The sort of humour that the Simpsons epitomised at its best wasn't really era-dependent, I'd argue. Like a lot of it was just whimsy or absurdity but done very cleverly and therefore original in a way that more formulaic or context dependent humour couldn't be

Everything up til s10 is gold through and through. After that, it gets progressively sloppy. I mean, flanderization did come from the Simpsons.

A newer season of family guy was on the other day and I watched a tiny bit of it. Peter cant be on the screen without there being some joke painfully packed in there somewhere. When it’s just bit after bit after bit, it’s like ‘eh… okay, what else is on’
