What 3 Letters make the coolest call sign?

Fav call sign you’ve had that sounds cool but also practical and not a mouthful to say?
Or maybe it’s just me who chooses which C-150 to reserve for lessons based on the call sign lmao
McDrummerSLR@reddit
Flew a 172 with the tail number 737NG which is ironic now being on the 737
ThisIsMyHandleNow@reddit
Heard 64HD repeat back a vector as “Left 060, 64 Hot Dog”
SpartanDoubleZero@reddit
I love when home airports call the plane by its nickname name. Flew one that ended in RJ and was painted to be redder than a dogs dick. I contact tower 10 miles out “tower, Romeo Juliet with the weather full stop”.
Tower: “Red junk enter left down wind rwy 24”
NolanonoSC@reddit
We have a plane ending in JY, tower mistakenly called us "janky yankee" and that's now it's nickname
SpartanDoubleZero@reddit
That’s a hilarious name. My dad flew for a company that had a Lear that ended in WR. Well WR started getting a reeeeeeeal funky smell coming from one of the main wheel wells. One of the A&Ps walks out with his flash light and finds a huge rat that’s probably got a couple extra thousand miles on it. That day Wasted Rat was born

OH-FCK
cafe_brutale@reddit
In Finland there actually are aircraft registered as OH-DAM, OH-SHT and OH-WTF. Probably some other fun ones too.
Only-Tomorrow606@reddit
Yeah I saw a glider that was oh-sht on TikTok once
cafe_brutale@reddit
That registration is in use for a Diamond DA42 operated by a Finnish flight school so I think the glider had a different one.
KiwifromtheTron@reddit
A former training school in NZ had a fleet of 152’s with registrations: DAD, MUM, BRO, SIS, CUZ…
Ouch704@reddit
OH-FUK
Saw it on the ramp in EHRD a couple days ago. Always gets me to chuckle.
_Haych_Bee_@reddit
One of the aeroplanes online at our local school is Mike Sierra Golf.
A friend of mine owned Kilo India Delta.
cestsara@reddit
Saw a Cessna for sale on marketplace with C-GFUX 😭 Aswell as one with C-GODX. Both go hard.
offsetcarrier@reddit
There’s a privately owned EC120 near me registered G-FCKD, the pilot told me the CAA only realised what they’d approved the day after the paperwork had gone through 😂
cestsara@reddit
😭😭😭 Amazing
setthrustpositive@reddit
There was a J3 that was C-UFUX
tailwheel307@reddit
I’ve always wanted to put C-FAKE on something like a cub that’s got a ridiculous paint scheme like an airline knockoff.

Air Canooda
Aggravating-House620@reddit
My flight school has some that are pretty fun to say and a few that are a total mouthful that I mess up every time. You’ll very quickly be able to figure out where I’m training but we’ve got 1488M, 5678B, 1321T, 2151B, and a few others that are fun and quick to say.
All_fine_and__dandy@reddit
I knew a C182 Whiskey Lima Romeo. We jokingly called it “What a Load of Rubbish”
JaxyKun@reddit
GDG at my current operation is Golden Gate. Bay Area operator and I love the callsign. We do regularly get incorrect callouts though, anything from good speed to golden goose and everything in between!
owenb4560@reddit
My 150’s last 3 is 69J, I've gotten compliments on my tail number on freq before lol. Maybe isn't the coolest, but she's mine!
Far_Top_7663@reddit
My flight school had a Piper PA-11 registration LV-RFU,
It was the only plane in the flight school, or in that airport, that had its own call sign.
"The Roo-Foo".
Relative-Network5413@reddit
Plane I did my solo in was N19777. I can safely say I did my first solo in a triple seven
TaurusAuriga@reddit
No way ! 47N and Tristate Aviation ? Flew her a lot
FlairWolf31@reddit
I did my solo in Tomahawk 2356A. Based off the old guys’ advice before I took off, I called myself 2356A Heavy.
Ground didn’t stop me, tower didn’t stop me, but Pensacola Approach told me to knock it off after the second or third time.
Ah, good times.
elkab0ng@reddit
lol. I casually mention that I’ve logged some time in a Boeing. (Elaborating that it was a Stearman actually makes it cooler for people who fly.)

Strange_Mirror6992@reddit
I built a Vans Rv-12 and the N number I chose was n666ep
jaylw314@reddit
Clearly they did not think that through. They should have got together with whoever registered my number with "999" in it

GTX, callsign “big-dee”.
If you didn’t say “BIG-DEEEEEE two five six, center Roger” you’d get ridiculed by the entire radar room.
unfragger@reddit
Is this an operation out of Dallas? It sounds so familiar
SnooHesitations1718@reddit
Small cargo company base out of tx they fly bonanzas and barrons
Adventurous-Ad8219@reddit
I used to fly for an operation that was Foxtrot Sierra Papa, that was a mouthful but the callsign was Snapshot, which was frequently mispronounced/misinterpreted as Slapshot, Screenshot, or my personal favorite, Snapshart
SnooHesitations1718@reddit
Survey?
itszulutime@reddit
We called you SnapChat in Chicago whenever we coordinated between controllers about whatever you were doing.
CorporalCrash@reddit
I've heard of tow planes with callsign "Slingshot" which is honestly badass imo
WhoaIHaveControl@reddit
Tug, Scout, Lance, Superdog, and Slingshot are all Canadian Forces callsigns for air cadet towplanes.
MunitionGuyMike@reddit
“Snapshart” 💀
Canikfan434@reddit
A doctor I worked with was thinking of changing the tail # of his Mooney “to my three favorite things in life…” N69GW. His wife apparently had veto power. 😂
IndependenceStock417@reddit
He should have showed her what 69GW was all about

I liked R8J in radio training in the Navy long ago. Not a tail number but was a catchy call sign.

I flew a 172 with the last two letters foxtrot-foxtrot. Quickly became foxy fox!
Accomplished-Ear-681@reddit
I worked SCM1 one night. “Medevac Screamer1.” She sounded kinda hot too
neinelleven@reddit
My solo’s last 3 was 47D. To this day my favorite call sign. Also, I felt like a delta pilot
Given__To__Fly@reddit
Not a tail number, but Norse Airlines (a Norwegian airline) has the callsign "Longship". Idk why, but that goes hard.
N878AC@reddit
Our plane is N97RJ, aka Romeo-Juliet. I always thought our LLC should have been named the Montague-Capulet LLC
Designer_Buy_1650@reddit
555 “Triple nickel” Heard it a single time in years of flying.
Given__To__Fly@reddit
Oh, man. I used to operate a train who's designation was 555, and we also called it the triple nickle.
Go_Loud762@reddit
I have a Triple Nickel challenge coin. Guess I need the plane now.
anaqvi786@reddit
Triple nickel needs a purple nurple. Search it on google and see what comes up

We have an FML in New Zealand. It was at a flight school for a number of years.

My current callsign: CPJ (Dragon eye)
My old callsign: RKS (Rock star)
The 152 I instructed in: G-CPFC (Crystal Palace Football Club)
GooberPilot_@reddit
I already have the reg C-GOOB reserved for when I can comfortably afford maintaining my own plane 😅
heysoundude@reddit
TIL we Canadians can reserve a registration.
I should look up the one I have in mind…and no, it doesn’t end Uniform Charlie Kilo
GooberPilot_@reddit
Google “civil air register” then search > available marks.
Leave all fields blank (unless you know what you want), then hit “Search”
heysoundude@reddit
I’ve the site bookmarked I believe. Thanks!
GooberPilot_@reddit
Reserving isn’t free. There’s an initial cost and an annual cost.
heysoundude@reddit
That’s fine.. can you give me an idea as to the amounts?
GooberPilot_@reddit
Apply for or manage the reservation of an aircraft registration mark
Go to “Fees and Service Standards”.
Unless you have an aircraft to register, you have to pay the $45/year to keep the rights.
heysoundude@reddit
Peanuts! Thanks!!!
GooberPilot_@reddit
Just keep a reminder on your phone once you get the initial email with the letter advising you have reserved the rights to the reg. They don’t send reminders. I usually have it tell me a month prior to the anniversary
heysoundude@reddit
You must be a COPA rep you’re being so helpful
GooberPilot_@reddit
Nope. Just a fellow pilot.

At an airport near mine there’s an old guy with a 150, (the airport is at 5000 ft, you can connect the dots.)
Anyways, he calls himself “sky turtle”. You’ll be tuning in and you’ll hear “sky turtle in the left downwind 17”
Never fails to crack me up. I have no idea what his actual tail number is.
kiwiphotog@reddit
There is an aero club near here that used to and maybe still does, have fun three letter regos. From memory there was MUM, DAD, BRO, SIS and maybe more

I’m a former submariner. During exercises between two subs, whenever one of us “won” the engagement — meaning we had a valid torpedo solution — we’d report it over VLF with the NATO code Oscar Oscar Whisky. So for me, that’s hands down the coolest call sign out there.

Back in the day, Harry Helmsley (hotel owner) had a 727 call sign “November one hotel hotel”. I thought it was pretty cool.
Nike used to have N1KE. And Disney had N1MM.
TaigaBridge@reddit
I liked N88EX enough to reserve it on spec I'd have an airplane to put it on someday soon. (It has an actual meaning for my business, too, but mostly it sounds cool.)
CSpilot@reddit
When I was 13 (in 1989), my family went with another family to Oshkosh. The dad of this other family was a controller that was working the tower at one of the nearby overflow airports (FLD). One afternoon, he took my family on a tower tour and one of the controllers was working a Mooney 1TT. The way “Mooney One Tango Tango” rolled off her tongue has stuck with me to this day. That was and still is a cool call sign.

There's a flight school in Slovakia that has OM-LIFe, OM-LOVe, and OM-NFT for Night Flight Training. An acquaintance here owns OM-"triple whiskey".
A flight school near Prague has "OK-MAT" which is particularly funny for me because they call me "Mat", so it sounds like the plane is rolling its eyes at me: "ok Mat 🙄". Joke's on the plane, I'm the one rolling it.
Less conventionally interesting but I find very pleasing: OM-HLM, HoteL LiMa Mike. I wonder if there's an even better alliteration.
All of these are DA20, except OM-NFT, Viper SD4
Bonus: an airfield in Turin, Italy with identifier LIMA. I haven't heard it used over the radio, but would make for a fun skit
