Ear cropping on dogs is banned, but it’s not illegal to own a dog with cropped ears. Would you like to see a ban on owning a cropped dog too?

Have owners able to declare their dog for a year while the ban comes into place. That declaration gets a note on the microchip details. After that, anyone with a cropped dog gets a producer that they take to a vet to have their dog scanned. A big fine if that dog doesn’t come under the ‘amnesty’ period. I know it would never be enforced. Weed smoking isn’t stopped, neither is supermarket theft and both are illegal.
