Where have all the IPS Ultrawide monitors have gone?

There used to be so many out but now where are they? Any good ones still around? I enjoyed them and don’t want OLED right now.

I have heard IPS Panels tend to have better longevity compared to VA panels. Is that true?
jamvanderloeff@reddit
VAs out-cheaped them and marketing convinced gamers curved was a good thing, and ultrawide fits with the more curvey experience.
If you're bothered by the reponse times of even the nicer VAs but don't have OLED money to spend, your main option is picking a different 16:9 size, still lots of 2560x1440 IPSes around, and 3840x2160 is coming down in price.

response time on my VA is great, havent noticed any smearing except for when i had smooth scroll enabled on browser but i had the issue with my oled too

Which model is that
UnlimitedDeep@reddit
Curved is sick though, couldn’t possibly imagine going back to a flat panel, almost gives me vertigo.
wotoan@reddit
Absolutely terrible for productivity work, throws perspective and right angles out the window.
mitchsusername@reddit
Can I ask why? I've been using an uw as my main productivity monitor for a few years now and I love the curve. Why do angles and perspective matter? Unless you're a digital artist or something. I'm just in word mostly, my work product is ~40 page memos that I do about one a week. Lots of excel too.

2D/3D CAD is the killer for curved monitors for me, my entire process involves a 3D model that doesn’t get distorted and 2D drawings that actually look the same on the monitor as when they’re printed on a flat sheet of paper.
jamvanderloeff@reddit
I'd prefer not having the shape distortion (although you do get used to it, I'm still using one because it was cheaper)

I have an MSI MAG401QR, flat 21:9 IPS with a 155hz refresh rate. I was also looking for a long time before it was back in stock again, but it seems decently available nowadays
Jelly_User@reddit
Hey the only one I can find is VA panel, can you give a link to it's specs or something?

They are expensive, and VA ultrawides are quite nice these days. I went from IPS to VA myself and haven’t found any degradation in experience. Its actually been better because i also went from 75 to 180hz refresh rate, and it cost me $300.
Kaka9790@reddit
Do you notice any black smearing issues in VA?
ZzeroBeat@reddit
Nah no issues
Kaka9790@reddit
Can you suggest some good 34 inch VA panel monitors?
MihirGawankar@reddit
There are tons of good monitors, I bought new one yesterday, Samsung g5 34" its preety good for me. I faced slight colour change but that only happens if you are too close to the monitor, else its just like ips. The HDR of the monitor is not true HDR10 it uses 8 bit + FRC so it gives a good gradient of colours. Now that the Amazon sale is going on you can buy one at 28-29k and Honestly its really good for the price range. Make sure you have decent PC to handle this monitor as it is close to 4k (70%) resolution which is 3440 x 1440.
Also if you go with LG one that is also a good pick but I don't know if lg provide any FRC mode. I am happy with the samsung G5 34". Hope you buy soon!

Which monitor did you get?

Acer XZ342CU S3

Commenting to follow. Recently started looking at ultrawide 1440p monitors to replace my 7 year old 2160p 4k LG 60hz IPS screen and most of what I found was recommendations for displays that aren't available anymore.
For myself, not real interested in OLED or curved since I use it mostly for work (I'm WFH) as a programmer and I can see it getting burn in pretty quickly.
Formal-Caregiver8327@reddit
3 months later did you end up landing on anything?
_dekoorc@reddit
I ended up finding a Gigabyte M34WQ from a lesser-known retailer, CompSource (it doesn't look like they have any more in stock). It took them three weeks to ship it, so I was thinking they didn't actually have it in stock, but it eventually showed up. Very happy with the purchase.
Took a little bit to go from 4k back down to 1440p, but I got used to it.
IncredibleGonzo@reddit
Arguably a bigger issue with OLED for work is text clarity, especially ultrawides - there just aren't many options that have high enough pixel density to mitigate the issue.

Dell ultra sharps are largely ips
cbizzle31@reddit
I'll sell you my old one.
ArislanShiva@reddit
Dell's Ultrasharp line is worth checking out. They all use IPS Black tech and the 2025 models have 120hz refresh rates.
