban_Myth@reddit
Conflict is profitable.
bikumz@reddit
Terrorism in the US has been crazy the past 30 years, it just depends what the news says is terrorism. A lot of active shooters end up being terrorists, very few are not. Most try to spread an agenda by a terrible act to gain attention getting their crazy ideas and notes publicized aka the definition of a terror attack.
Some examples of this are the many examples of Women’s medicine clinics being attacked like planned parenthood, the many Islamic inspired attacks like the Vaughan Foods incident in the mid 2010s, attacks on differing politics like the 2017 baseball shooting or same year 2017 when a guy drove a car through a crowd at a protest against Unite the Right, list goes on.

The title leaves out some details. These two were low level staffers who were engaged to each other and on a date together at a Jewish museum. They were shot outside in what looks like a hate crime. They were killed for being Jewish, yes, but the headline here is trying to tell a story that isn't quite true.
heloguy1234@reddit
The “killed because they were Jewish” makes it so much worse than “killed because they were Israeli government officials”.

DeliriouslyDocile@reddit
Uh huh, and how the h-e-double-toothpick was this guy acting in self-defense? He wasn't. He was horrified at the goings-on in Gaza (rightfully so), and dehumanized the other side to the point where he thought it was beneficial (to whom?) to kill two people in the US. I struggle to fathom that there are so many people in here who seem to be absolutely fine with killing, as long as it's the people they don't like. And we wonder why the world is going to sh*t.
Martzillagoesboom@reddit

This is not accurate. The shooter's alleged manifesto has been published (see link in comment above mine). It makes it clear the shooting was due to the victims' roles as representatives of what the shooter called 'a genocidal apartheid government.' The authenticity of the manifesto needs further confirmation.
AquaStarRedHeart@reddit
Ah, that's interesting. The manifesto hadn't hit the news before I went to sleep. I participated in this thread when it was initially posted. I assumed the two people killed were Jewish but did not assume they were Israeli. Having worked in DC, tons of embassy staffers are American and I assumed such. That's on me. Otherwise I'm confused why asking for details caused me to receive some pretty horrible comments and direct messages about supporting genocide. It is what it is. I thought my comments were pretty directly related to the misinformation going around in the early hours.
TheProfessional9@reddit
That's horribly sad
SoooStoooopid@reddit

therapistofcats@reddit
They weren't engaged. They were to be engaged in the coming weeks in Jerusalem. The male wasn't Jewish, he was Christian with a Christian mom. They weren't on a "date", they were there to be celebrated at AJC’s annual Young Diplomats Reception. You got everything wrong.
RecoveringWoWaddict@reddit
They were killed for being Israeli. Not Jewish. The guy literally says free Palestine at the end of the manifesto. These two people did not deserve to die obviously. But to act like Israel isn’t doing some crazy heinous shit in Gaza is insane. This was definitely motivated by that. I’m so sick of Israelis trying to act like the second holocaust is happening when people take issue with them killing children. People don’t like what you’re doing in Gaza. There are repercussions to your actions.
True-West-8258@reddit
They were spesifically killed for being employers of the embassy, not even random Israeli.
Turksarama@reddit
It's basically impossible to say, did this guy actually know they were Israeli? Would he have just shot the first Jews who came out of the museum regardless? This is Schrodingers hate crime, it depends on the unknowable goings on in the guys head.

They were not killed at the embassy. So you got that wrong. They were killed for working for the genocidal antisemitic regime in Israel. And warning shots because Israel would murder them before allowing them to bear witness to Israeli atrocities. Cute.

Details really are important. Yes, I know they are embassy staff -- but they were murdered outside the Capitol Jewish museum while on a date by a man who stated his motive outright.
It's terrible and it's terrorism but there's no evidence they were murdered over anything but being Jewish -- which is worthy of a conversation. Reducing them to their jobs glosses over that a bit, doesn't it?
