Beware! I bought a rough rider off rk. Took 1 month to get to the store. Had to call customer service and they told me it was there, but the store never called me. Went in to grab it took 3 hours before there computers crashed, left bare handed. Next time took 2 hours but the system worked and got through. Those employees work there asses off but the managers have to pull the guns from the back and bring it out to them before they can start paperwork. Followed by the worst handling of a firearm ive ever seen in person. (Dude put his pinky in the trigger guard and pointed barrel at his face)

Id do it again tbh for the right price but expect it to be a painful process.

I think this is the standard price for them no? Regardless its a good shotgun and if you've been thinking of dipping your toes into shotguns this is an excellent first buy.

I may not shoot shotguns a ton, but I have patterned them, chrono'd them, and passed a math class, and it seems you have never. The only way to improve the gun's performance at range is to constrict the barrel more, irrelevant to the length, or increase the projectile velocity, which every load I've seen tested taps out before 18".

If you are telling me that a 18" cylinder bore barrel will pattern the same as a 28" cylinder bore barrel, I'm not sure what to tell you. My Modified 14" SBS barrel patterns about the same as my old 18.5" cylinder bore barrel.

Not really. You can shoot skeet a bit more effectively with the long boi, but thats only relevant if youre taking a Maverick out skeet shooting (which is funny AF, especially if you outshoot the fudds with $4k OUs)

They did it on several models including this 7rd. Like I said they don't sell them anymore and I don't see them pop up used often. They still sell the add on sight set, but it's $100 and is a gunsmith install.

88 and 500 parts are interchangeable. But a 20" barreled gun and 18.5" barrelled gun can't swap barrels becuse the magazine tubes are different lengths.

Some parts are. Forearms are not, the 88 slide is all one piece while the 500's slide can be removed from the action arms. The 500 can take aftermarket forearms, the 88 can't (unless you want to swap it with a 500 assembly).

That is only true with older M500s or those with wooden stocks and forearms. Mossberg is going to all one-piece forearms with the action bars pinned to the plastic. It makes more sense as it is quieter, less rattly and just as strong.

I don't think so. I was just noticing a trend in their cost cutting where they were using Mav 88 forends on non-Mav shotguns. I just checked their site and they appear to have dumped that idea. A lot of changes from 2024....

*for the most part. Some forends (like the Magpul SGA) require a two-prong action slide. The Mavericks come with one-arm slides.

That said, if you, like me, want to spend $200 on furniture for a $180 gun, you can also just buy a 500 action slide and slap it on. Then the 500 aftermarket forends should fit.

They all have dual action bars. Mavericks all have the action bars attached to the plastic slide. Plastic 500s are like this as well. So for both guns you'll need to buy a slide assembly.

Wood furniture 500s and all 590s come with the seperate slide assembly.

The 20" barrels and the 7rd mags are matched pairs. They're interchangeable as a set but you can't use a different length barrel with this mag or a different mag with this length barrel.

The 20" barrel is *only* 1.5" longer than the 18.5" even though it looks optically much longer. If you're concerned about the extra weight of a full magazine, no one said you have to load it to maximum capacity.

It shouldn't have any wear at all because I've only fired it like 30 times. And it happened repeatedly within those rounds. I just tucked it away for now, accepting that it's a cheap gun made cheaply.

$239 is an okay price but it's a price I've seen many times while $200 was a BIN price. At $200 I would have recommended it for one of my relatives who's interested in a pump shotgun.

I've got a Winchester SX4 semi-automatic shotgun that meets my needs. I hyperextended my left elbow about 30 years ago and discovered last year when racking a different pump shotgun in a local gun store that the motion causes discomfort in my elbow so I'll probably never buy a pump shotgun for myself. But I would still have been tempted to buy it for $200. I've spent too much in the last year on firearms related purchases so I really need to avoid buying anything that I really don't need. But if suppressors get pulled out of the NFA which now looks like a possibility I will go ahead and buy my first suppressor.

Not out of the box no, the part of the receiver that's closest to the stock is completely smooth up top. Not even screws to add a pic rail. Looks like you would have to get it drilled by a gunsmith.
