Dating App that functions like Instacart and door dash. Get paid to date
Posted by BuckTribe@reddit | CrazyIdeas | View on Reddit | 21 comments
Imagine a dating app where you have it open on a Friday night and someone single near you submits their availability for a quick date. It could be at the movies, a restaurant, etc. You can see their rating and profile before you accept or decline. Once you accept, you drive to their location and meet them.
In the app, you both have to follow steps before the date.
- Step one. Accept date (Both parties)
- Step two: Arrive at location
- Step Three: get to know each other.
- Step Four: Move forward with date or cancel
- Step Five: If you move forward; go on date. After Date, you complete the date on the app and get paid. Depending on the date and location of date, determines how much you get paid. A high end restaurant might require you to do more for more money. Getting dressed up, etc.
Of course there are safety precautions in place. If you are on a date, you wear a lanyard around your neck to let everyone know you are a dater. If something goes wrong, the establishment can step in and end the date. It will cancel your date and you don't get paid. And you can be banned if you are creepy or dangerous.

This is essentially an escorting service.
while they are not illegal, as soon as sex happens, it gets really grey area.
Sure you could be paying for the date and the sex is free because they happen to like you.....
You're honestly better off having this being a "rent a buddy" service for same sex hang outs.
Sex could still end up happening, but there is a lot more deniability.
making a "paid date" app and being investigated and having sting ops happen on it is a guarantee.
I would have a VERY large legal budget prior to launching.

The legitimize the app and business model; you would have to have all of your Ps and Qs in order before launch. No business would be involved if its a escort service. But if restaurants sign up to put their restaurant as a location for the dates; it's more business. And it's a legit dating app just with a twist.
"Man I was on a date and it sucked. But hey, I made $20." And like I said, there would be guidelines restaurants would follow and instruct their servers to do if their table is a "Dater app" date. You being able to rate your date and the person you dated helps the app stay clean and honest. It prevents creepers and people with criminal records from using it. A thorough BG check is required before using. Age is 21 and up.

This is a great idea

So both people on the date get paid? How do you fund this endeavor?
BuckTribe@reddit (OP)
Yes both people get paid. Businesses become clients of the app and pay a yearly subscription to host those dates. That way they are aware of and follow guidelines in place by the dating app. To protect their users and keep everyone safe. Plus investors would also fund it. And the daters have the option of recording the entire date and posting it on social media for engagement. Imagine the parasocial people who would be obsessed with the date.
ContextSensitiveGeek@reddit
So it's basically advertising/subscription supported?
So you want to pay for transportation, wages for the participants, a filming crew, restaurant meals, and other expenses off of basically twitch stream revenue?
I think you just invented the reality dating show, but with extra steps.
BuckTribe@reddit (OP)
huh? They just get paid for the date. They can film their date on their phones if they want to. I said nothing of what you said.
Instacart and Doordash don't pay wages, gas, etc. They just get paid for the job.
You would have to spend a minimum of 25 minutes together on the date. After the 25 minute mark, the date can end and you can close it out to get paid. You can end the date on the app but keep the actual date going if you like the vibes.
And yes, you will be reimbursed for meals or movie tickets plus what you will be paid by the app.
So say you go to the movies. The date itself might be $15 from the app. But the app gives you a budget of $30. Once you take pictures of your receipts n the app; it will instantly refund you the money you spent.
ContextSensitiveGeek@reddit
With doordash and insta the client pays the app, the store (or restaurant), and the delivery person. The app collects the money and distributes it.
In your scenario, the business where the date takes place pays. That would be like the store (restaurant, movie theater, ect.) paying the app, and the delivery people (the daters). Why would they do that?
The only reason would be marketing, but the only marketing they get is some pictures.
BuckTribe@reddit (OP)
The business makes money off of the daters. They are paying to be apart of the daters app. If they are a popular restaurant, daters will be there all of the time and they are making money. The daters app refunds the the bill on the daters. But economically, the businesses gain profit. It's the same model as Instacart and door dash. Businesses sign up for it and pay a small percentage of their sales to the app. But they still make profit.
ammonium_bot@reddit
Hi, did you mean to say "a part of"?
Explanation: "apart" is an adverb meaning separately, while "a part" is a noun meaning a portion.
Sorry if I made a mistake! Please let me know if I did. Have a great day!

Please give an example and use real dollar amounts.
OrganikOranges@reddit
This system makes sense if:
The daters don’t get reimbursed for costs , they only get paid like 1$ to go on the date
The restaurant / activity place pays the app a fee to have daters come to their restaurant / activity
What your suggesting makes no sense unless one of the daters is paying high amounts of money to go on a date, which again makes it an escort service and not a dating app

Advertising maybe
shasaferaska@reddit
Who's paying who? You can already pay women to go on dates with you. They are called escorts.
CarlJustCarl@reddit
So your date brings you food?
BuckTribe@reddit (OP)
lol No. The app notifies you that someone near you wants to go on a date. You can read their profile and determine if you want to go on that date. Once you accept and they accept, you go to the location they want to have a date at.
Once you are there, there are steps to follow on the app before the date starts. If it a movie date, date ends after movie. But you only get paid if movie ends. App tracks your location to ensure you are still on date and not just accepting dates on the couch and collecting money.
If its a restaurant date, you will have a time frame to be on the date before you can be paid. Like 25 minutes, minimum. You get reinbursed for money spent on date plus whatever the date pay is
dlpfc123@reddit
Ok so the getting paid part makes no sense and makes this a good candidate for this sub. And you lose me at the lanyard/restaurant knows the rules bit. But I think there might be something in the dating app that jumps straight to a date idea. I think there are certain people who would enjoy dating app where you skip the messaging back and forth and a match automatically means a date.
BuckTribe@reddit (OP)
I explained how you get paid in another thread. But say you accept a date at the movies with someone. The app sets a budget for the date depending on where you are. If you are at the movies, their pay scale can range from 15-25 dollars. If it's a restaurant, pay scale can range from 40-75 dollars.
The app sets a budget for the type of date. So movies can be $30 limit. You take a picture of your receipt and they refund you the amount you paid up to the budget they gave.
The lanyards are for restaurants to know that you are a dater and not someone loitering. So they can know you are awaiting for your date to arrive. And they would know how to treat the two of you while on your date. The restaurants can check up on both of you to see if everything is okay. If something is wrong, they can follow their guidelines like call police, or kick the bad dater out.

Bro out here inventing escorts
BuckTribe@reddit (OP)
Imagine being a professional dater. LOL
