Is the Grapevine Cotton Belt Route train ride worth going on?

If so, which class ticket should I get? Ambassador Class, First Class, Touring Class, or Economy Class? I want to be able to see as much as possible as the train travels along more so than how comfortable the seat is.

What they don’t tell you is, it constantly has stop for the tex rail trains. I did it a few weeks ago and it was 80% being stopped on the rail for a train to go by and 20% actually riding along the rail. I wouldn’t recommend it

I did the shorter ride with my two little guys and enjoyed it. I will say that I was happy we picked touring class because the windows went all the way to the floor which made for a cool view.

Just ride TexRail. It’s way better and you can ride it all day for $4.

No. It’s a slow boring ride. If you like vintage trains and that kind of stuff then yes.

You’re sharing commenter and freight lines. Just take texrail if you want to ride and “see” a city. I’ll be honest, I ride the cotton belt trail on my bike and there’s nothing to see. Rail line is lined with trees, backs of houses and businesses.

Not really an answer... just tossing this out there... The TexRail train goes on the same tracks, loads / unloads at the same station in Grapevine. It goes from the DFW Airport to the T&P Station. It's fully enclosed and air conditioned. It does NOT go to the Stock Yards. I haven't been on the grapevine historic train in a good bit but I do recall it going to the Stock Yards and not the T&P station. I'm not sure if the Grapevine historic train runs their steam engine or a newer ( old ) non-steam train. Maybe is this known to all... but here it is, just in case.

Are you interesting in going to the Stockyards or just taking the train? If just looking to ride the route, the TexRail is like 90% the same route and tickets are only $2. The Texrail seats are comfortable as well. The vintage railroad is worth it if want to see the older train/ get to the Stockyards.
