Our bus in junior high had to get on the Interstate for about 4 miles. The top speed was 35mph so there we would get passed by tons of cars while on the road. For about a week we made up signs that said "Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon?" across about 8 sheets of paper and held them up against the windows across 8 rows of seats. We got a few laughs. The truck drivers would pull the horn which was always cool.

I actually think of the grey poupon ads when i think of snobs. I noticed this in book fandom where people feel their books are "literature" and other books are just below them. I went on forums "pardon me do you have some grey poupon?" in response and no one got it. No genX people there.

Common misconception! In fact, rich people in those days would be driven around with *sandwiches*, and being rich, they’d want more condiments. While any amount of Hellman’s or Miracle Whip on a sandwich is sufficient, at some point one does get to wondering if we can’t get some more Dijon on this. So that’s where the rich guy would make his driver pull over and ask you for your Grey Poupon at a red light. Now of course, the rich person has the assistant there with them in their bulletproof car, the assistant has the Dijon, and fuck Grey Poupon, this is hand-mixed shit flown in from Dijon *that morning,* and no you can’t afford it.
