Reddit’s corporate executives, financial investment owners, along with their big corporate and government customers absolutely shit the bed when the ‘L’ word slotted a vampire CEO in the street, and the universal reaction was “He had it coming”

Calling for unvaccinated people during covid to be rounded up and pushed into work camps to be worked to death was fine, because that was on narrative for the owners and customers

Russian conscripts having their heads blown apart isn’t violence and calling for more of it isn’t calling for violence, because it’s on narrative

But a single vampire CEO got whacked - and everyone cheered - and that changed everything

Pretty much immediately, people using the ‘L’ word resulted in subreddit mods being given warnings, and subreddits being shut down by mods in protest, or simply giving up under the pressure of having to police for specific words and mute or ban users against myopic and opaque reddit admin guidelines

Within a week or two, the concept of “Top 1%” was forced onto users as unwanted, unasked for, irrelevant user tags - “Top 1% Commenter” and “Top 1% Poster”

These things happened at the same time and are not unrelated - reddit executives, project managers, development, infrastructure etc teams were tasked with these rollouts ahead of other programs

Reddit’s investors and corporate customers were fucking shaken up, seriously, by the “L” word, and the universal response to it

So now, you get this garbage
