If 10,000 hours is a path to greatness, where does one invest that time in 2025?

Keeping it simple. Lets talk about this!
If 10,000 hours is a path to greatness, where does one invest that time in 2025?
This is not just about making money.
Maybe a way of life.
Maybe being healthy.
Maybe you are healthy, wealthy and prospering.
Maybe you are weak, ill, alone or seeking something.
Let's talk.

That was just an essentially arbitrary number in some book about mastering an art form. The point is that it's large enough to show that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication but not so large that it seems impossible.
That said, to give some sort of answer, you invest whatever time you can to every facet of the goal (often that's not doing the thing but developing some peripheral, accompanying skill) and recognise that it will take many years to gain any degree of mastery.

Agreed, especially with the "every facet" part.
If you know what a basketball is, you know that Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time. But he can also do everything else (dribble, pass, even attack the basket) incredibly well. Being so multi-faceted means people can't just guard him at the 3-pt line, which means he has more space to be an even better 3-pt shooter.
Replace him with Messi or whoever and it's the same story.

Interpersonal skills.
Let's say you are going to finish this quest in five years and apply them for 40. So from 2030-2070.
What will be happening during that time? Extreme weather events and an increased reliance on AI manufacturing.
Can you obtain a position of power in that time? Lots of cutthroat competition. Invest your time in finance now. Be rich already.
Can you obtain a role in management? Competition is going to get tougher as AI finds its footing, but we expect that some humans will be kept in decision making roles.
Can you develop an indispensable skill? Every industry will eventually be automated in order of profitability. Do you want to repair robots or infrastructure? Do you want to fight or increasingly few skilled roles in any industry?
Can you develop an essential skill? Doctors, teachers, and garbage men will still be needed.
Out of all of these, management seems the best combination of appealing and obtainable, and so interpersonal skills are the key to mobility. Job hop in customer facing roles, favoring interactions with influential people. The future is just going to keep getting crazier until solutions come around. You'll have to be flexible.

10000 hours is about 7 years of full time work, it was the typical length of apprenticeship in the old time, the meaning is just that.

Phrenology.

What are you on OP and where do you get it

I learned programming about a decade ago to develop a video game for fun. Now I'm a highly paid software engineer working at an AI company, no degree either. Might want to check the job market numbers though; there are probably more accessible roles in Computer Science right now (e.g. Scrum Master, Analyst, etc).
In terms of health, I learned my reason for not staying in shape was mostly due to the gym trip itself. Buy a cheap treadmill or just jog the neighborhood if your climate is nice. My treadmill cost $250, and has worked great for years. Those $1,000+ treadmills are nice and luxury, but they're mostly marketed toward businesses who can afford and profit from them. 3MPH for an hour is very easy, you completely forget you are walking after 10 minutes, especially if you're Reddit scrolling or watching TV. And bonus: you can work out in your underwear (or less)!

Considering 365 days is just 8,760 hours, I guess Im putting greatness to next year

Just.

That's why you need to put in 115% to achieve greatness.

In 2025, investing 10,000 hours in mastering self-compassion and resilience might just be the ultimate path to greatness we all need.
